Chloe made the offer before she realized why she was making it. And now, following a giant snake woman to her dorm with a book under her arm, she was trying to understand her own motivations.

Chloe could empathize with Corsalyn's situation. Stranded in another world away from almost everything she knew. Chloe knew what that was like. Corsalyn had it a lot worse, in a way. She didn't entirely understand what computers were, and she couldn't even read yet. These surroundings were unfamiliar to the snake woman.

She also realized that she was making up for an experience she couldn't share with Amber. The plan was for Chloe to read out loud to Corsalyn and let her follow along, just like how Chloe herself learned to read better with her parents. Amber had outgrown any need for that before they had even met. She was learning the historical context of Animal Farm before Chloe even realized there was something there to miss out on. And now, she would get to have something like that with Corsalyn.

Not that Chloe thought of Corsalyn like her daughter. That would make some of Chloe's other feelings about Corsalyn really weird and gross. She would wonder if she was trying to get into Corsalyn's pants, but giant snake ladies didn't wear those.

The book Chloe chose was about Ancient Greek myths. It was written at an elementary level, and illustrated, which Chloe thought would help. "So have you heard anything about Hercules or Zeus or the ancient Greek gods before?" She asked. She didn't know which of these doors led to Corsalyn's room.

She hadn't been here very long. In this world a few weeks, and in her new home only a week or so. Needless to say, she was still having a great deal of trouble adjusting to life here. Everything was different from how it was back home. Here she was expected to follow rules, attend classes, and be on her best behavior. She couldn't use her magic and had to use vouchers for food. To make everything more difficult, the people here liked to communicate in written word, which was something she had never learned to do.

In truth, up till this point, she had never needed to learn written word. Not in this human language anyway. In her own tongue writing was redundant. And since she had very little contact with humans outside of eating them, she had had no reason to learn their writing. As luck would have it though, Corsalyn had met a spry young demoness who had offered her tutoring.

Chloe and Corsalyn had met a few times, and there had been a growing intensity between them. Corsalyn had broken the touch barrier on more than one occasion and had even nearly crushed Chloe during one of those times. (Accidentally of course) Needless to say, it was hard to deny the chemistry they had begun to develop.

"It's this room here..." Corsalyn said as she pointed to her door. It was room 31, located next to the showers on the third floor of the dorms. It had at one point been used by Aylin while she attended school in her early years.

Corsalyn pushed the door open revealing the room. It was fairly empty, with most of the space being taken up by a desk, a book shelf, and a custom made bed. The bed itself was the largest thing in the room. It was shaped like a large square box with a carved out bowl. It was designed to have maximum air flow under the bowl, with heating coils that allowed for adjustments in temperature as needed. It had been made for Aylin originally, so Corsalyn was not able to fit her entire body inside the bowl.

"I know it's a bit small... But it does the job." She said as she slipped into the room, and immediately began to pour herself into the bed. After a few moments, she sat nestled neatly among her coils, while a large amount of her tail hung out over the edge of the bed.

"So. Have a seat. make yerself comfy." She patted one of her coils and gestured for Chloe to sit on it next to her.

Even if it was too small for Corsalyn, Chloe wasn't sure she could call it small. Aside from its bowl shape, it almost reminded her of Malara's infamous circle bed. It was even temperature controlled like the circle bed, if those were heating coils under it.

What a connection to make! She couldn't stop her mind from going down those roads.

"I didn't know they even made beds like this. Mine wasn't this fancy." She climbed into the bed-bowl after Corsalyn, crawling over several coils on the way to the spot Corsalyn had gestured to. They had already made a habit of getting up in each other's personal space; this wasn't so different. She shot a smile up at Corsalyn when she got there.

"So, this is a book about mythology from this world. Old stories about gods that most people don't worship anymore, and I'm not sure how true they are either." Chloe opened it to the table of contents and read the titles of the stories out loud, sliding her finger along to each word as she read it, making sure Corsalyn could see them and follow along.
