How did I... Get here?

The noon sun was high in the sky, people wandered the park as usual and... There was a Kenta in a tree... Why was there a Kenta in a tree?
Kenta was draped over a tree branch, asleep, his arms, legs and tails dangling down from his perch. Dark circles lined his eyes, implying this was the end result of a long night without sleep.

"Hey!" A voice called from below him. "What are you doing up there?"

When Kenta opened his eyes, he would see a girl standing there below him, hands on her hips and eyes boring into him. She didn't look to be much older than him, maybe thirteen or fourteen?

Kenta took a while to realize he was being spoken to, his eyes slowly opening and looking down at the girl. He let out a yawn and looked like he was still mostly out of it, exemplified by his dark circled eyes.
"Oh... Hi... Where..." He was going to say where did you come from, but as awareness of where he was hit, he sat up in the tree. "Oh..." He yawned again before hopping down, landing with an odd grace despite his minimal awareness.
"I... guess I was sleeping." He told her listlessly, still not quite awake. He rotated his shoulder and it cracked.
Didnt expect an npc lol.

"In a tree?" Mel asked with the quirk of her brow. She glanced up where he had been sleeping. It wasn't the oddest thing one saw on the island, but it did make her wonder why he had been up there. She'd never seen him here before. "Do you even know where you are?"

Her posture relaxed imperceptibly. "You're in Manta Carlos Center Park if you were wondering. Not many people have the balls to sleep here, though. Who knows what could have happened to you? I thought you were dead or something."

What Mel didn't mention was that she had thought he might make a good meal, had he been dying.

Kenta shrugged. "Not the first time I've done this... won't be the last either I'm sure..." He yawned again.
"Oh, I'm Kenta by the way." He told her, finally aware enough to realize he should introduce himself.

Mel might have disagreed with his reasoning, but she wasn't going to fight about it. People who died in parks were easier to eat, so she'd keep an eye out on him. She eyed the tails swaying behind him. She'd seen some creatures like this, but that could have made him anything from anthropomorphic to a kitsune.

"Melony, it's a pleasure to meet you," she said somewhat distractedly before she held out her hand to give his a firm shake.

Kenta was about to give a quick bow, but when she held her hand out, he opted to go with her form of greeting.
"Likewise. So..." He stretched again. Sleeping in a tree wasn't too good for you. His tails stretched out as well when he did. "What time is it? Not sure how long I was out here..."

"It's two PM. How long have you been asleep? What made you sleep up in the tree?" Melony wondered if he often slept in trees. By the way he spoke, it seemed like it. "Whatever happened to you must have been bad. You look like hell."

"Must have been here since dawn..." He looked at her for a moment when she commented on his appearance, sadness showed on his face but was quickly shaken off. "I'm alright. Been through worse nights. I just have like... really bad insomnia. I wander the city most nights."

"Insomnia? Does that have something to do with your powers?" That was the first question always to ask, whether something was because of a person's abilities on the island.
