Name:Hanoko
Age: somewhere north of 10, apparent age, 16
Birthday: none.
Gender: male
Species: Kodama
Category: Student
Class: High School
Grade: 10
College Major: (if applicable)
Appearance Description: Hanoko looks as much like a tree as he does a human. His skin is tanned and looks rough, like tree bark, but feels as soft as a normal human. His hair reflects the leaves of his tree, falling down to his shoulders in a mess of green, occasionally growing a leaf from a strand of hair. He stands at about 6 feet tall, but the mild bookish look he used to have was replaced by an abundance of life. No longer trying to impress his lost love, Hanoko's face has become more androgynous, neither man nor woman to replicate more truly the nature of his tree. He has little defined muscle, however he has no muscle or flesh to explain this.
Instead, Hanoko's body is made of plant fibers. where one might assume there were bones, instead he has wood fibers twisted in a spiral to create a shape very similar. unlike human bones which have a hollow inside to allow for the creation of marrow, the bones are solid material, and less likely to break. the rest of him is made of softer wood fibre, riddled through with Xylem acting as both a nervous system and the circulatory system, although he still possesses a respiration system since his hair does not photosynthesize enough to create a constant supply of energy on its own. Hanoko is rather near-sighted and requires glasses to see, but rarely wears them.
Personality Description: Hanoko is naturally, very quiet, the idea of using air to talk still a rather odd feeling. He is patient and calm, with an aura of life and vitality. He has confidence to spare, but has grown up enough in the past year to know that he doesn't need to prove himself to anyone. He regrets not trying harder in the past to focus on the human element of things, and is content with observing as much as he can, learning as much as possible. Hanoko is attentive, and an avid listener, quick to learn but not as fast at putting it in practice.
Powers: N/A
Species Abilities: As a demon born from a tree, Hanoko can fuse himself with the tree he was born in and any tree of the same type provided that it is not also inhabited. From within the tree he can sense anything his roots or leaves touch, or cast off any physical form to travel as a glowing blue light. Sounds around him seem to have a faint echo, not quite loud enough to properly here as if the winds around him were whispering.
Biography: Hanoko was born from an oak tree. Born being used in the vaguest sense of the word, as Hanoko simply started existing, developing a conscience in the sapling. The majority of his life was insignificant, spent either as a ball of light or in the tree. That is, until Addy happened.
The girl had chosen his tree, out of all of the trees in the forest, to write her diary in. He listened to her ranting about bad things that happened in her day, crying, trying to figure out the complex knot that was her life. And slowly, he fell in love.
It started with a smile. Just that small smile that was 100% Addy. Those little smiles became all Hanoko wanted, so he grew a human form out of the tree to be able to be closer to her.
After a time of walking about the human world, after having been very close to the girl he had fallen in love with, Hanoko was left behind while Addy moved on with her life. Grieving, Hanoko returned to his tree and began withering, wasting away. This did not go unnoticed by the Kodama around him, and they gave him support. The older trees encouraged him to live, to continue learning as he had been. Kodama did not often leave the forest, but Hanoko had, and lived, so he could speak out on their behalf upon matters of the forest.
