“Come oooon, we should do something for your birthday!”
Adelyn bounded around Storm as she followed her comapnion into the gym. It was Halloween evening, and the school campus was quiet as students and teachers alike started scrabbling to get into their costumes in preparation for the night. But not Storm. Holiday or not, Storm did not break her exercise routine for any occasion.
Technically, it was two holidays for her: Halloween and her birthday. Neither of which she had much intention of celebrating, much to the chagrin of Adelyn.
“Really, Adelyn,” Storm started as she sat at one of the many exercise machines and began doing leg curls. “You should go have fun with your new friends. I just want to stay in tonight after I’m done here.”
Adelyn pouted, while Storm reached over and took her hand.
“I’m fine, Adelyn,” Storm said, smiling at the younger werewolf. “I just want a quiet night. That’s all.”
Obviously not entirely convinced, Adelyn bit at her lip. “Alright…I-I guess I’ll go out with my idol club friends tonight.” Then she got a stern look on her face. “But we are doing to do something birthday-ish for you on the weekend, okay? Doesn’t have to be a big party like Addy’s!”
“Please, no,” Storm murmured with a shutter. Adelyn was really into the whole ‘birthday’ thing after attending Addy’s party, but to Storm it just sounded too over the top to be enjoyable…
“Let’s just go out to eat somewhere, okay?” Storm said, to which Adelyn gave an enthusiastic nod. That was a relief. Storm just couldn’t stand the thought of a party, full of people fawning over her just because…she was born. The entire concept of celebrating birthdays was still a bit foreign to her. She only used the particular date to know her age, not to celebrate.
Speaking of which…she was turning thirty today. When she was younger, she didn’t think she would live this long. As she got older, she hoped to grow old with the one she loved…but…
Storm shook off her train of thought and started pumping more aggressively into her leg curls. No, there was no point in thinking about it that way. It was what it was, and Storm was moving on with her life…
