Versailles sipped at a glass of wine as she looked over one of her textbooks. She was sitting at the bar in one of her typical outfits - a thin white cotton sweater, short skirt and delicate scarf. She was tired if studying at home and in the library, and needed a drink. Studying at the bar seemed like a fair medium between the two.

The fox-girl was absently ignoring most of the other clients, but occasionally chatted with the bartender between chapters of her book. It was just an average night, didn't seem to be anyone new at this hour. Parties hadn't started yet so it was mostly locals with nothing to do. A calming atmosphere, which allowed Versailles to let her guard down and braid her hair back.

After having already been lurking for a few hours, simply in a more crowded area of the bar, it was safe to say that Calan was buzzed. However, buzzed was all that he was. It took one serious night of drinking for Calan to get honestly drunk, and he'd been going pretty light.

Despite the fact that he'd been around alcohol and smoke, Calan still smelled like nice cologn and body wash, a trick he had mastered after year of fame - how he stayed decent was a mystery, but the fact was, he always did. As usual, Calan's dark red hair was styled well enough, and his clothing was just another set from his style. It involved deep red-maroon skinny jeans; a white dress shirt; a loose, black sleeveless vest and white converse. Belts and chains added bling to his bottoms, and a simple silver chain hung around his neck. His piercings in his ears, lip and tongue were all normal. Honestly, this sort of style might have seemed edgy or immature on others, but on Calan... For some reason, he just made it work.

With the slight alcohol in his system, Calan was feeling pretty good. He was happy enough not to worry about this sort of close proximity with so many people, and the buzz helped dull the sound of blood rushing as well. Only aiding this was the fact that Calan had eaten earlier that day, and so he was quite lively and virtually nothing of a danger. These things in mind, along with the fact that he hadn't had a good party in a while, Calan was definitely searching for a good time.

As he scanned over the crowed, Calan thought he might have found it. The girl sitting alone was quite attractive, he could tell at first glance, and with a second, he noted her uniqueness. The woman had fox ears and a long tail, and though these we'ren't a particular turn on for Calan - he wasn't a furry - they were still quite interesting and... well, honestly, adorable.

Of course he'd be walking up to her. Who wouldn't?

As smoothely as a trained professional, Calan sat in the seat next to the girl. "Hey there," he began, his voice soft and pleasing, "I hate to see you drinking here alone on a night like this. My name's Calan Marshall... Can I get yours?"

Versailles glanced up from her book when someone sat beside her. He was rather cute, but seemed to be already tipsy. Probably a bad idea. Even sober, he was probably a bad idea. Thing was, she was awfully good at going through with bad ideas lately. She turned to face him.

"Allow me to guess, you're here to talk me up, get my number? Or are you hoping to move that stool a little closer?"

Versailles spoke with a distinguishably bored tone, closing the book infront of her before leaning against the bar. She could use a decent bad idea right now.

Calan wasn't tipsy as much as he was relaxed. It was more of a general freeness throughout his being, rather than stumbling, obviously-drunken persona. Frankly, Calan was actually being quite smoothe.

The man's eyes sparkled with her response. She had spirit. He liked it. Most of the girls he walked over to fawned in one way or another, whether it be because they knew his name, or becase they were just that easy to impress. One might say that Calan actually had pretty bad choices, when it came to the bar setting... However, it seemed as though this time might have turned out to be an exception.

Calan leaned against the bar as well, his cerulean eyes piercing Versailles'. "Actually, I was just hoping to get your name," he said, and his smile lit his face.

Versailles's lips twitched upwards into a subtle smile. Smooth. Very smooth. Well, she may as well reward him for his talents.

"Versailles Amaranth. Yes like the palace. No, I have no connection to it but French is my second language."

Versailles waved a finger at him in a joking manner.

"Don't try to impress me by speaking foreign languages. I'm not that easily impressed."

The fox-girl sipped her drink, eyeing Calan curiously. Was it perhaps worth the bad idea? He was cute, but then agian, Toby had been too.

Calan laughed lightly at Versailles' response, his eyes sparkling. Yep, this was a good choice. He liked her. She had witty comments and a nice attitude. Fiery. One would think Calan would stay away from fire, it being one of his only weaknesses, but honestly? Honestly, he was never known for his good decisions. Cal liked to play with fire. He liked it a lot.

"Wasn't going to try to!" Calan said, amusement coloring his smile. "Unimpressive as it may be, I'm only fluent in one language." Well. He'd touched a bit on a few, but it was nothing fluent. No where near.

"So, Versailles, huh? It's really pretty. I like it." Calan's smile was gorgeous and blinding, even if it was still modest. What could he say? He was a superstar. "I'm Calan Marshall. Yes, like the famous singer. No, not like the cartoon network vampire, but only cause I'm cooler than he is."

Versailles giggled a little. He was trying very hard to be impressively charming. It was working rather well.

"Sorry. Don't know who either of those are. You're just the ordinary person Calan Marshall. Dropping names doesn't work on me, hun."

Versailles gave him a wink and slipped off of her chair, testing how much interest he had. She bent over a little more than necessary to look over the songs on the jukebox - a real, functioning jukebox. It was why she was fond of this place. Her tail swayed to the beat of the song she'd selected and she danced even though it wasn't that kind of bar, giving Calan a come hither look.
