Starting Location: Starlight Academy

Not even a week. Dalia had been back to school not even a week when Amber went missing. She had been such a mess she hadn't paid attention to anyone else. Hadn't noticed the stares and the whispers behind her back. Not that she cared anyway. She knew she deserved it.

But Amber, Phaedra, and Ossa. They didn't deserve the treatment they were getting. The assumptions that they were like her. They weren't. They weren't put together wrong. That was the best way Dalia could describe it, though she never would. No one could know. It would break Mal and Mama's hearts. Her sisters too. They would hate her, she just knew it.

These were the thoughts that kept Dalia from taking notes in her classes like she was supposed to. These were the thoughts that kept her quiet and to herself during lunch. And when the school day ended, these thoughts very nearly made Dalia miss the comment that some seventh grade made as she passed her in the courtyard.

"...and there are four of the little fucks. Who knows when the other three will go psycho. My money's on the one that wears the hood. She already dresses like she's gonna..."

Dalia bristled, all six of her eyes cutting over to the girl who was speaking. Without fully realizing what was happening, she started moving towards the girl and her friends. Her hair bow ignited, creating a halo of flame above her head.

Dalia wanted to shout at her, spit every profanity she had ever heard Mal say. But more than that, wanted to tear into them, this girl and her friends. Show them just what she had done to Argenta and make them think twice about badmouthing her family again.

Without thinking, Dalia rushed, intent on tackling the offending girl right there with no heed to the sparse crowds dotting the courtyard.

He had been passing through the courtyard at the academy after dropping something off for one of the history instructors at the end of his day. Something bright caught his attention out of the corner of his eye, was that the girl that had been involved in the incident not too long ago? He was pretty certain it was her and he had a pretty good idea of what set her off as he caught the tail end of what one of the group she was about to charge into was taking about. He understood the way she felt and why she was in that mental state right out of the gate upon hearing those words.

He wasn't going to make it in time to stop her from getting to them so he turned the flow of time backwards while moving closer to her so he could snag her by her book bag and stop her before she did something that she would regret. It was odd to him every time he did this as the people around him started to move backwards and paid no heed of him since technically he was sort of out of the timeline's flow as he did this. You could say it was like he was watching the world like it was a movie that he had to fast forward, play, and rewind buttons for.

It only took him about thirty seconds to get to where he could stop her and save her from this action should she choose to let him help her. Hitting play as he found himself within arms reach of her and being able to hear the entire comment being made by the girl gave him an even clearer understanding of why she is flying off the handle. His hand reached out and took hold of the the handle at the top of her backpack to keep her from charging forward. It was kind of odd for him to reach out like this if he had stopped to think about it.

"Don't let them win, I understand the need to trust your instincts and protect your siblings but right now this will only hurt them and you. If you attack them you will only make their misguided and ignorant words true."

She moved to charge the girl, but found herself halted by someone tugging hard on her backpack.
She turned her head, glaring daggers at the offending person. How dare he stop her.
It took her a moment to process what he was saying, through her string of curses and fighting against his grip.

"What do you know? You don't know anything about any of this!"
She was making a scene, yelling and flailing. People were staring.
But eventually, Dalia calmed down and slumped over, spent.

"My sisters aren't bad. They're... not..." she muttered.

He held on as she struggled to get away from him but managed to keep his grip. He didn't mind her turning her anger to him since he had stopped her from doing what she wanted to in the moment. Once she slumped to the ground and the ribbon stopped burning he let go of her pack and actually gave her a pat on the head, "Stay here for a moment please." As he says that to her he walks over to the group of girls she was about to attack.

Stopping them which they didn't seem pleased about, "Now I heard what you said about that girl over there and her sisters. I'm going to give you a choice now, first you can stop spreading rumors and lies about people or I can report all of you to the school for discrimination against other students. Make your choice and don't think I won't do it."

Leaving them to sit there and panic over what he had just said and rejoining Dalia, "Now we let them sit and worry about what is going to happen to them. If you don't mind I'll walk you home and we can talk. You seem very protective of your sisters, you must love them a lot and they are lucky to have a sister who will stand up for them."

Dalia didn't know what to do or say, really. She watched in a mixture of awe and disappointment as the older student who had stopped her from attacking those girls marched over and reprimanded them. Told them to stop spreading rumors and lies. But we're they lies? Dalia had definitely maimed another student. She had kidnapped her and cut her face up. Broken her arm. From what Dalia had heard since she got back from juvie, the damage was pretty bad.

She shook her head, dispelling the thoughts. She was the only one broken. Phaedra, Amber, and Ossa. They were innocent. She was the one... more head shaking. It didn't matter.
As the man returned, Dalia set all six of her eyes on him. He told her she was protective of her sisters.
And offered to walk her home and talk to her. She was wary, but nodded slowly. She could always use her silk and fire to run if he had any intention of hurting her. And really, the prospect of going home, of not having to deal with any more of this stuff for the day, was appealing.

Gesturing the man to follow her, Dalia began skittering towards the edge of campus. Towards the downtown. Towards home. Once they were out of earshot, she started rambling. Dalia wasn't sure why, but she found it easier to talk about her problems to strangers. People who by all rights had no stake in her well being. People who weren't Malara, Pandora, Chloe, or Shay.

"They're right though, you know. At least about me. I'm a freak. I went way too far and I'm not even sorry I did it. I'm just sorry I got caught. But my sisters didn't do anything! They would've tried to stop me, if they had known..."
