Happy Day (Open)

Sarah was relaxing. The first few days were confusing and lonely. It would be like that for anyone. All she did was observe outside of class. See who might be her friend and who doesn't have anything in common with her. Her observation skills always freaked her old friends out. It was a good skill to have she told them. She opened her eyes. Maybe her icy demeanor freaked people out like anywhere else. She thought being cold saves people from being betrayed by two face friends.

She glanced around. Not many people she noticed. None paying attention to her. Nothing new there. She sighed. She would do anything for one friend. She crossed her legs Indian style. She played with her hair idly. How could she make a friend? She's no one to approach a kid. Maybe wait for someone to come to her. Yes that would be best. Her icy blue eyes usually freak people out. She decided sitting here and waiting would be the best option.

Walking through the courtyard, Axle looked at a piece of paper in his hand. On it was a rough map and directions for him on how to get to the admissions office. How It was easy enough. Save the fact the words were written in French! He didn't even speak that! Plus the map was from a first-person perspective. If he had gotten lost, he would be so screwed! And that he was. Very very lost. His first day on the campus and he wasn't able to tell where the dorms where. Where the offices were.

As he looked around the courtyard, his lips stayed stamped with a subtle smirk. Walking with a single satchel sitting on his backside, Axle thought he should give it a shot and not stop till nightfall to find the offices. Though he thought that on this occasion he would ask for directions. Could he just asked for some directions? The likelihood was there. But the moment he got close to a cluster of people they began moving away. He thought it might have been that old fashion stranger danger. Well it was there loss he thought.

That was until he spotted a girl sitting by herself. Seeing her all alone, Axle pictured as the underdog-girl of an older generation movie. Perfect for him to ask for directions. And so Axle walked towards the girl with a smile on his face and hand in his pocket. "Hey!" Were the first words that came from his smiling lips.

Sarah was enjoying watching everyone. She had a habit of being able to tell a what person was like watching them. She wasn't right every time through. Most times she was through. She watched friends laugh and talk and she found herself jealous. She knew that as the days went on she would make friends but she was still jealous. She started playing with her hair. She was brought into memories of her old friends and the trouble they got into.

She almost laughed at the memories. She had a smile through. She idly wondered what they were up too right now. Probably trespassing somewhere. She still remember going into an old farm. She heard someone say hey. She looked over to see a boy of about her age. She smiled widely. "Hey. What are you up too" she said, stretching back.

This girl seemed very relaxed and was kind of approachable. Axle liked that and smiled while showing off the note he had. "Well I would be going to the admissions office by now. However someone decided to hand me the directions in French and I came onto the campus a little confused. So if you could help. That would be great." Though his actions soon countered his words as he crouched down to the ground in front of her and sat across from her.

"However I'd rather be chilling out right now." Placing down his satchel, the blue-eyed boy placed his hand out towards the girl with a smile with it. "I'm Axle. Just got in from the states. Hope to make your acquaintance." Growing his list of friends was Axle's top priority. There was a chance that he was not going to get everyone to like him. His personality was said to be too forward for most. However he felt like this girl could do nicely.

Sarah smiled. It was the first time since she came here that she smiled. It was a nice joke. Putting the directions in French especially if the person couldn't read it was something she and her friends would do. However she couldn't bring herself to make fun of him being new herself. She doubted she could help him but at least she could try to make a friend right?

"I'm sorry but I'm new as well and can't remember where anything was. I have a horrible memory" said Sarah. That was true. She couldn't remember anything for the life of her. "I'm Sarah. Hope to make your acquaintance as well" she added.

"Sarah huh? Nice name you got there. I knew a Sarah back when I was young. But she was nowhere your lovely stature." The newer boy gave her a smile before leaning back on the grass. He placed his hand over his mouth before allowing a yawn to escape his throat. "Sorry, I am still a little tired from my trip. Gotta sleep soon or something. Maybe just eat, ya know?"

Putting the note away and into his satchel, Axle guessed that he was going to have to wait until later to find the offices. Until that time came, he was going to have to entertain himself with Sarah's presence. To which he had no issues with. After all, making new friends was a goal.

At the same time as he put the note away, he pulled out a pack of gum and took two sticks from it. He tossed one her way before placing the second in his mouth. "So Sarah. I am guess you too can do some magic or something?"

Sarah couldn't be smile. Axle reminded her of the boys at her old high school only quite nicer. She could help but remember things the boys at her old high school did to get attention from girls. That was one thing she didn't mind leaving behind. "Thanks. I don't mind my name to much. I was named after my mom's mother" she said, remembering her mom. She missed her parents so bad.

She looked at the sky. "I'm can control fire. Pretty cool but I have to watch my temper. I always am always cold in winter" she explained. She enjoyed her power very much but the downsides she hated. She was always bundling up in winter. "What's your power if I can ask" she asked, curious.

So she was named after her grandmother huh? Well that was a nice token to have. Axle was very unsure of how he got his own name. Coming from a small town in the middle of nowhere, Axle didn't understand where his parents had gotten the name from. It was really beyond him. However he did not question it. In truth he was thankful he wasn't named something like Daniel, Peter, or John. So bland names.

"Fire? That is awesome. That right there is a main character's power. That is if you watch action shows or that stuff. An awesome power none the less." With a smirk, Axle stood up to stretch before placing his hand out. "As for me, I can project waves of energy. Though it doesn't do much unless I am fighting against a demon or ghost. Or some other specter." From there he chuckled at himself.

Sarah smiled. Everyone she talked to loved her power. She will admit that she's fond of her power. She sometimes wished it was mental like telepathy. If only so she didn't have to wear two sweatshirts in the winter. Otherwise she loves her power. When she thinks of her power she thinks of life and power. Fire gives people light or heat. At the same time the flames remind her of flames of power.

"I suppose you can look it at that way. I think of it as life helping since it gives us heat and light. I also think of it as flames of power. Your power seems pretty cool. How does it work? Does the energy come out of your body or can you push it our of your palms" she said, curious.
