Feeling shitty wasn't anything new for Diego. He had spent most of his fucking life feeling shitty about himself, his situation and his surroundings, everything. Well, almost everything. Diego had never felt shitty because of Gabe, or his mom. Those two had usually been the ones to wipe all the shittyness away, at least while Diego was with them.
Damn, Diego missed Gabe and Catalina so much.
But he refused to see either. Diego had refused to see anyone from Halcyon city after arriving on this new dimension. Diego hadn't interacted with them beyond brief moments and even those made him want to burst into tears. That was pathetic. Diego could almost hear his father laughing and mocking him, taunting Diego even after the guy had decided all on his own to shoot his brains out. Diego could still see the blood and brains on the floor and wall, he saw nightmares about it every night. Diego didn't grieve his father, the man had been a waste of human life, but he had left a part of himself in Diego and Diego felt like that part was taking him over and turning him into...a monster.
Diego, who had already wrapped himself into a ball, wrapped around himself even tighter and bit his lip. The inside of his mind felt murky and stuffy, like he couldn't breathe anymore.
Diego refused to let the tears fall, but he didn't know how much longer his mind could keep itself together enough to allow him to attend enough classes to not get in trouble. Diego wasn't a bad student, he got Bs and Cs, but he had a feeling that if this went on he was going to get hit on the face with big fat Fs and "See me after class" notes. Diego wanted to avoid that no matter what. If his dad found o-
Oh, wait, his dad...was gone. Diego was free to fuck up his life and no one was there to care. That made Diego let out a bitter laugh and he straightened his back a bit, looking at the forest that spread before him. The forest had one tree that was much taller than the other ones, and Diego had made it his own personal spot. He was kind of like a cat, he liked being high up, and thanks to being able to fly Diego could manage it most of the time. The tallest building, the tallest tree, the tallest hill. You could bet Diego wanted to be there and touch the top.
But now Diego was getting hungry, and his cheetos had run out a while ago. He'd got to fly down and get some cafeteria food. In this island it was actually good, unlike back in Diego's old school.
Diego like floating through the woods on the ground level, nature reminded him of Gabe and gave him peace of mind and something to smile about for once.
Diego stood up and hopped down from his branch, slowly floating down down down towards the ground.
