Tomo took her first step in and then straight out of the portal, feeling the vaguely familiar feeling of warping across a great distance. She'd never get used to it, for sure. A shiver went through Tomo's body and she shook her head and shoulders, much like an animal would.
A lot of Tomo's stuff had already been transported back here so now Tomo only had her backpack, filled to the brim, and of course she had her violin case. Tomo would only let it be transported separately over her dead body.
Tomo had mixed feelings as she walked further into the portal station and towards the main lobby. This was all just so weird, being back here. Tomo hadn't exactly pushed down her memories of the island when away but she hadn't reminded herself about them either. The memories contained lots of good and lots of bad and although Tomo had only been away for about 8 months it felt like a lifetime. That was how much she had changed.
Tomo hadn't told her siblings abouy her different look, or about her new abilities. Tomo had stayed in contact but it had usually been the "hey what's up I'm good and you" kind of vague stuff that Tomo shared about herself. She hadn't mentioned that she actually had piercings and wore even a bit of makeup now. Even Tomo was still getting used to it...
"Shit, this is weird."
Tomo muttered to herself and fidgeted with her hearing aids, as she approached the place where her siblings were supposed to be waing for her. She wasn't supposed to be nervous, it was just Tada and Shiro. Tada and Shiro who'd see Tomo for the first time in over half a year, wearing flannel and ripped jeans instead of a t-shirt and yoga pants. Tomo wondered if they had changed at all. Tomo had heard lots from Shiro, about Tadashi and his personal drama and of course gossip. Lord, Tomo had missed Shiro's voice, just blabbing on about whatever and Tomo never really cared since she was just happy to hear her sister sound happy. And Tomo had missed Tada's calm energy and watching him draw and his occasional teasing remarks.
Tomo was nervous, but she was also excited. She couldn't wait to see her siblings again.
