Downtown, Laetus wandered about, glancing around occasionally. The area was pretty dead. There were always stubborn holdouts, refusing to move even in an emergency. Laetus, however, was not one of these. He had come back home to find that people had been murdered before the waves even hit the shores. Death looms in the distance and people chose to turn on eachother? How ridiculous. Laetus would find this killer or killers, using himself as bait. He wasn't quite sure what he would do once he found them, but he couldn't go back to Maddie knowing things were this bad, and he wouldn't abandon his home to such beasts anyway.

Recently, Marcus had returned to Manta Carlos, the place where he onced learned to hone his powers, to relax. Pretty soon, however, he was hearing that people were being murdered, seemingly at random. And this was right before a tsunami was predicted to hit. As if there wasn't already a lot of fear surrounding that. He couldn't just let more innocent people die like this. Hoping to lure them to him by using himself as bait, he donned his specially-designed combat suit, and set out to find the killers.

He chose to search the downtown area first. The place was practically deserted, yet there were enough people still holding out to warrant a killer's presence here. This would be the perfect place to commit murder without causing chaos among crowds that would just get in the way. It wasn't long before he found a suspicious boy wandering around, like he was. He was moving around too much to be just another holdout. He could just be lost, though there was the possibility that he was searching for something other than a way out of town. If it was the former, then he needed to help.

The bald man approached the younger kid, ready to fight if he needed to. Though you wouldn't gather that from his more casual body language. "Hey, kid. You seem to be wandering around a lot, are you lost by any chance?" he asked.

Laetus had noticed the man long before he approached. He was wandering about. Event he holdouts didn't do much wandering. Was this the murderer? Laetus kept a cool head. He had someone waiting for him. He had to handle this.
"I am." He lied, trying to sound vulnerable. "I got separated from my friend. She has to be long gone by now. Can you show me where to evacuate to?" He asked, looking at the man for any sign he had a killer intent. What was this guy doing out here if he wasn't the killer?

While the two men had their little standoff, a bronze-skinned young woman ran up the street towards them. She was carrying a large backpack that seemed to be full of stuff, and it bounced on her backpack as she ran. She was out of breath from the effort.

"Hey, pendejos!" she shouted at them, "Don't you know there's a tsunami coming?" She stopped next to them to catch her breath. "I'm going to the shelter, and I suggest you come with me instead of standing around with your dicks in your hands. This isn't a normal tsunami. And..." She spent a moment looking at Marcus's outfit with a raised eyebrow, "I guarantee you aren't going to be able to superhero it away."

The young man seemed to be the former after all. That could still change, however. For now, he decided to play along until he showed signs of hostility. He was about to reply when he heard another voice form the distance. This time it was a woman carrying a large backpack, running towards them.

"Oh, I am aware of the tsunami. I was just about to show him the way to the shelter." He'd need to keep up the act, looking for any signs of hostility from her as well.

"As for me, I may not be able to do much about the tsunami. However, there are sure to be some people who are still trying to evacuate, and I'm trying to help as many of them as I can." Not a complete lie, since he wanted to protect these people from the killer/s out here.

Laetus looked between the two people. This complicates things. If one of them is the killer, which one... What if they both are? What do I... Laetus closed his eyes for a moment, letting out a sigh. If they are, I have to handle it.
"You seem tired." He said to the woman. "In a situation like this, wouldn't it be easier to leave your stuff?" He asked, eyeing the bag. "Whatever's in there can't be more precious than your life, right?"

Super-suit dude was out here helping people evacuate. Good for him. "Ok, super-suit. Good for you, good luck with that. I can help this kid get there." She nodded to Laetus.

The kid in question was telling her she could leave her backpack. It would be easier to evacuate without it, he said. "I'd rather not be dirt poor after the tsunami hits, thank you. But it would be even easier for me to evacuate if you would stop wasting my time and start following me to the shelter."

She was clearly very agitated with him for even suggesting such a thing. She kept her eyes on him and started backpedaling, moving towards the shelter again. "Now are you going to come with me or are you going to keep messing around?"

This woman seemed to be a bit eager to help the young man out herself. He'd be able to chalk it up to the threat of the tsunami, but she seemed eager to take him out of Markus' hands in particular. She also seemed to be very agitated about the contents of her backpack. Something was definitely off. He stepped in immediately.

"I think I should come with you two. If you really don't want to part with whatever's in the backpack, at least let me carry it for you. Looks to me like it'll only slow you down."

If either of them were killers, travelling together would give him the chance to get in the way. Besides, if they both turned out to be killers, he could try to take them.
