The house was in better shape than it had been in a long while.
Adelaida usually only bothered to keep things in the bare minimum of order to begin with. She spent every waking moment doing something, meaning she was either not in the house or too busy doing something else to clean up. At the same time, it wasn't like she had guests in some time. And usually, those guests were in there for the night only, and weren't the kind of people who were in the state of mind to nitpick.
She had few belongings as well. In her room was a single wardrobe, and a cabinet for the few trinkets that she owned. Most of her other things were on display in the living room downstairs, or in the kitchen next to it.
Downstairs, she was busying herself setting the couches straight, with the TV providing white noise to drown the voices out. She looked at one of the few things she collected - a full liquor bar - and was satisfied to know that it was still fairly well-supplied.
Adelaida had an excess of energy for today. She had invited someone who'd captured her interest over for drinks - a woman named Aliasse. They'd met by chance, and hadn't really had the time to properly get to know each other. Tonight, should it pan out, was Adelaida's attempt at remedying that.
She sat down with her first glass of whiskey for the night. "Nothing now but waiting," she said to herself. If it didn't pan out, at least she had Ancient Aliens to laugh at on the TV.
