Lavender was sitting in front of -not really in front of, she's pretty away from it- the fireplace, watching the fire dance. She had nothing to do. She was bored. What Lavender will do while there's nothing?

Sushi was rather confused when his dorm parent took him by the hand and led him out of the hall. She didn’t usually take him places so early in the day and he couldn’t understand her well enough to figure out what she was telling him.

After making their way though several twists, turns, and staircases, she seemed to greet a friend of her’s and then take Sushi’s hand and give him over to this other person.

Sushi had no idea what was going on, but the truth of the matter was that his dorm parent had to leave for the day and was entrusting him to a friend, another dorm parent, to take care of him during that time.

Lavender’s dorm parent then took Sushi to the common room, anything they said went over his head though.

When they got there, the dorm parent said something else that he didn’t understand to the girl inside, then let go of his hand.

As soon as the dorm parents finished talking, Lavender stood up slowly and tried to approach Sushi as much friendly as she could. The boy seemed very nervous -or Lavender thought so-, so she needed to be... Friendly and accepting.

"Oh, hello!" Lavender says happily.

Sushi stared up at the dorm parent speaking, listening for words he could make out but not getting much. Before long, his gaze moved to the girl in the room, staring at her from behind his scuba helmet. As she approached, he caught the word hello. They were greeting him.

"Hello, I am Sushi." Sushi said those few words before drifting back into silence, though his eyes were still focused on the girl.

Seeing the mysterious boy reply put a big smile on Lavender's face. "I'm Lavender" she says slowly, seems like the little fish boy could understand slow talking.

Sushi actually understood that too. “Hello Lavender. How are you?”

It was still confusing as to why he was here in this strange room with these strangers, but he figured this was just a normal thing.

Despite that Sushi seems like he only understands simple talking, it made Lavender cheer up. Another friend to talk to! How nice.

"I'm good, thanks. And you?" she asks slowly and clearly.

Sushi stared blankly for several seconds, trying to understand the phrase Lavender said. And you? He understood both of those words to some extent but couldn't figure out that use of them. Either way, he supposed he could respond to the word thanks at least. "You are welcome."

Lavender thought that weird, unexpected, responses were totally fine; especially for young and mysterious people such as Sushi. She has not get wearisome and repeated the sentence:

"I am okay, thank you. How are you?" Lavender said in grains. Maybe simplifying it would help.

That time he understood. How are you. He'd actually been taught that one fairly recently. "I am well, thank you for-" He seemed to struggle with his words a little as they echoed out from the small speaker on his helmet. "For... For..." He couldn't remember what it was, he almost had it though.

It bothered him that he couldn't think of it, but he seemed to let it go.
