Corinth paused at a mirror to straighten his tie, smiling at his reflection. The planning, the invites, even the decorations had been set up perfectly. The food was all prepped and either warming or chilling, there were no minors who could illegally get into the champagne and wine - a bartender would watch over the alcohols all night and Lucan's friends had all ensured to get proper permission. Old friends had traveled for the event, and new employees were already chatting in the sitting room. Lucan was presumably upstairs getting ready, though with his teleportation Corinth was never certain where he had really gone.
The house was decorated top to bottom in glittering tinsel and long garlands of holly leaves. A large tree decorated top to bottom had become the focal point of the main living room, while the kitchen and dining room had snacks and goodies spread out on every available surface. Champagne and wines were being served from a table in the sitting room, framed by a broad window facing the snowy streets.
Corinth had already greeted most of the acquaintances he had invited himself, leaving only his children's friends and a few stragglers. Glancing at the wall clock behind him, Corinth felt uneasy, considering the possibility that some of his guests may have been stranded in the snow. He put his fears behind him with the next knock at the door.
