Hiatus
One thing Buttercup had instantly fallen in love with in Manta Carlos was the nature. The island was overflowing with plant life and it was all diffrent from the small balcony garden she had taken care of back in Kansas, surrounded by a relatively large town she had never even gotten to see.
But here her rabbit nature was flourishing along with all the bushes, flowers and trees that could be found everywhere. Being a person, if she could be called that, was very strange for Buttercup and so was the island. But being midst all this greenery was worth it.

Buttercup was humming her own made-up melody as she squatted by the trees, next to the lake near the academy. She was sporting a pink and yellow checkered flanel shirt, sleeves rolled, and under that a white tank top. She had denim shorts and, as always, bare feet. On Buttercup's head there was a strawhat, that she had put some feathers on. Buttercup's fur on her face and arms was here and there smeared with dirt as she carefully dug up some wild flowers with a small shovel, roots and all. Buttercup wanted to appreciate the flowers' beauty for a long time and years to come so she had decided to plant them in the academy gardens, on her own personal flowerbed.

One by one Buttercup set the flower in a basket she had brought with her, smiling all the while. She loved getting her hands dirty while working, feeling like she really accomplished something through her own effort and work. And working in the garden and with plants was her own personal sanctuary, her happy place.
Suddenly, just as Buttercup had set the fourth flower in the basket, two ravens took flight from a nearby tree. Buttercup let out a small yelp, the rabbit in her screaming danger, and jumped up. Doing so Buttercup knocked down her basket and caused the flowers to spread all over the place.
"Oh crud! That's it Buttercup, jump at every shadow. That's gonna help you get adjusted to this place."
Buttercup talked to herself as she bend down and started gathering the flowers carefully back into the basket.

"Look for the bare necessities the simple bare necessities forget about your worries and your strife." Walter hummed as he lazily floated on his back a little ways from the shore glancing at the little rabbit now and then. 'I wonder when she's going to notice me, after all, I'm a giant white bear surrounded by dark water,' He thought while looking up at the blue sky as clouds slowly drift by. "Ok, now I feel like a stocker." He huffed while untying the sizeable black cloth from around his nack before diving under the water. His massive paws propelling him efertlisly throw the murky water towards the shore near the rabbit.

As he made his way throw the shallow waters, he carefully secured the knee length cloth around his waist under his ample belly. AS he reached the shore, two crows fled from there perch as if they're trying to warn the bunny about the large predator making his way towards her. "You alright hun you seem a little jumpy?" He asked in a friendly manner while picking up a flower that landed a little farther away from the girl.

Buttercup turned around at the friendly voice asking if she was okay, small smile on her face and ready to chat. But when she actually saw who, or more like what as the rabbit in her informed, was behind her Buttercup felt air escape her lungs. It was a bear, a huge white bear, that was holding her flower. Buttercup's common sense tried to wrestle her rabbit nerves for a few seconds, telling her that the bear had been friendly and even picked up her flowr for her, as she just stared at the giant before. Buttercup flailed her arms around a bit as she took a step back, her eyes wide with fear. Her ears went down as she looked around for an escape route. But running away would be incredibly rude. Buttercup, as she spoke, had the tiniest voice.
"I...I'm fine...just collecting flowers...for my garden...please don't eat me..."

Walters smile never faltered even as the little rabbit before him started freaking out after she realized what he was. 'She's quite brave,' He mused as he watched her gradually overcome her instinks to run.

"It's a beautiful flower," He said kindly completely ignoring the last bit of her sentence as he moved to sit down being careful not to flash the panicking girl. "I was never varied good at gardening, But the mountains where I lived before coming here has valleys of wildflowers in every size, shape, and color of the rainbow." Walter looks off into the distance remembering the rolling hills and how he would spend hours just drawing. "Anyway my names Walter or Walt for short whats your?" He asked with a kind smile as he leaned forward offering the flower to the Girl careful not to show any teeth.

Buttercup's whole body was tense and alert as the bear, person?, complimented the flower and sat down, resuming speaking with a calm, kind tone. It helped Buttercup relax slightly, and she listened to his words, now with interest since he was talking about one of Buttercup's favourite subjects. She imagined the valleys of wildflowers, could almost smell it and feel the life flowing through all those beautiful plants. Her ears perched just a bit, only to go back down when the person leaned forward slightly, offering the flower back to Buttercup. Buttercup noticed he was very careful not to act threatning in any way and she appreciated that immensely. Buttercup didn't have that good of a grip from her prey instincts yet and it made some situations quite difficult for her.
But Buttercup swallowed and got a determined expression in her eyes as she slowly inched forward and took the flower with shaking paws.
"I-I'm B-Buttercup."
Buttercup hugged the flower gently against her chest and took a step backwards again, but not to escape but to see tye bear properly. Now Buttercup observed Walter with less fear, and her natural curiosity was lifting its head carefully. The rabbit in her was still screaming Buttercup to run for her life if she didn't want to be eaten but it was much easier to dismiss now.
"Y-you are not gonna hurt me, right?"

"Well that's a pretty name." The bear hummed while straightening up and scratching the white fur under his chin, pulling a large water bug out of his fur between two blunt claws. "I'm not going to hurt you Buttercub," Walter said as he carelessly tossed the bug over his shoulder towards the lake. "After all, I'm more of a teddy bear then anything an if you haven't noticed I'm not really built for fast activities." He finished with a soft chuckle while gesturing to his ample belly and stumpy legs.

"So do you go to starlight?" He hummed while slowly moving to lay on his left side. His left hand bracing his large head as his right scratched absentmindedly at his ample belly.

Buttercup nodded at Walter's compliment and watched carefully, how he dug a rather large water bug from his fur. Watching that almost made Buttercup miss Walter's next words, and her gaze snapped back onto his face only to sink again when her instincts told her not to make eye contact.
"I'm mighty sorry for my behaviour. It's just my prey instincts actin' up, my brain ain't used to being people yet."
Buttercup glanced at Walter apologetically and moved to set the flower in her hands to the basket. Never turning her back to Walter.
"Even if my mind knows you ain't gonna eat me my instincts tell me to run and hide in the closest hole..."

Buttercup was able to keep herself from jumping away when Walter lay on his side. It was mostly thanks to him doing it slowly so Buttercup had time to adjust. Butteecup, though she was still reasy to jump and run at a moment's notice, went down on her knees facing Walter and started digging up a flower carefully to keep her mind and hands busy.
"Yeah, I certainly do. Going to remedial classes, to learn all abput this human business."
