As dusk approached outside, Mindy Rogers was inside the city library conducting her own research to unravel local mysteries of which are of great abundance on this this island. On a lonely wooden table did she sit, reading an enchanted tome about various hypothesis on how ghosts can come into existence. It was something she found relevant to her condition and it was one of the few books she could physically interact due to some "ghost-touch" enchantments placed upon it. So far in long hours she has spent at this library, not a single person has bothered her since she "sat" herself on the in the seat. Maybe they were being respectful, maybe they are too concerned with their own research, or maybe its because of the aura of cold she emits that repels them all away. Regardless of the reason, it was nice that she hasn't been bothered yet as it allowed to her focus solely on why it her ghostly spirit persisted? Was it product of her unique circumstance upon her death? Or was it the dissatisfaction of her life never allowed to achieve peace with herself and thus still bound to this early plane? Perhaps the answer she is looking for will be on the next page?

As she continued to read, she suddenly felt... something? A presence approaching? As it crept closer, Mindy turned to observe what it was that was emitting such a strange presence.

Shay had decided to visit the library that day. Every library held nostalgic memories for her. It was in a library that she had befriended Theo. It was in a library that she had first felt Val's presence. And now, it was in a library that she took comfort and awed at the feeling of pure magic as it coursed through her.

It wasn't true magic, as most on the island would know it. It was the magic that came from childhood. Good experiences. Safety and home. Where the heart resided and hers just happened to be with libraries.

She knew the moment she was inside that a ghost was here, which wasn't terribly uncommon, Manta Colar was home to many spirits. She tried to ignore it, but it was a persistent, urgent feeling and Shay found herself drawn to it.

Never one to deny instinct for long, she followed the source until she approached Mindy. Here was the part that was tricky.

"Hey there. Mind if I sit with you?"

Mindy cocked an eyebrow as the presence she felt approaching her was but young maiden somewhere in her teens. Old enough to have developed her womanly assets but young enough to have her more delicate features retained. The girl marched with confidence and her speech was firm and direct. Curious. It was obvious however that girl intended more than to just merely sit. She may look ordinary at first glance but even Mindy can't deny that there was something about that she can't put her finger on. Still, Mindy banked on the fact that she didn't intend to bring her any harm. Perhaps this enigma of woman will unravel herself in due time.

"From the way you marched over here... I assume you want more just a moments respite for your legs. Course, I have no authority here to keep you from sitting down so do as you will."

Mindy, would then continue her reading of her magical tome. The girl wanted something from her though what it was she can't quite say yet. The girl, whomever she was, will surely introduce herself and make her intentions known.

Shay couldn't help but notice the book Mindy was reading. She noted it, and sat at Mindy's side and set her things on the table.

"I'm Eroshay Rosales, by the by." She paused a moment, then reached out to gesture to the book, laying her finger on its spine. "Unfinished business. That's the one they generally talk about first, yeah? That's what a lot of people have probably told you.

"It's not always true; it's not even mostly true. Sometimes, it's the trauma of the event that killed you. You can't comprehend it, or you can't move on from it. Something is tying you here, or you're just lost inside and afraid of what you might find on the other side."

Shay grinned, but the expression didn't reach her eyes, even as there was warmth behind it. "I'm a Reaper. Not a Grim Reaper, in case you're going to ask. We're not the same thing, but similar enough."

"... if this is suppose to a pitch for some insurance scam or some ghostly retirement home for grumpy ghosts like myself? If so will save you the trouble and let you know that I have no interest in what your selling... unless it be information Ms. Rosales." plainly stated Mindy, not bothering to give Eroshay so much as glance.

"Whatever it is that being a Reaper entails, you appear to have some authority on the subject of ghosts and spirits. Much more than me, that much I will admit."

Mindy then flipped a page on the ethereal tome and frowned somewhat, clearly disappointed on whatever it was the next page was describing.

"Errmm... well since are still here Ms. Eroshay, care to enlighten me on the subject of being Reaper? There is many myth and legends of Reapers from cultures all over yet... there is little cohesion between. Some say they are guides for the lost, others judges for wicked, and some... omens of future calamities." stated Mindy, closing the tome with a audible thud.

"Asking just in case your just here to check up on me or if your here to drag me off to hell or something."

Shay chuckled and gave Mindy a long look over. People were predictably difficult. She supposed the dead had a lot to be unhappy about. Most ghosts Shay met weren't exactly sentient anymore, and the ones who were tended to like living (unliving? Non-living? Whatever).

Shay didn't bother answering the first spew. Instead, she waited until Mindy asked her the one million dollar question. Shay sighed a hint wistfully. That was a big question, but Shay was lucky to have been spending more time with Regis and getting the answers to questions like these.

"Just Shay is fine," she began. "We are all of those things and more. The truth is, Reapers don't only help the dead. We help in all manners of death, even those which are symbolic."

She grinned. "But, we -- or, at least I -- don't drag people anywhere. I just help them get where they want to go, no afterlife is necessary. I couldn't even tell you what an afterlife would look like for the normal soul.

"I guess there isn't a whole lot of us, and yeah, information is vague. You tend to look into Grim Reapers, which is not always strictly information about us. You might be hearing more about Death themself.

"Now. Why was I drawn to you?"
