It had been some time since Iaemor had gone home. During the last couple months he had been away, trying to feel the stagnation he had started to feel in life by changing his current situation. During that time he had been renting an apartment closer to the center of the city. However, he knew he would have to return home eventually. It was sometime in the afternoon when Iaemor walked up to his old door, and pulled his keys out to unlock it and let himself inside.
Walking through the entrance way, he felt at home and yet as he walked through the house, he started to feel as if something was off. Subconsciously picking up on the fact that some things in the house were not where he would have always kept them, or that thing that weren’t there before were there now. His conscious mind however simply put the feeling down to the fact that Maya had been the only one in the home while he had been away, except maybe for nightly visitors.
“Maya?” He called out as he made his way passed the living room towards the stairs. Intending to go up to his old room. He wouldn’t have been shocked if the house was empty, though it wasn’t Maya or him were the sort to lay around at home for no reason alone. “Are you home?” He called out again, as he reached the top of the stairs. “I suppose not.” He said to himself with a shrug as he started to head towards his room.
Before he reached his door though, he swore he heard something elsewhere in the house and looked over his shoulder expecting that Maya was home after all and had either not been in a position to answer, or was being quite on purpose in an attempt to sneak up and surprise him.
