"Nope, not even remotely. Had a bit of work done to look handsome like a human. My actual self is..." his voice trailed off as he thought about how he should frame his self description. "Doesn't matter, we should get going though. We can talk on the way."

Nero turned and gestured for the two of them to follow after him. This was a nice meet and greet, but they had a human do deliver. Also being in a facility affiliated with people who couldn't tell a sapient from a non-sapient being wasn't exactly comforting to him.

Describing himself probably wouldn't have helped much. Hugh didn't know the names for most things, even if he was vaguely familiar with them. It took him a moment just to realize that he was supposed to follow, trailing behind Nero as he walked.

It was hard not to gawk. He had never--or at least could barely remember--being outside his environment. The facility was alien to him, and he very nearly wandered off a few times.

"...How are we going to-" He paused, thinking about what Xeros had called it earlier. "To earth?" That sounded right. More right than Cremalia, in any case.

"I'm half human," the grumpy man didn't show it, but he was excited to visit Earth, to see what kind of things humans did on their home world.

"We got a ship, you'll get to see it soon enough," his tail would adjust itself around his waist. "Hope you're ready to see some interesting things," he'd stay with a snort, "hope you're ready for an adventure."

He was curious about how their guest was going to react to the other crew members, especially to their friendly party A.I.

"We're just dumping you off in your homeworld in the boonies. Decent length trip but it won't be too exciting. Unless you're expecting someone to be desperate enough to attack us," Nero said it in a very matter of fact way. Considering he was a pirate, he knew the general ins and outs. Made a point of modding Cambrissa up in such a way that it would be unlikely anyone would try to attack her.

"I think you'll catch on quickly enough. They say humans are pretty damn adaptable. That said I hope you understand you're expected to pull your weight on the way there. I'm assuming you can at least read and write?"

Boy, was it a lot. The idea of going home. The idea of someone attacking them. Of being... of being dumped.

"Could--Would Kansas be okay?" He didn't know what Kansas was, but he thought he was from there. People were sometimes from places in the books he read, after all.

But when the captain asked about reading and writing, Hugh hesitated.

"I can read," he admitted, "but probably not very well. I've never written before." In theory it was like reading in reverse, right?

"Do you know where Kansas is on the planet?" he'd ask with a snort. "From what I've heard it hasn't had a lot of contact from other worlds," he remembered his mother telling him about Earth, about the humans who lived there.

He'd glance at Hugh, a brief of flash of sympathy appearing in his eyes. "Well....you'll get plenty of practice during the trip," he made a mental note to give him a few digital books to look at.
