Name: Henry Rosencrantz Paul Lane
Age: 9
Birthday: December 2nd
Gender: Male.
Species: Human
Category: Student
Class: Elementary.
Grade: Grade 4
Appearance Description: Henry stands at 4'9 and is quite lanky, with long limbs that he hadn’t quite grown into it. His hair is dark brown in colour, curly and messy, falling down to his eyebrows. His eyes are a greenish brown. He has a slightly upturned snub nose and freckles. He wears a pair of blue-framed glasses with thick lenses that are slightly too big for his face. As he has a vision defect, he is legally blind without glasses. He is usually quite well dressed and very clean. This, in addition to his height, often gives the illusion that he is older than he is.
Personality Description: Henry, paired with his looks, is a solemn, taciturn child. He rarely speaks, and when he does, he uses as little words as necessary. He prefers to spend his time alone. Often, he would tail adults, unsure how to interact with people in his age group. This is largely because of his family environment with two much-older siblings that he tailed around. He is of few words but certainly not timid or a pushover. He treats everything with the same kind of quiet acceptance, never demonstrating much outwards emotion to people. However, he is actually quite curious. Henry is very stubborn and determined. Once he had set himself a goal, he wouldn’t give up until he had reached it. This also applies to the things he want to know. These two traits had landed him in some trouble before, but as a result of that he also does very well in school. He is particularly talented in maths, working on middle-school level maths despite being only 9 years old, from his family's encouragement. Although quiet, Henry is kind. He believes in the best of people, perhaps because of his young age, and would not hesitate to help someone in need. His kindness borders on selflessness. Henry had been raised as a Catholic. He does not necessarily conform fully to those beliefs, but much of his worldview is impacted by it.
Species Abilities: He’s a human being.
Powers:
TELEPATHY - Henry had known for a long time that he could read the thoughts of other people. At first, he believed that it was the voice of God speaking to him. After truly listening to the contents of the thoughts, Henry realised that his was not a deity but in fact the thoughts of other people. He can listen in to the thoughts of others, and at will shut off his power or concentrate on one person. The thoughts that he recieve are usually only surface level thoughts. However, if he concentrates, he is occasionally able to extract memories and the deeper parts of a person's consciousness. However, he still does not have full control over his power. He can only listen to the thoughts of people in a 100m proximity to him, and he is still unable to send telepathic messages, although he does have the ability to receive them. Henry cannot read minds if the owner is shielded from him with metal.
MIND BLAST - Only partially known to him, Henry has the ability to telepathically overload other people’s minds, leaving them startled at best or in a vegetative state at worst. This power is very new to him and he is unable to control it. Extreme emotion can often cause him to mind blast people in his proximity and he cannot mind blast at will, instead blindly lashing out when he is overwhelmed, afraid or angry. His mind blast is not restricted by metal shielding unlike his telepathy, but his target has to be in his visible range.
Biography: Henry had never truly known his biological family. His father left his mother several months after Henry was born, and Henry’s mother was mentally unstable and died in childbirth giving birth to Henry’s younger sister, who also did not survive. Henry was effectively orphaned, but fortunately a young couple with two other children decided to take him in. Henry grew up in Sheffield, England, with loving parents and two elder siblings, Owen and Odelia. The family was quite well-off and Catholic, believing in doing good for people. His family never treated him differently than their own, and even though Henry was raised knowing that he was adopted he never felt left out. He attended a local school and did well in his studies, participating in cricket and football out of school, as well as learning how to play the violin. His telepathic abilities first emerged in nursery school. He truly learnt their purpose and how to use them in his second year in primary school, keeping his abilities a secret to himself. Life went by smoothly as it does. However, walking home from school with his siblings one day, they were confronted by a group of criminals. One of them swooped Odelia up in his arms, and Owen struggled to break free from another. Henry remembered being very, very angry… then nothing. When he came to, he was in a hospital and the criminals had been rendered into a vegetative state. After a lengthy discussion, his parents decided that the most reasonable option was to send Henry to Starlight Academy.
Additional Information: Henry is legally blind without his glasses.
