Part of exploring a new dimension was partaking in their customs and traditions. That's how Kiron ended up being paired with a Dalia Tor for a gift exchange. The slip of paper containing her details listed out her interest, and things that he should avoid giving, which didn't list anything. As for the suggestions, there was no particular gift this person wanted. It was fortunate that one of the entries was "Rollerblading", which after some time spent researching, revealed to have a very similar counterpart on ice, named ice skating. The main problem he saw was that rollerblades didn't work on ice, and ice skates didn't work on the ground. And with how similar these two are, he thought, why not merge them and have it be more convenient to carry. So after working for days to perfect the gift, he stood near the decorated tree in the city park in the afternoon, a wooden box under his arm, and his usual dark blue outfit being dusted white with light snowfall. He could feel himself be excited at this little event as this was perhaps the first time he ever made anything as a gift towards a complete stranger. He didn't even know what this person looked like, or if his gift would fit, even though he made it adjustable. But even though if that would end up being the situation he finds himself in, it would only take a day or two to correct.

Dalia had no idea what 'unique magical items' would even entail when she'd gotten her partner for the secret Santa gift swap. What counted as unique? She wasn't about to just hand some rando an Infinity Stone or whatever and hope everything turned out alright. On the other hand, having an excuse to kick some megalomaniac's ass would have been a nice gift in and of itself.

She skated her way to the big tree at the center of Oceania Park, mostly keeping an easygoing pace and only supplementing with a little jolt of speed when she felt herself slowing down too much or if she needed to get past a couple making out.

She had her gift wrapped up and hidden inside her backpack as she skidded to a stop in front of the tree. Dalia slammed into a bench with an 'oof,' grinning after ensuring that she hadn't bruised from the impact.

Now she just needed to find her partner. Or make him find her. Yeah, that was easier. "Oi! It's ya girl, Dalia Tor! Here for the Secret Santa exchange! Come out and face my festive, generous wrath!"

Yeah, that sounded about right.

The screaming self-introduction somewhere nearby caught Kiron's attention. "Dalia Tor, is it? I am Kiron Hel'Sarie." he said, walking towards the teenager. He took the ornate wooden box from under his arm and offered it leveled in both hands. It was about the size of a wine box, but built like a chest with a latch locking the two halves together. "I hope this is to your liking."

Dalia crossed her arms and looked up at this edgy looking guy with his black hair and cool clothes, pursing her lips as he set the wooden crate down onto the ground. "Yeah, that's me. Nice to meet you Kiron, I fuckin' guess." She was glad he'd said his name first. She definitely would have butchered it and she didn't want to look less cool in front of her secret Santa partner.

"And I hope you like yours," she continued, pulling the wrapped gift out of her backpack and handing it over. Dalia was practically vibrating, her hair starting to frizz up with electricity as she handed over the present. She really wanted to see what was in that crate, but it would have been rude to just tear into it like an animal. Plus she wanted to see what he thought of his gift.

Inside the Christmas wrapping was a box that contained a bolt of semi-transparent cloth. It was silk-like and incredibly stretchy, but durable as well. The last of her fireproof spider silk, from back when she could produce it. "That's magic spider silk; ten times stronger than steel and also completely fireproof. You can have it made into basically anything. That's the last of it that hasn't already been made into clothes. Unique enough for ya?"

Hmm... Was that hostility? Not likely. Profanities were used in somewhat polite conversations as well. He learned this in his day-to-day when overhearing customers in his shop. Though it was strange to hear it being directed to him. He took his gift and surgically removed half of the wrapping in a single swift motion, not tearing it off completely, so a piece of it held on, allowing the torn wrapping to dangle to the side. When he opened the box, he took out the bolt of fabric. Dalia explained what it was and his expression changed to a smile of satisfaction. "This is fucking lit," he said with a soft chuckle. "Yes this is certainly an amazing gift. Thank you. Perhaps I'll use it to line a cloak, or perhaps gloves." He put the fabric back into the box and covered it up. He motioned to his gift and waited for Dalia to open it. Inside, there were two leather straps, two inches wide and studded with an array of dark violet crystals in the shape of diamonds. And on the inside of the straps was Dalia's name. "Since you enjoyed rollerblading, I've made something that will hopefully lighten your load by not having to carry your roller blades everywhere. Those are ankle straps. Put them on, tap the tip of your foot on the ground twice, and clink the straps together, and a pair of roller blades will pop onto your feet as you lift them from the ground. I made it so that it will adapt to the surface you are on, whether on the ground, on the ice, or on water and other liquid surfaces. On the latter two, they will become ice skates. And so long as you are in motion, you should not sink into the water. And don't worry about any existing footwear you are using, as the skates will wrap around them."

A lot of what Kiron said about Dalia's gift flew right over her head. She had no idea what the technical stuff he said meant, but she used a trick she'd learned from a book, repeating the sentence back in her head and censoring out the words that she didn't know. After a minute of staring at the ankle straps and pursing her lips in concentration, her eyes lit up.

"Fuck me, that sounds cool as shit!"

Kiron might have put his gift away, but Dalia was going to try hers out immediately. Her normal skates went into the box and she stood barefoot on the cold sidewalk with the straps on her feet. It took her a second to recall the motion he'd told her to use - maybe she could get someone to change it to a code word instead. But when the skates wrapped around her feet and the wheels popped out of the bottom, her smile widened even further into the trademarked Manic Tor Grin.

"These feel great. I gotta try them on open water at some point."

She sparked and almost instantly closed the gap between herself and Kiron, throwing her arms around him in a surprise hug. "This kicks so much ass! I love them."

The surprise hugs his more lively cousin gave him turned out to be a good teacher in how not to be tackled down as he kept his footing despite the snow when Dalia hugged him. Needless to say, it seemed as if she enjoyed the gift. He gently pat the girl's shoulder three times and said, "I'm glad you like it. If you ever need it fixed, stop by the Null Horizon. And not to worry, I won't charge for it." This has certainly been an enlightening experience. He was no stranger to the act of gift giving, but this was the first time he gave something like this to a complete stranger. And given the fact that he had very little information on her, getting the gift right at first try was fulfilling. Perhaps he might do this more often.

"Will do! Gah, this kicks so much ass. I'm gonna..."

Dalia let go of Kiron, looking around for something to test her new skates out on. There was a tree about a hundred feet away, in a patch of deeper snow that people hadn't walked through yet.

Falling into a crouch, she sparked and gave a shout as she shot like a rocket away from her starting position, leaving a brief static charge in the air. She rocketed through the snow, then over the snow until she reached the tree.

Using her arm as a lever, Dalia pivoted around the tree and shot right back over to Kiron, hockey stopping just short of hitting him.

"Oh yes. These are gonna work out just fine. Bitches better beware, cause I'm omnidirectional now."

Kiron watched as Dalia displayed her proficiency with the footwear, coupled with her abilities and apparent control of electricity. It was impressive to say the least. He wondered if either of his cousins had tried rollerblading before, and wondered how difficult it'd be for him to try it himself. It was a novel way of travel for him, but there must be a great deal of enjoyment in it, judging by the young girl's excitement. When she returned to him, he offered an applause. "Wonderful display! Tell me, if you may, how long have you been rollerblading for? It seems you have quite the experience with it."

Dalia caught her breath, grinning like a madwoman as she checked out her skates from different angles. "Oh I started sometime last year. Bit I basically do it all the time, and I push myself hard so I have to get good or get wrecked. But even before that I was always really mobile. Gave me a really good sense of balance and judging distances."
