Sarah was never the type to go to bars, or any social places that weren't restaurants. It wasn't her scene, but she had promised her young friend, Anna that she'd drop by to see her perform. It had been a while honestly, and she didn't want to lose touch with someone who she befriended in ways that didn't involve work.

And in addition, Sarah brought along Belladonna to get her more acquainted with crowds. It was a useful opportunity. Sarah had told the android a lot about Anna, at least what she knew, and she wanted to test if she was capable of carrying on conversations with her. If Anna was able to stay with them for a bit at least.

Sarah's first impression of the establishment was that it was beautifully made, and appropriately-themed, given its location and the name. She saw that tables were mostly taken, but she had found a few suitable spots. The one she chose however was a little bit to the back which currently had the least amount of illumination. Given that she was weaing a dark trench coat and some gloves to hide her metallic appendages, she looked a little shifty, especially with Belladonna who looked like she could be working in a place like this for her innocent looks alone.

While waiting for Anna to come on stage, Sarah ordered some drinks and some snacks for Belladonna and herself. While the former didn't need to eat, she was given the sense of taste. It might be weird, but Sarah wanted to see if she would develop any preferences for food. The potential was there, but she wanted to see it in action as well.

Anna was very excited for tonight's performance. She bounced a little on her stool as she sat at her dressing table, working on her makeup. Sarah was going to be in the audience tonight! Anna liked Sarah, they'd been through a lot together, and they hadn't really gotten a chance to hang out since the car crash, but that was okay; both of the girls tended to be a little on the busy side, Sarah with her work and Anna with both work and school. Finally, though, they'd be able to hang out once Anna finished her set! She was looking forward to it.

Draped in a long blue-and-sea-green gown embellished with tiny faux crystals on the bodice and around the hem, Anna took a good look at herself in the full-length mirror before heading to the wings. She waited for the emcee to introduce her and took the stage, gliding across the floor to the grand piano that stood just left of center as the audience's cheers roared in her ears. She'd been making quite the name for herself here at the club, and tended to be pretty popular with the locals.

The lights on the stage were too bright for her to make out any of the faces in the darkened club, but she knew that Sarah would be out there somewhere. It was time to give it her all. Anna took a seat at the piano and ran her fingers gingerly over the keys, adjusting the microphone that was mounted nearby. With everything in order, she began her performance, her voice sweet and velvety as she went into a slow jazz piece, accompanied nicely by her almost-effortless playing of the piano beneath her fingertips.

While waiting for Anna to come on stage, Sarah had been glancing at the other patrons. Not because she was suspicious or attempting to profile them as people who might be a danger, but because they looked so exotic to her. At the moment, it seemed she was seeing a lot more aquatic citizens here, which made sense considering the theming and location of this club. A lot of them were actually mesmerizing.

Before long, Anna came onto the stage with a beautiful dress. It didn't seem as she saw them in the back, but that might be for the best, Sarah didn't want to distract her while performing. Both Sarah and Belladonna were sitting in silence as Anna sang. Belladonna was recording everything in her memory much like how humans did so, but with superior fidelity. Sarah simply enjoyed the tune. Anna was talented with her voice and her hands. She wondered if those talents were from her heritage, or she had taken classes for them. Either way, Sarah was enjoying herself.

Anna's powers seeped easily into her performance, captivating the audience with the magic of her music. She'd been getting much better, training both her voice and her powers often had certainly paid off. Vanessa was proud of her, too, which made it even better. Her boss was like the mother she'd never had but always wanted; someone who she could look up to and get guidance from. Anna loved her job. It was so rewarding, even beyond just the paycheck.

Her set continued its jazzy theme. She sang sweetly to her patrons, her fingers dancing gracefully over the keys. After about half an hour of performing, she concluded her set and took her bow to the thunderous applause before drifting off into the wings.

The girl appeared in the patron's area a bit later, still garbed in her costume, and searched the tables until she found Sarah sitting at a table. And she wasn't alone. Who was the other girl? Anna made her way over to her friend. "Hey! So glad you could make it!" she greeted Sarah, giving her a big hug. "Hi," she introduced herself to Sarah's friend, "I'm Anna. Thank you for coming." She held out her hand in offering to the stranger with a bright smile.

The two enjoyed every bit of the girl's performance. Sarah was captivated by Anna's voice in ways that were only reserved for the songs her dad used to play around the house. It was a fondness that she rarely gave to anything.

Sarah joined in on the applause as Anna took her bow, and to be honest, she was already missing hearing her singing. Once the applause died down, Sarah sat back with a sigh and a sip of her drink. Amusingly, Belladonna mirrored her actions.

When she saw Anna come out, Sarah stood up and openly hugged her, although not too tightly. She didn't want to ruin the dress, and she wasn't quite sure of how well Anna's body had been since the crash. "I wish I could have seen you sooner. You were exceptional."

Being greeted next, Belladonna smiled. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Anna. I am Belladonna. Mama wanted me to meet you."

Oh, this was going to take some explaining, wasn't it. "Come, let's sit down," Sarah said, gently leading the singer to their seats.

Anna raised an eyebrow. 'Mama'? She took a seat at the table and a waiter came by to drop off some water for her. She sipped at it, letting the cool drink refresh her throat. It was important to stay hydrated, especially before and after a performance. Vanessa always made sure that she drank enough water while she was at work, because Anna would often forget to take care of herself, she was so focused on her music.

"So...Belladonna is your...daughter?" Anna asked dubiously. Sarah didn't seem old enough to have kids, plus she was a cyborg...were cyborgs able to have kids? It hadn't been nine months since she'd seen Sarah, so maybe Belladonna was adopted? That must have been it. Or something else perhaps that she hadn't thought of.

As Belladonna nodded at Anna's reaction, Sarah scratched the back of her neck and chuckled a little. Chuckling, now that was something she had been doing frequently. "In a way," she said, as if not knowing how to answer. "Well I did make her, and perhaps in a way 'birthed' her, but she isn't my biological daughter." She said the latter part on a lower volume, mostly to keep anyone outside the three of them from hearing.

"Belladonna is an android that I gave an AI that is capable of human-level capabilities. Thoughts, emotions, morality, all that." She left out the part about the AI she was adapted from was used as a combat AI, because this will simply make things even harder to explain. After all, as Belladonna was watching ice slowly melt inside the glass she had, she hardly looked combat-capable, or threatening at the very least.

"I thought I'd let her see someone perform and see how she enjoyed it."

Anna had to lean forward a little to hear what Sarah was saying when she lowered her voice, listening carefully. Ohhhh. Okay. So Belladonna was an android that Sarah had built. "That's really cool!" Anna replied, looking Belladonna over once more. She looked pretty human, Sarah had done a rather good job. Sarah was a scientist or something like that, after all.

"Hey, come to think of it, we never did do those test thingies. And I never got to make you lunch. And I've got even more powers now. I can grow wings, apparently it's my true form as a siren. Who knew, right?" There had been a lot going on since the car crash. "A doctor with healing powers fixed me up a few days after I got released from the hospital, he was in high demand so it took a little longer than expected but I was all fixed up and good as new. And I've made lots of friends. And I...started seeing this guy named June? He's pretty nice."

While the two were talking, Belladonna was looking around at all the different kinds of patrons in the club. Most of them looked human, but some had some defining characteristics that said otherwise. This interested her, not unlike a child inside a toy store.

Sarah was surprised at how much Anna had gone through since her time at the hospital, and it got the scientist curious. Wings? That was something she didn't know sirens had. Usually the stories would paint them as merfolk with exceptional singing talents that bends the minds of those who hears it.

"I'm happy for you, Anna. I do hope this June is treating you fairly."

Anna nodded, "As far as I can tell." Though hanging out with him was rather exhausting at times. Every time she came home from a date, she felt drained of all her energy. It was strange. At one point she'd ended up sleeping almost an entire day away because she'd been so tired. Anna wasn't sure what the cause of it was, but she hoped she wasn't getting sick or anything, because that would certainly put a damper on her work.

Her dark eyes slid over to Belladonna, who seemed to be taking in the crowd. "It gets pretty busy in here on the weekends," she said absently. "We get a lot of different kinds of people, sometimes Miss Vanessa introduces me to some of them. I've met a few Fae, and a very drunk dwarf a few weeks ago. They're an interesting bunch."

She tilted her head at Belladonna, "It's a lot to take in, huh?"
