Xavier strolled down the beach, feeling a bit sick and having a splitting headache. Mostly because he was getting pretty badly dehydrated since he hadn't been in the water for some time. Also because he hated it. Hated having to get in the water. He'd quickly stopped by his dorm since it wasn't far away to grab a backpack, then headed to the beach. Finally he dumped the backpack and unzipped it. It was empty, other than neatly folded clothes are the bottom. Xavier proceeded to take off his shirt, shoes then shocks then put them in the backpack before he zipped it back up.

He only had his jeans still on, but he could do it fine with the jeans. He waded into the water, until he got around waist height. Xavier stood there for a while, and steadied his breathing. He still wasn't used to it, even though he saw it everyday now. He removed the human shape charm, the only thing that meant he could walk by this point. He forced himself to not hold his breath as he kinda dropped into the water, now with a tail rather than legs. It took a second to adjust, but could now swim fine. He already felt so much better now that he submerged himself just a little in the water. Even dipped his head below the water. Good thing he didn't have to worry about drowning anymore. He held the charm tight in his hand, and just kinda floated in the water.

Diego left the community center too late, since he couldn't catch up to Xavier and pretty much scouted the nearby park area from air in vain. His cheeks were still hot from what Xavier, that ass, had said. Now Diego was super embarrassed and sure everyone was judging him and thinking he was gay or something. Diego groaned in frustration, when his thoughts were all muddled and confused. He was just worried for Xavier, the guy was obviously down and Diego didn't wanna leave him alone, he hadn't flown after him because he wanted to see him naked or some shit. Seriously.
And maybe Diego wanted to concentrate on someone else's troubles so he wouldn't have to think about Gabe...

Diego couldn't find Xavier in the park, but he knew where the guy would go, though it was still a pretty big area to search. But Diego was confident he'd be able to spot his bro, he had looked at that ugly mug for forever now, after all.
Diego flew at high speed and was at the beach in few minutes. He doubted Xavier would be nak- I mean, change into a merman on a really public area so Diego flew along the shore the where the beach was more away from prying eyes. And he kept haw eyes on the shore, looking for any people. The few people he saw weren't Xavier at first, but mostly by sheer luck he spotted a lonely blonde head in the sea after a while. Diego was 80% sure it was Xavier, and floated down closer. Though he stopped for a while, blushing, when he saw Xavier really didn't have a shirt, and maybe didn't have pants either. Diego couldn't tell since he was on the water to waist. And when Xavier dropped in the water, probably having a tail now, Diego could feel his blush die down and he flew maybe few meters above Xavier.

"You know, if checking on your sorry ass ruins my image I'm holding you personally responsible, dude."
Diego said with a small grin.

Xavier blinked in surprise when he heard Diego, then looked up. He just kinda stared deadpan up at Diego for a while. "You do realise I am actually naked right now, right? The tail is part of my body and has no clothes over it so I am literally naked." He sounded so calm and serious. Xavier liked teasing Diego, it was just what he did. This was one of those times.

Then, he smirked before he started laughing a lot. "You know, I did warn you. It's not my fault if you decided to come after me even after I said it." He shrugged casually with an innocent tone of voice. He put his arms behind his head, and floated on his back casually. Although he did swim out a bit further, because he could just use his tail rather than his arms.

Xavier looked up at Diego, still maintaining his current position. “So, why’d you chase me out here, bastard? I said I’d try and come back, and even if I couldn’t make it I probably would’ve texted you and Xarrah.” Although he spoke casually, he felt guilty. He hated the thought that he could’ve dragged Diego from having a good time just because he wanted to check on him.

Diego stared back at Xavier, mostly because he was desperately trying to keep his eyes away from the rest of his body, and almost blushed again when Xavier oh, so politely pointed out he was practically naked. But Diego basically forced the blush away with pure willpower, though his ears were still blushed. Xavier was not gonna get him this time...too badly.
"Yeah, har har, like seeing another dude's naked body is even a big deal. Or wait, do you count as a dude, Xandra?"
Diego answered, trying to stay serious, but broke out in a grin soon after and started humming Under the sea.

Diego followed along with Xavier as he swam, floating on his side, and huffed with a bit of a pouty expression.
"I bet you knew I was gonna check on you and did on purpose, you dick."
Diego muttered, still trying to keep his eyes either on the water, the sky or Xavier's face, despite the guy's abs basically being right there. Seriously, Diego swore Xavier was doing that on purpose.

When Xander looked up at Diego and asked why he had come Diego hummed in thought and spun around, as if thinking, but actually he hid an embarrassed blush. He couldn't just say he didn't want Xander to be alone and was worried abput him, that was weird and embarrassing. So after a short moment, when his blush died down, Diego spun around grinning mischievously.
"Just wanted to see your merman look, since Xarrah asked some measurements for the dress~"
Diego snickered and flew a bit closer, putting on a faked innocent look.
"And I just wanted you to enjoy my awesome company, bro."

Xavier smirked and chuckled as he watched Diego. "You even know I'm into dudes, man." He laughed a whole bunch with that. But then he just narrowed his eyes at Diego. "This is why I'd sacrifice you as an offering to the blood god, ass. Put a dress of anything like that on me and I let Dani sick you." He had put on a mockingly serious tone as he frowned. It was obviously a joke though. To confirm it indeed was, he splashed the water next to him high enough to splash Diego a bit.

Xavier stopped looking at Diego and instead stared up at the sky. "I did do it on purpose, yeah." He had a complete neutral tone and blank look on his face. "I said it because I didn't want anyone to follow me. I hate being seen like this." He had a very honest and calm sound to his voice. Xavier hated lying, so he wouldn't lie to Diego. It was true. He absolutely hated being seen in this form, it made him feel bitter and hollow because it just confirmed that he truly wasn't human anymore. He hated that.

The comment also served as a response to Diego's comment wanting to see Xavier like this. It caused Xavier to flinch ever so slightly. He couldn't even walk naturally anymore, he had to wear a shape charm. What he had to go through to become this... he almost drowned and the memory of it haunted his dreams. He couldn't even get started on the dreams. It had been the exact same one every single night, and every single time he awoke in fear. "You shouldn't get worried about me, Diego. Especially since I know you're not completely okay. What's up?" He finally stopped drifting and he looked at Diego.

Diego tried not to flinch or react in any big way, when Xavier so openly just said he liked dudes. Yeah, Diego knew he did, and he was jealous Xavier could just...say it like that, be open about it. The dude didn't lie, and Diego couldn't do anything but lie about everything. That was also why he had lost Gabe...
Diego mentally shook it off, when he almost got all gloomy again. Just when, thanks to Xavier, he had turned back to normal back in the MC3.
"Even if you wanna stare at naked dudes all day doesn't mean I wanna."
Diego said with a grin, that didn't quite reach his eyes, and stuck out his tongue. He tried dodging the splash of water with a cackle, but yelped a bit when some cold water landed on his legs.
"Goddamn that's cold!'

Diego immediately regretted every joke he had made about Xavier being a merman now, when he saw how it pained Xavier, and made a mental note to never joke about it again. And it sure as hell didn't make Diego worry about his friend any less, and he floated lower and closer to Xavier.
"I'm sorry, bro. I really am."
Diego said with all the sincerity he could muster, and the look in his eyes was really regretful. Diego joked around a lot, was almost never serious, that's how he coped. But when he was serious he really meant it, and Xavier knew that. Diego felt like giving Xavier a hug, but that was a bit hard when the other was in the air and other in the water.
Huh, that thought gave Diego a graffiti idea.

This time Diego flinched a bit, when Xavier asked what was up with him and looked at him. Of course Xavier had noticed. Well, Diego bet a bunch of others had noticed too, at least they had noticed that Diego was tired. He had slept on the couch, since he couldn't sleep in the same room with Gabe. It hurt too much, would've been awkward. And it would also be awkward to tell Xavier Diego was heartbroken, so he smiled and spun upside down.
"Me? Nah, the only thing not okay with me is that Gabe beat my ass in Mario Kart. Do you realize how humiliating it is to lose to Peach?"
Diego said and laughed, he thought he was doing a pretty good job at covering his gloominess.
