Having An Earful

Ria dragged Jii by her ear, gently but surely, further away from the community center. She had just known, KNOWN, that Jii would get into trouble. And hadn't she guessed right. Ria was a little grateful, just a little, to this Eleanor person for being worried enough to voice her concerns. Otherwise Jii would've hid it from Ria, that little troublemaker.
Ria glanced at that troublemaker and knew she could feel Ria's worry and irritation and disappointment, all in a same jumble. Normally at this point Ria would've toned it down so Jii could be more at peace. But Jii needed to feel it, to know Ria was worried sick about her. Even more now that she, they, were in a whole new place.
Ria found a place with privacy so people wouldn't be bothered if she raised her voice a bit. Or if the earth rumbled and sky turned red.
Ria let go of Jii's ear but gave it a tug before she did. To make it clear she would grab it all over again if Jii dared to even try to escape. Ria wasn't as fast but her reflexes didn't lose to Jii's.
"Now that we have privacy I want to tell you Jii, that I'm happy that you have friends. Friends are good, even if I may tell you otherwise in the future."
A little affection before the real deal. It cushioned the blow.
"And now, could you tell me what your friend Eleanor meant when she said you have not been fine? Hmmm?"
Ria busted out her empathy, and she guessed that Jii guessed Ria would be feeling everything she would be feeling from now on. No lies or pretention.

Ria listened to Jii's words and felt her feelings and felt a bit sad and confused Jii wouldn't tell her the whole truth. Since Ria indeed could feel, guessed, that this wasn't all. She wasn't one to back up when she wanted to know something so she frowned a bit, readying for a battle.
"That's why I told you to study beforehand, you silly girl. But you were so gun-ho to leave right away."
Ria shook her head slowly, and she was using her lecturing tone. But when Ria spoke next time her tone was softer. Still hard, but softer.
"But I know that she wasn't talking about just that. You know I'm keen about these things, especially when it comes to my baby sisters. So spill it Jii. I'm sure you will feel better afterwards, and I will not get mad. Well, I'll try not to."
Ria smiled a bit, in her own cocky, confident way, and tilted her head at Jii.
"You know I won't give up until you tell me."

The second Jii said the word "party" Ria tensed up all over and her anger and disappointment increased. But she was able to rein them back so Jii wouldn't stop talking. Ria had done some research about the recent popular culture and she knew what kind of places these parties could be, full of drunks and depravity. And she guessed right when Jii mentioned alcohol and it took all Ria's willpower to keep herself from shaking Jii and asking "What happened to you?!".
Jii finished and it was so painfully obvious she was still hidung something Ria almost wanted to leave it at that. But she was not one to let her little sister bottle up her worries and doubts. So Ria took a step closer and firmly stared at Jii, tapping her foot. Ria's arms were crossed and her mind was full of determination.
"I can easily forgive you for trying alcohol, and even getting drunk, despite being underage. Now tell me the rest. I know there is more."

Ria felt Jii break through her empathy and that it turn sent a painful jab through her gut and heart. She watched, little stunned, how Jii curled up onto the sidewalk and made her confession. Normally she would've been absolutely furious. Someone had violated her little sister, made her cry, made her break down. She wouldn't have been furious at Jii, but at the one responsible. But she knew her fury would hurt Jii. So instead Ria let her worry, regret and love float up to the surface as she picked Jii up with ease and carried her to the grass, on a more private spot. There she sat down and set Jii down too, stroking her ears and hair. Like she always did when they were kids.
"It's okay. I'm sure you can feel I am furious. But it's not at you, don't worry. I forgive you. I forgive you, Jii. You could never be dirty, ever. I'm so sorry it happened to you Jii, but it does not make you any less worthy of anything. Listen and believe in me when I say no power in the world could make me love you any less."
Ria rarely spoke these kinds of words but right now she knew Jii needed to hear them. Words, and feelings, of affection. And under that immense quantity of love she let Jii feel was a tight ball of wrath Ria wanted to unleash upon the one who had touched her little sister.
