"I'm sorry did you say something?" She called out from the other side of the portal before stepping back out with a couple soft, fluffy blankets held in her arms.

"Oh. Yeah, I guess I've kinda stocked up on a bunch of things over the years. Have to say, it's real convenient."

She shifted the blankets under one of her arms and used the free hand to close the open rift to her personal pocket dimension.

"It's funny. When I was little it was like my own private clubhouse. Now its more like a combination emergency shelter and storage shed."

"I can see that," Jasmine said with a nod. "When I was little, I thought that going camping with my troop was this great big adventure. And it was still fun as I got older, but for a while there I stopped believing in monsters and well... the woods were a little less fun and magical during that time."

Holding out her hands to take one of the blankets so that Aria wasn't carrying everything, she said, "Let's find a spot to set these up, yeah? It'll be getting dark enough before too long, and I don't wanna miss a thing with you."

She didn't want a spot too far away from camp, so they could get back to the fire and the tent, but far enough away that the fire - low as it had gotten, wouldn't wash out any of the light from the sky. "And somewhere without too many rocks or roots would be nice. Sitting on a rock for any length of time isn't fun," she added with a quiet laugh as she found a spot that looked good.

Aria couldn't quite relate to the concept of monsters not being real, given that she was keenly aware of the existence of supernatural beings in the world. But the fading of the metaphorical magic of childhood was still somewhat universally relatable.

"Hey, you're standing here right next to a magical spirit from another world so I guess I could be real corny and say these woods tonight are plenty magical." She laughed and happily handed over the other blanket to Jasmine.

She couldn't help but note the possibly implications of how that had been phrased- not wanting to miss a thing with her. It was so accidentally flirty a thing to say thst it surprised her a bit. Or maybe she was overthinking a bit too much. Either way, they meandered their way out of danger of any rocky situations to a spot that seemed nice enough. Soft ground and a decent view above them as the sky began the slow cooling from smouldering reds and oranges of sunset into the oceanic blue and purple depths of night.

"Hopefully this'll be far more soft and comfy than all that. Can't enjoy the moment if you're too busy growing bruises. Although now I'm real curious about your expertise in rock-sitting. Just how hard core are you Ms eagle scout?" She laughed but quicker a brow in mock suspicion as she lay out her blanket on the ground for them to sit on.

"I've never considered myself hardcore," Jasmine admitted as the two of them settled down to watch the sky. It was so pretty out here and the way the sun set was just like back home. One of those little things that reminded her that even though she was in a different world, that didn't mean that hers had ended.

"Though I guess I kind of am. A lot of the stuff I learned just seemed normal, but I... have you ever read Hatchet or My Side of the Mountain? They're about kids not just surviving, but thriving in the wilderness. I wanted to be like that when I was little and, it might sound braggy but I think I could do it. I know how to tan and process leather, I can tell a lot of poisonous plants from safe ones - and the ones I don't know I know how to safely test."

She paused, chewing on the inside of her lip. Jasmine didn't know where she was going with this, but she knew it had to go somewhere. It would be weird to just stroke her own ego like that with no point to it. So she slid a little closer to Aria, laying her head against her shoulder as the stars began to become visible in the sky above.

"Compared to that, this is completely uncharted territory for me. I don't know how to deal with people in a situation where there's not a clear hierarchy or work that needs doing. And I'm still figuring out like... what I want an how to communicate that to other people."

Unsure whether she should put an arm around Jasmine as she drew close or not, Aria opted to hedge her bets and pull a blanket up around their shoulders like a shared cloak. Just so happening to end up with her arm also loosely draped around the other girl. The sky above was stunning, but she had some trouble not focusing on Jasmine instead.

"So hardcore," she laughed. "Like I said, as a genuine city girl I'd be absolutely lost trying to live in the wilderness. Although I guess it's kind of different for me since i'm a spirit." She didn't want to think about how terribly lonely that would be though. The crushing depression of having no one to talk to or spend time with would more than make up for the lack of a need for food or water.

"Anyways though, I do know a thing or two about figuring out what you want. Took me a while too. Try not to force it too much. Focus on how you're feeling in the moment and see if you can figure that out first before trying to think three steps ahead of everyone and yourself."

"That's good advice," Jasmine said, nodding a bit and laying her head against Aria's shoulder so that she could look at her. She was a much better view than the stars, and as the night wore on Jazz found that she could be more comfortable in admitting that to herself. "Being happy isn't something I ever thought was, ya know, all that important compared to being like... ah, successful, I guess. Or maybe I thought that being successful would make me happy."

But that hadn't been true: the more Jasmine had succeeded the more miserable she had felt in the long run. Here she was only a B student and none of the achievements that she'd made in the Boy Scouts actually mattered. Or at least they didn't have any real weight. She wasn't going to get into college on her Eagle Scout status.

"So don't think three steps ahead. Easier said than done but... I think I can manage that," she finally said with a small chuckle. "Just promise me you'll snap me out of it if I go too wild?" She hoped that her joke came across well enough.

Aria smiled wide and pulled her arm just a little tighter around Jasmine. "I promise," she answered quietly but with a strong air of sincerity. "If you start to go too feral I'll rein you in. Or take away your merit badges or something. I don't know a lot about all that. But I've got your back. Literally. Its right here" she patted Jasmine on the back with her arm to emphasize the dumb joke.

"Now. Too much seriousness isn't what we're here for, right? What do you see up there? Me, I can kind of see a weird oblong bear of you squint a little." She laughed as she pointed up at the stars. Not yet catching on that the other woman was a bit more focused on sights other than the stars themselves. Or trying not to call her out on it in case it made her too self conscious and stop.
