Nothing was going as expected. Riley had contacted Smokey about taking his wish that he won from March's trophy hunt. Initially, Smokey was hesitant. He won the trophy hunt. He deserved the wish. But Riley genuinely wanted them to have it. It was no joke. They were going to get a wish from the Twelve.

So when they arrived at the designated area with Riley, Smokey finally registered that this was happening. Everything they had prepared for was really going to happen.

This was... a very unique birthday gift.

So why did he choose Smokey? Well there wasn't really a specific reason. Riley was a person with a very small social life and a few friends. Like...at least he was sure he could count two people as friends, maybe three? Anyway, Riley chose Smokey since...he haven't really done much for them especially after Smokey helped him with a few things after he had to move.

So here he was with Smokey, waiting for March of The Twelve.

They didn't get march. Instead, they got a squirrel. Not even a full sized squirrel. Just a normal sized squirrel who trotted out of the trees, parked itself down in front of them, and stared up at them. It was almost a full minute later that September of the Twelve--donning a top hat--strode out of the woods in all his giant squirrelyness.

"Oh, brought a guest, did you Riley-the-boy?"

It was probably good to specify. This was the boy Riley winner, not the girl one.

Smokey was, to put it lightly, disappointed. The moment they saw a squirrel approach them they knew March was probably not going to appear. But that was okay! Smokey liked September too. It was only that they would have liked to meet all of the Twelve. Oh well, their time would come sooner or later for sure.

"Hi September! I'm Riley-the-boy's friend. We came here about the wish thing?" They looked at Riley, preferring him to explain. It seemed sketchy for Smokey to be the one to say, Give me the wish Riley won.

"Riley-the-boy..." This name thing is just getting more and more dumb with time. Riley wasn't going to protest to this.
"Hey Mr. September...This is Smokey." He gestured to them.

"And yeah, the wish. I'm giving them my wish that I somehow won." Riley still was kinda meh about the prize. He rather had gotten like..some badge. The twelve should have badges like gym leaders from pokemon.

September was of the opinion that Riley-The-Boy was a perfectly fine name, and only about as stupid as most human names. Human names--and non-human names, if he was going to be technical--tended to be dumb. If anything, he was actually rather fond of Smokey, because it clearly indicated which one they were. Smokey was the one who looked like a fire had burnt down to coals and then got up and walked away.

"Cooooooool," September said, drawing it out unnecessarily. "Did March say you could do that? You know what, never mind, I said my batch could, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. What's your wish, kiddo?"

Was Smokey a kid? Well, everyone was a kid to him more or less, so he decided it didn't matter.

Smokey's smile wavered for just a second when September seemed unsure if this was allowed. How did these wishes work again?

"If March isn't okay with this, will the wish be undone?" No point in getting invested in a wish that would be taken away. "But for my wish, I'd like a perfect semantic and procedural memory."

It sounded weirdly specific. And it was! Smokey thought about this deeply. How could they one-up Angelo's memory? Take out the emotions that would be linked to every memory, of course.

"It just won't be done in the first place," September said with a nod of his head. "Since unless you want a squirrel, any wish has to go through the group anyway."

It wasn't like he was all powerful or anything.

He paused to consider the wish, and then nodded.

"That'd probably be April's territory. I'll talk to them and see what they can do, but it's not like it's something you're going to obviously notice. Expect it... whenever. Anything else?"

"Perfect!" Smokey responded. Things weren't going to be as complicated as they worried. "Oooother than that... Nope! Don't think there's anything else. I just want to say I very much appreciate you and the other gods for granting my wish!"

So he guess the wish was going to be granted. That was way more simple than he thought. "So I guess we can leave now?" Riley glanced at Smokey.

He wasn't going to question their wish, naaaah. It is what it is.
