A quiet night in an auditorium. Aurora sat at a piano plucking at keys, a laptop close at hand. As usual, the room was very dim, the seats barely visible from the stage. You would think that the place would be an excellent place to practice whatever music one was working on, but the fact was, that was farther than the truth right now. Some student had probably moved the side curtains of the auditorium and misaligned the glass ceiling that reflected sound.

The result was a muddied sound that came from the piano. Sure, the instrument itself was fine, but the room did much to amplify the beauty of the machine, or tear down its sound note by note. It was a harsh sound, and one that Aurora had been trying for an hour or more to rectify. She was getting close, but something still did not sit right with her. Yet, each time the robed mage played, the piece was getting longer and longer, signifying that at least something over the afternoon was going right, even if the sound wasn't.

She sighed once, stopping once again, pressing a few buttons on the glowing keyboard of the computer, and watching as glass panels above moved about to recreate the sound she had heard when first taking the job. It wasn't coming easily.

"How small a part of time they share!"

She sang into the rafters, nodding slightly as the voice reverberated to the back of the room, where those listening, if there were any, could hear.

"Huh."

Aurora pinched the bridge of her nose and mashed a finger straight into an F-sharp. Strangely, it actually sounded reasonably well.

Approaching what seemed to be an array of unpleasant and random noises, Sender was beginning to rethink her walk. She was tempted to flee the sound, retreating back to her apartment to call it a night --but it was the voice, sudden yet alluring that called her back.

Whoever they were, they must have been testing the room. Echos bounced from the walls to ring into her ears. No one blamed anyone for doing their best to sweeten a sound, but who couldn't grow irritable towards the man who yelled 'testing' over and over into a microphone in anticipation of concert? Not her, certainly, but she would do her best to tolerate it. In hopes she awaited more notes from the stranger's mouth than her piano. Even the tapping keys of her computer were a more welcoming hear.
What compelled her to moved to the woman's side was a mystery, but in ways she seemed familiar. A teacher most likely --who else would be fiddling about like this? Perhaps she had passed her in the halls or, had a glance of her outside of school. Who could know for sure?

"I take it you're... Ms. Silivasi. Or was it Mrs.?"
She had read the name upon a paper --papers of which held information of her upcoming courses. She was to be a student of this person no longer than within the next week. Why she opted for music this time around was equally a mystery, but it was something she hadn't yet bothered to try, thus, curiosity got the best of her.

Aurora tapped the F# several more times, distinctly aware that something strange was going on. Not with the music, but with the timeline. She got the feeling from time to time, pun not intended, but in this case, the connection was quite strong, like two events were about to merge together of the sorts. She scratched the back of her own head, trying to shake the thought out, but it would not go away, and she continued to plug away at keys until a voice spoke up. That voice.

The voice...

Thirteen was quick to turn around, almost as if she had been spooked by a ghost. Rarely was she surprised by anything...but seeing her here was something straight out of a dream. Quite literally in fact.

"I...yes, you don't..? Oh never mind. Yes, I'm Ms. Silivasi, although Aurora if you will, please, sit down."

The response was not like her usual calculated ones. It was rather shaky actually, something completely unprepared. And for once, the mage was completely off guard. The lady in front of her looked all the same as what she had seen, had the same voice, the same complexity and personality.

Should she mention it? Or just leave it be? The question was far harder at this point than it should have been, and still she didn't know how to answer except simply:

"Is there something I can do for you?"

Honestly, it was the other way around. She had seen certain people in other timelines before, but nobody that was this close to her. Nobody that had really seen her before and now...this. There was hardly any way to explain it.

"...Rather, you don't recognize me, Sender?"

Oh boy, now she'd done it.

"Yes, I'm Ms. Silivasi, although Aurora if you will, please, sit down."

"Aurora..." the name lingered on her tongue. I suppose there was no harm in staying awhile. It would be well to get to know her better, considering they would be together quite a bit in the future. Idly her fingers met the piano keys, tracing over them but not quite daring to press down as she took her seat.

"Is there something I can do for you?"

What a question. What had she been looking for? As far as she could remember she had been wandering about school grounds. Then in here by chance --should she make up something to pester her with? If not then all Sender could think of was the time she was wasting on both their parts. Could she do something for her?... perhaps.
"Well... Uh, I can't... that is, nothing I can think of." she said, honesty getting the better of her. She was never very skilled at lying or playing with words. Her brow wrinkled in slight distress. Now she had just felt like wasted space and air for Ms.Silivasi. She ought to make her acquaintances and be on her way. That was, untill...

"...Rather, you don't recognize me, Sender?"

She looked shocked upon hearing her name. How could she know, had they met before? She flushed with embarrassment, utterly unable to recall. It was all she could do to look away and focus on floor.
"I'm... afraid not. Did we meet before?" her tone was hushed, surprised she was still able to speak. Now that it was mentioned, the woman was rather familiar. If she had to make a guess, most likely the lithium causing foggy memory. It did that sometimes, and the results were frustrating as you could see.

Anyone looking from an outsiders standpoint could see that this may have been one of the most awkward encounters that Aurora had ever had in her life. Even worse was the fact that Sender, given her question about name, meant that she was also a student, making things much more strange in its own right. The mage tried to throw words, but for a few seconds, found herself quite unable to. She also tapped the keys on the piano.

There were no questions, but apparently Thirteen mentioning Sender's name was the right thing to do, preventing an escape of sorts. For 140 years old, Aurora was still taken aback about meeting someone so close to her...or at least a part of her. Had they met before? Did it count? Or not so much?

"I...yeah, in a sense we did. It's hard to explain."

Aurora almost never mentioned specifics about what she saw, what she felt in other timelines. It was against the rules that she had laid down for herself, but in the case, maybe it was better. Thirteen had a bit of a smile on her face as she tapped down the middle C key on the piano.

"I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we knew each other in different times and a different place. Really far away."

Aurora decided to forgo mentioning that Sender had appeared in her dreams, which were quite vivid, and very, very lucid. The things that happened in those dreams were also extremely varied, and the circumstances behind their meeting was also quite strange, but details were for another time.

"I'm sorry if it seems kind of strange. But I'm absolutely sure you're the same person I met."

Sender's eyes widened and squinted while Aurora spoke. At first she wasn't able to tell if she was being mocked; though the longer the woman went on, the more she grew curious. She had enrolled in a place where uncommons were commons and humans and normals the lesser. A place where she was rather outnumbered and to come across a demon or otherwise wasn't very surprising in the least. When you considered all that, was having the ability to peer in and out of other worlds very shocking? Maybe not, but how could someone like Sender not feel skeptical.
Maybe she couldn't jump worlds, but instead she was a time-traveller. If not, past lives were as vivid as her memories of now? And would something like that be easy to differentiate? No doubt she was old in that case --older than she had looked anyhow. She was a teacher afterall, Sender wasn't exactly expecting someone unexperienced to take the reigns on anything.

"I know it sounds a bit crazy, but we knew each other in different times and a different place. Really far away."

She smiled, still bashful. "Ms.Silivasi... it almost sounds as if you are coming on to me." she jested, although her mind rushed with wonderment on this other self of hers. Was she healthier than herself? Happier? Perhaps more bold, a warrior, someone rich perhaps? Who was this Aurora and what did she mean to her? A friend, maybe a teacher again. If other worlds existed, or even past lives, how did they work? All of these things and more she wanted to ask, though she wasn't a slack-jawed fool. She wouldn't be so quick to believe anything that was simply said.

"Interesting. Are you speaking of music? I've been told that it can cause you to travel through time or visit other places in a sense."
That's the best she could come up with to keep this conversation mostly sane on her part. Though the sweat on her brow would speak of other things. Worry, mostly.

Aurora was getting that squint. You know the one, where the person talking to you thought you were an absolute nut case who probably belonged in some sort of asylum. To be fair, this was not the first time someone had probably thought this, and understandably, avoiding situations like these was one of the reasons Aurora generally just kept her trap shut about the things she could or couldn't do. Thirteen slumped a little down on the bench, trying to figure out how in the world to explain this without sounding...well, weird.

Although she was probably too late.

"What? No no no no! No! Not at all!"

Yeah right. That's exactly what it was, and she knew it. The two had just met in this timeline, and already she was trying to force something that couldn't ever be possible. Well, not with these conditions anyways. And on that, maybe she was explaining this wholly the wrong way. The truth was extremely far-fetched, but at least it was the truth. Sugarcoating it however made things a bit simpler.

"And...no, I'm not talking about music for once. Yeah, it's true music is a gateway to other times and places, but I really mean that I, or some rendition of me has already met you. We, or they, depending on how you interpret things, are actually quite close."

And there it was. Yes, Aurora was kind of coming on to Sender, despite having just met her five minutes ago. Often, the worlds she were capable of seeing were strung from the same branch as their own timeline with some minor changes. Sender for example, seemed somewhat less rambunctious than the one in her own dreams.

"I'm sorry if you think I'm leading you on, I've just never met one of my other time's well...significant others."

Flush was prominent upon her cheeks. Every tiny word she heeded, unsure of how to take it all in. I was just joking, she thought, never meaning for this conversation to turn romantic in the slightest --even if it only involved herself, somewhere else, far away. This was to be an awkward semester in the very least. In the moment she found herself wondering if she would be learning of music at all.
For the benefit of the doubt, and for all of what it was worth; she believed her. If at the very least a little. While chewing her lip she considered, pondering on the idea of growing close to anyone at all, in any fashion. She had spent most of her life trying to fix herself, perfect herself to even take steps out in public. Being alone at all was frightening, but only because she couldn't stop herself if she had spun out of control. Even now the stress was boiling, crystal blue eyes growing shot with blood.

"I... knew what you were saying," she admitted, "I was just hoping you would change your mind. Maybe if I wasn't interested you'd grow bored."
Now it was hard to look at the woman, it seemed. Every time she tried her heart skipped a beat. Why that was even Sender was unsure.
The story about them living another life, together? She could have sworn before she dreamt of such things. Resting on the breast of a blonde haired woman, rushing through snow with sword in hand, slaying strangers and then dragging a bloodied, exhausted body back into the comforts of a solitary cabin in the middle of nowhere. Then she wondered if she was making that all up, caught up in the awe. It was more than likely she wanted Aurora's words to be her reality and not some unknown Sender.

"Well then. You've gone out of your way to have me enlightened... what was I like?"
Sender grew nervous, licking her lower lip. Wasn't there some kind of law against student teacher relations? Now she was really worried.
I'm not interested in that, she reassured herself. Romance wasn't what she was after --she was just curious of the other her, that was all. Her eyes flickered, braving to take Ms.Silivasi back into vision. She was a woman anyhow. Sender wasn't interested in women... right? O-of course.

Whatever Aurora was doing, it was probably illegal. Then again, a student having a Russian-made automatic rifle on campus should have been illegal too by all means, but at this point, more than a few of the people on the islands were probably capable of vaporizing the planet if they so chose, herself included. The only thing that kept them alive was the notion of mutually assured destruction for the most part.

As for Thirteen and Sender however, things were a bit different. The world wasn't at stake, and both timelines would keep on moving. It was just a matter of being happy. Things however, were all too strange. She was 140, and a teacher. She had kids. The difference in lives was something absolutely profound, and the thought of anything besides even a minor friendship was unprofessional at best...who knows what the worst was?

"If you're not interested, you can go."

Aurora was truthful about that. It's quite possible Sender had absolutely no interest in what she had to say. It was disheartening to hear, but if that was her wish, then so be it. It was not Aurora's place to force anything in the slightest...although some hope was restored when Sender asked what she was like in this supposed other world. Thirteen leaned back slightly, and lightly smiled, recalling what she had seen; then giggling realizing the differences.

"Brash, cold, rude, and always willing to pick a fight. Frankly, how they, we...however you want to interpret it, got together is still something of a mystery to me. There was another guy around too, but you never cared. Even if I was sick, you'd bring hot bread by my house every day, stay awhile, then always leave again, although where, I don't know. You took care of one of my best friends too. You're a mixed bag, Sender. It made you surprisingly charming."

There were other details as well, but she didn't have to talk about those. Still, Aurora was feeling a bit less awkward.

"We met on a pretty random walk. Fate is weird like that."

Her seat grew uncomfortable, so she shifted. Lifting one leg to cross over the other, and even as she wiggled in place her ears didn't miss a beat. She was growing quite involved with her... story, let's call it. How she was described didn't seem too much different, as if this other Sender had been contented with her temper --if her conditions were even the same, that was. It must be nice to live a life free of care or medication. As for picking fights, well... did that mean she was a warrior of sorts? Or simply a fist throwing youth? The details wouldn't matter in the end. More or less it was the context, searching for the significance of this romance Ms.Silivasi was so determined to hold on to, even in another life it seemed.

"A walk, huh?" her brow wrinkled. That didn't sound very climaxing. "I don't suppose I-- she picked a fight with you, did she?"
And why not? If she was so hotheaded and violent, if she was her right now, maybe she'd be annoyed enough to toss her over the piano. The thought caused her to laugh softly, though in truth she wouldn't ever dare. "Did she even win any of those fights to be had?"

"...And what about you?" her laughter stopped, and suddenly her tone was gentle yet eager, "What are you like?"

Alright, maybe the question came out a little strange, but Sender didn't think she could beat Aurora in this battle of gracelessness. Nevertheless... what was it that made Aurora so alluring, so lovable? What would compel her to visit anyone on occasion, with gifts no less? So many questions. She looked behind her shoulder briefly, making sure no one was around to listen or force the chat to an ending.
