Character's Name: Cordelia Marion Moor
Character's Age: Appears mid 40s
Characters Birthday: December 13
Character's Gender: Female
Species: Human
Category: NPC - Staff
Occupation: Headmistress of Starlight Academy
Appearance Description:
Cordelia's coarse black hair is cropped short, less than an inch long on her scalp. Her dark blue eyes are nearly black, with a proud gaze full of serenity. She has a youthful, smooth, somewhat angular face despite her age and a bulbous nose. Her skin is a cool deep shade, a bluish brown as dark as midnight.
Her body is thick and strong, muscles making up most of the weight in her body. Even with her incredible strength and aging, Cordelia has retained her voluminous curves. Cordelia stands tall and strong at 5'11" and is around 200 pounds.
When it comes to clothes, Cordelia dresses sharp, loving to incorporate maroon colors into her outfits. She has no days off, and it's clear in her fierce fashion statement of pencil skirts and professional style.
Personality Description:
If you could summarize Cordelia Moor into a single word, it would be fierce. She has a spitfire energy that has kept her young after all these years, and it's enough to keep her going for many many more. Despite her lively energy, she has an inner peace that keeps her reigned in and calm despite even the most drastic of situations. Although not exactly witty, her acerbic comments are usually enough to get under peoples' skin. She's talkative and always has something to say about everything, regardless of whether or not people want to hear it, which proves to be annoying more often than not. Overall, Cordelia is strong, independent, and brutally honest, and feels that she doesn't need friends to help her in life, and doesn't mind if her opinions or even facts hurt other people.
Gaining this woman's trust is a feat one should be proud of, as it's a hard thing to accomplish. Cordelia is stubborn as a mule and once her mind is set on something, it's going to take a hell of a lot of effort to get her to change. She doesn't change for anyone but herself, but tries to be flexible in her role as a leader. Because of t he innate nature of the school, she really has no respect for government, authority, the gods, though she most certainly isn't an anarchist. She believes people should have respect based on their character.
Her maternal instincts are very strong, and if she finds that anyone has wronged any of her students, she's very quick to defend them and to make sure they are out of harms way. If you put a score against her, you are certain to land in hell.
Powers:
Primal Spirit Manifestation
Cordelia has the ability to command a total of four ancient elemental spirits, one of each basic element: Earth, Air, Fire, Water. Each of these spirits is not only intelligent and fully capable of conversation and conscious decisions, but also highly competent in manners of combat and objective-based tasks. Each spirit has its own distinct personality and abilities relevant to the element they belong to. In addition to commanding these spirits, Cordelia can see and interact with anything on the spirit plane (ghosts, etc) as this is where her spirits typically reside.
Normally, the elementals remain hidden on the spirit plane, and can only be seen or heard by Cordelia or others who can see things on the spirit plane. These entities have the ability to notice when other people can see spirits, and tend to shy away from them to keep from being noticed. While on the spirit plane, the elementals cannot typically interact with those who have no awareness of the spirit plane. However, they are still able to travel fairly quickly and observe surroundings. They have no requirement to stay near her, and can travel any distance asked of them by her. But, they can only communicate with her through vocal speech. Thus, in order to feed her information they must travel back to her to deliver the information in person. They can travel fairly quickly in the spirit form (some faster than others, namely air and water) but their movement is not instantaneous. While in spirit form, they take the shape of a small wisp with details relevant to their element.
At Cordelia's command, the spirits can manifest themselves on the material plane (our world)in a shape respectful to their element. Their size can also vary by her command, being the size of a small animal or up to and including the size of a large house. The larger and stronger she orders them to manifest as, the more energy it takes from her. A lifetime of practice at this means she is very adept at controlling her spirits for both day-to-day tasks and combat.
In addition to their spirit form and physical form, one spirit at a time can also temporarily "merge" with Cordelia for a short period of time. The benefits of this vary for each spirit, but she is able to mentally communicate with them during this process.
Below is a list of the spirits and information pertaining to them, including name, personality, and abilities:
Sylphus, Spirit of Wind
Sylphus was the first spirit Cordelia formed a pact with. Sylphus has a very feminine voice and caring personality. She is very easy going and considerate of others, if a little overly playful. She seems to legitimately enjoy her time with Cordelia, constantly bugging her about day-to-day tasks and begging to help. While she is the best for advice and is generally good for consolation, she can at times be somewhat annoying for Cordelia to deal with. When given a command, Sylphus will always do her best to fulfill the command, even if she has to improvise. She will not, however, hurt another living being unless directly ordered to do so or if there is legitimately no way to fulfill her objective, even if this means her death. Cordelia has never once heard Sylphus say something impolite or hateful towards another. If ordered to harm another, she will fulfill the order but constantly apologize while doing so. Sylphus is the fastest and most agile of all the spirits.
In her spirit form, she appears as a small green-blue glowing orb. In spirit form, she can make small gusts of wind on the material plane which is used for little more than playing around with other people who don't realize she is there. Quite likely, she is the source of many "ghost" rumors in the academy.
In material form, she generally is just a mass of green-blue energy with the silhouette of a small humanoid fairy. At her largest, she is about the size of an average human. She is able to create large gusts of wind, capable of even blowing over buildings. Her strongest ability would be the creation of a tornado, although this takes much time to gather the energy, and the tornado does not last a very long period of time nor is it as strong as natural tornadoes created in weather. Sylphus can also fly in this state, and is very fast.
When she merges with Cordelia, she grants Cordelia the ability to fly and create strong gusts of wind. She also has much faster movement, weighs much less (although she physically does not appear different), and is very agile. These benefits vary depending on how much of her power she uses, but are never as potent as Sylphus is on her own.
Terrus, Spirit of Earth
Terrus was the second spirit Cordelia formed a pact with. Terrus has a very rough, masculine voice. He is very blunt, stubborn, and lazy. He will follow orders but only improvise to complete his mission. He will never go out of his way to do something unless ordered to do so. Despite his laziness, he will never return to Cordelia without fulfilling an order, no matter what he has to do (even if it means his death). Otherwise, he simply hangs around Cordelia and says/does nothing unless her safety is at stake. When Cordelia or the other spirits attempt to talk to him, he gives quick, blunt answers and acts annoyed. Terrus is the slowest of all spirits but is very durable and physically strong.
In his spirit form, he is a small rock that constantly changes shape and color. In this form, he can only bang against things to make loud noises (but cannot ever damage them). While one could potentially pin other "ghost" experiences on Terrus, he never actually does this unless ordered to or it somehow helps him achieve an objective.
In material form, he can be anywhere from a small humanoid child-like shape to a large mass of boulders with limbs the size of a house. He is ridiculously strong and durable. If he takes damage, he can quickly regenerate. However, he is rather slow and not very agile.
When he merges with Cordelia, her skin becomes as strong as stone and she gains superhuman strength. If she does end up taking damage, she can also regenerate. Any damage at all (even lost limbs) are regenerated. Only death can stop this regeneration. This regeneration applies even if it happened before she merged with Terrus. While merged with Terrus, Cordelia is fairly slow and not very agile. She becomes extremely heavy and her skin gains a stone-like shine to it (the shape of her body itself does not change). These benefits vary depending on how much of her power she uses, but are never as potent as Terrus is on his own.
Infernus, Spirit of Fire
Infernus was the third spirit Cordelia formed a pact with. Infernus has a maniacal, masculine voice. He is very loud, obnoxious, and opinionated. He believes everything can be solved with the use of fire. Monsters hurting students? Burn them. Sylphus being annoying? Burn her. Student constantly getting into trouble? Burn them. Too much paperwork? Burn it. He has little care for feelings or anything of the sort, not hesitating even to taunt or poke fun at his master. When giving orders, he ensures they are carried out. However, he will complete the objective in whatever manner he pleases unless strictly ordered to do so a certain way. Infernus will always improvise if allowed, and will always give his all to complete an objective (even if it means someone else's [even an ally's] death). If he feels his best efforts cannot complete the objective, he will self destruct himself and make as big of an explosion as possible (even if it will in no way help the objective be completed, and even if it is detrimental to anyone else trying to complete it). If he self destructs, he'll go out with as ridiculously maniacal of a laugh as he can muster. Infernus is the strongest of the spirits in terms of raw destructive power. He is also moderately quick and agile.
In his spirit form, he is a small will-o-wisp esque creature, with the appearance of a floating bright flame. In this form, he can create a strong smell of sulfur if he chooses to, and he occasionally enjoys doing so to annoy Cordelia and anyone else near her. He can also create small flames (to light candles, etc) but only if Cordelia orders it.
In material form, he can appear as a humanoid entity made entirely of fire ranging from the size of a small child to the above average height of an adult. With enough power, Cordelia can cause him to become a giant, legless blob of lava with arms about the size of a car. In his material form he can not only light anything he touches on fire if he chooses to (he can also choose not to, but he won't unless ordered), but he can also throw fireballs which vary in size depending on how much power Cordelia gives him. Since he is made of fire, mundane physical attacks have no effect on him.
When he merges with Cordelia, she becomes nearly weightless, is immune to the effects of heat and fire, and can cause herself to be lit aflame at will (her physical shape does not change). She can also conjure fire and throw fireballs. These benefits vary depending on how much of her power she uses, but are never as potent as Infernus is on his own.
Aquilus, Spirit of Water
Aquilus was the fourth spirit Cordelia formed a pact with. Aquilus has a monotone feminine voice. She is very quiet, antisocial, and apathetic. She rarely ever speaks unless spoken to and most of the time cannot be bothered to participate in a conversation or activity. She will always follow orders to the letter, but never improvises. If she cannot carry out an order directly, she will simply return to Cordelia and report that the objective was impossible to attain. This means a very simple objective can easily be obstructed by a simple item easily taken care of by most. An example would be ordering Aquilus to enter a house, but she finds she is unable to do so because the door is closed (even if it is not locked) and there is no open window. Cordelia finds it is very difficult getting results from Aquilus, but at the same time she can provide the best results when directed in the correct manner. Aquilus will never commit an action other than floating around by Cordelia's side unless ordered to, even if it means the death of herself, another person, another spirit, or even Cordelia. Aquilus is, overall, the weakest spirit in straight-up combat but is the most effective at stealth and information gathering in most cases.
In her spirit form, she is a small pulsating orb of water. She can slightly alter the humidity of a small area around her on the material plane in this form, but never does so unless ordered.
In her material form, she can be anything from a small floating orb to a large mass of water. In larger sizes, she usually takes on a humanoid-esque appearance. She is the second largest of the spirits behind Terrus. Because she is made entirely of water, she is very easily able to blend in with other water sources (lakes, rivers, pools, puddles, oceans, etc) and can defeat enemies by drowning them in her body or body slamming them with significant force. She can also launch projectiles made of water, although these are not the most effective weapons they can knock an enemy off their feet. Since she is made of water, mundane physical attacks have no effect on her.
Aquilus cannot merge with Cordelia per their pact agreement. She is the only spirit unable to do this.

SPIRIT PACTS & MECHANICS
—-
When Cordelia forged a pact with each spirit, they made an oath to always obey her commands. In return, however, she must promise them one thing. If at any point this promise is broken, the pact may willingly be ended by not only the spirit affected but all other spirits under Cordelia's control as well. The spirits literally cannot disobey Cordelia unless she breaks the pact or the command violates a pact agreement. Below is the agreement she made with each spirit:
SYLPHUS - Cordelia cannot directly order Sylphus to kill another living entity, including plants, insects, animals, etc.
TERRUS - Terrus demands that Cordelia plants the seed of at least one tree every day. This condition is satisfied even if she asks Terrus or another spirit to do so (she usually will). Terrus has the ability to start the life cycle of most plants, including trees, without any sort of seed and can usually be ordered to fill this condition without difficulty.
INFERNUS - When Cordelia dies, Infernus gets the privilege to consume any and all remains.
AQUILUS - Cordelia cannot merge with Aquilus.
Cordelia controls the form and power of the spirits by her will. The stronger she allows a spirit to be, the more of her own energy she uses. This means that while it is possible for her to command four giant elementals at once, this is extremely taxing on her and is only even possible due to her extensive training and experience.
When a spirit is killed, it regenerates within a few days' time, depending on how much power Cordelia was granting it at the time. During this period, Cordelia is constantly exhausted. The effect is worse if more than one spirit is dead. She can still give power to her other spirits, but the effect is reduced due to her tiredness.
If Cordelia dies for any reason, all pacts immediately end and the spirits gain free will. They are not obligated to fulfill any command Cordelia may have given to them before she died, although they may choose to do so of their own will.
While all four spirits are alive, Cordelia is immortal. She does not age, she does not become sick, and she is immune to the effects of mundane poisons and diseases (poisons and diseases magical in origin still have an effect). This immortality is suppressed when one of her spirits dies and does not return until each spirit is alive again. During a state of suppressed immortality, any effects of aging are retained even when the immortality returns.
The spirits are used to seek out those with supernatural abilities and they invite them back to the island. They have the ability to sense those with powers from any given distance.
Perception
Cordelia has a very precise ability to sense the presence of others. She can also discern what somebodies powers and species are just by being in the same room as them. Her spirits have this ability as well.
Biography:
Cordelia Moor was raised an orphan. Her parents were a mystery for a large portion of her life, and to this day they were a mysterious duo. Abandoned as an infant, Cordelia was brought in to an orphanage with no hope of ever being adopted. She was raised on the Caribbean Islands, always having a fondness for the ocean and finding a peace inside of herself despite the chaos in her life.
Despite her poor upbringing, Cordelia sought out her education with a fervent passion. Her desire to learn as much as she could and become as intelligent as the more fortunate people in the world was her every day drive, and she pushed herself beyond the limit. As a young girl, her dream was to graduate from college and become a teacher. She studied more than she played, and in the end it paid off.
Yet in spite everything, Cordelia found herself feeling isolated from those around her. She never seemed to fit in, always having an eerie calm about herself that unsettled those around her. Her maturity from childhood was one that was remarkable, and she was often commended by those around her despite them also being afraid.
Once Cordelia turned eleven, she realized why she was so strange.
On a cold and windy day, Cordelia summoned the first spirit of many. In her grief and outcry of confusion, her words touched the spirits and it was revealed that she was a gifted Summoner. She was bestowed Sylphus, who then became her loyal spirit.
Recognizing the ability she had, Cordelia began to wonder if there were others in the world that were like her. Unique and gifted. Often she would meditate, seeking out the answer as to what she should do with this gift.
When she turned thirteen, Cordelia received a letter in the mail.
It was from distant relatives. Without her ever knowing, her mother and father had passed away when a cruiser boat was lost at sea. Their legacy had left her a fortune, and Cordelia was immediately drowning in wealth.
And that's when it all began.
Immediately she put a large portion of the money into savings, multiplying the portions as much as possible within the next several years. Using the remaining amounts of money, she began to seek out others who were gifted. Others who were like her.
And she proposed to them an idea.
An education system for those who were gifted. A safe haven for the unwanted. A hidden paradise.
As she continued the adventure of seeking out those who were willing to help with the school, she gathered three other spirit manifestations, making four in total. Once she had the four, she was granted immortality that was last as long as the four were accompanying her. Slowly over time she aged, bit by bit.
By the late 1800s, her dream came true. After years and years of hard work, research, funding and private donations, she opened up Starlight Academy and became Headmistress Moor.
