graveyard finds

Hal was really excited. In all his years in the island, he never really had a lot of people joining him into his investigations. A few instances he would run into other people in the middle of his adventure and they would join forces along the way but he'd rarely have one planned ahead of time. It had been a while since the last. "We could probably go one time when I get to scout for a new area. If you have places in mid, we could put on a list for future reference. Oh, we should probably swap numbers just in case; do you have your phone?"

Blue eyes seemed to followed the shadow entity for a few seconds, just observing its behavior in awe. He wouldn't say he'd never seen anything like it, but everyone had different powers from others that every person he met had uniqueness in them. "So that... entity... It's not doing anything bad to you, is it? Last thing I read about people that had... shadowy things going on that was acquired, I think it was eating his soul or something." Was it something he read, or was it a person he actually bumped into? Regardless, after moments of silent thought, he blurted out: "...Is it sentient?"

Hal jotted down the number into his own phone immediately, shooting a quick text message to James' phone to so neither of them would have to punch it in to the other phone. "Saved and sent," he chirped, putting the phone away from view. It was very difficult to miss the glee in his eyes as she continued, "It'd be nice if we could all meet up one time before we go wandering dark places," he added.

Turning his attention back to the entity in question, he seemed to be less fearful about it, taking to James' word for it. Nonetheless, he seemed just as curious. He wasn't a very "talented" individual: he could get away with shenanigans with his astral body and lately, he's been learning more about his other power since the March madness but powers outside of general psychokinesis were such curiosities to him.

"You powers sound pretty practical," he mused aloud. He wouldn't consider his very practical; if anything it had been really annoying since it had shown itself. "I'd probably get away from a lot of mess if I could just teleport my way out of it." It was, in part, a joke, but he wanted to imagine all the mess he'd been in and the advantages if he had a more useful power on him. "So do you get to use them like extra limbs? And does that... shadow just let you use their abilities or do you have to tell them what to do?"

"That must be so strange," Hal spoke, voicing out his thoughts before he could stop himself. "Er, I meant hearing someone else's voice in your head and all. Must be weird hearing anything else other than your inside voice every now and again. I'd freak out." A nervous laugh went past Hal's mouth, mostly sound like consecutive sighs instead of an actual laugh. "Good to know you're in good terms at least."

On another note, for a moment Hal thought it had been the same thermos from earlier but something about it felt different. It was hard to tell with all the darkness around them, and he didn't see the contents of James' bag but something was telling him it wasn't the same one. Not being able to help himself, he asked, pointing to the thermos, "Did you have more than one of that?"
