Hikaru bounced from one foot to the other, oni mask ready and hanging around his neck. He waited for Sushi to arrive at his room, anticipation building inside him faster than the fuse on a lit firework. He was ready. So ready to make himself known. Make himself heard! He was going to help people have a good time - break up the monotony of living in the dorms! Help people feel less lonely!

And he was gonna do it with a friend. He was so excited. He couldn't wait. It was time to spook. And the oni mask was mostly to help him feel hyped; it wasn't like people would be able to see him. "Uuurgh..." he said with his language charm still on. (He'd need it for this evening's shenanigans.) "I really hope Sushi arrives soon..."

The little fish boy donned his raincoat, boots and helmet, then rushed out to go find Hikaru’s room. The only problem was he didn’t really know exactly which room was his. He kind of knew how to read numbers now, but hadn’t paid very close attention the last time he was there. But that was no problem. He’d just go to doors in the general area until he either found Hikaru or somebody else showed him the way.

And so he got to work. He went to open a door in the hallway, but remembered that it was rude not to knock and did that instead.

Before long, a kid came out. Then after a lengthy discussion about the kid’s pretty bracelet, Sushi was sent on his way to what that kid thought was Hikaru’s room.

Try number two. This one actually was the right room. Sushi gave it a knock. “Is Hikaru in here?”

He could feel it. Anticipation building as he waited. The sun was beginning to set - they were gonna run out of time! Just when Hikaru couldn't take it anymore and was gonna go to Sushi himself, he heard a knock on the door and the familiar tinny voice asking if he was there.

"Yes, I'm here!" He called happily and basically ripped the door open, yanking it towards him with far more force than necessary. "Are you ready? Do you know the plan?" He asked, eyes aglow with excitement and not his weird eye power thing.

Sushi jumped back a little, startled at first before recollecting his composure. “Hikaru! Hello.”

His head bobbed up and down. “Yes, I am ready.” As for the plan... “We sit in the hallway and then we say boo. Then they go aah. Then we go do not be afraid it is only us, Hikaru and Sushi. Then they laugh?” He was still maybe a tad fuzzy on all of this. He certainly didn’t completely understand how being frightened could be fun, but this experience would surely teach him.

Hikaru was so glad! So glad to see Sushi! The plan was going to go ahead. They were going to have some fun.

"Well...it's kind of like that. But let me do the speaking. All you need to do is help me to be invisible! And then when I give you the sign, we will go un-invisible! And we will tell them it's okay." Hikaru looked away at this, holding his fingers crossed behind his back. He wasn't sure if he was telling the truth - but then if he let them stay scared, Sushi might feel betrayed - he didn't want to let his friend down.

He was starting to have apprehensions about this plan, but he was going to carry through.

Sushi nodded. “I am good at that. We can do what Lauren used to!” Be held up his hand. “When you want to be invisible just hold my hand. When you want to not be invisible, let go. Do you understand?”

Sushi looked around, not seeing anyone nearby. “Do we do it right now?”

This whole thing sounded like mostly watching and just going invisible when Hikaru wanted, he was sure he could manage that. He wouldn’t let Hikaru down.

"I understand!" He nodded with an excited grin. "Yes, we can do it right now. So I will get used to the blue seeing." He'd decided. He was definitely going to make the spooking humorous. Maybe scary at first, then he could do something silly! Like play circus music! But some people were afraid of clowns, so he was probably gonna just show a big smiley or something. Probably a message saying [It's OK! It is just a prank!] would do fine.

Yeah! That was a good idea. Then they could reveal themselves and all laugh together. Maybe they'd make friends afterwards!

"Yes, okay. I am ready." Sushi held out his hand. As usual, he had a smile on his face. Even if Hikaru couldn't see it, the tone of his voice coming through the speaker on his helmet was enough to let him know that the fish boy was excited.

If Hikaru were to grab his hand, his helmet would flash twice and they'd both disappear.

Hikaru took a moment to close the door behind Sushi and put his phone on his desk, pointed at them so they could record this awesome, historic moment. He was just as excited as Sushi! He knew that the invisible thing affected his vision, so he was gonna see what it was like if he tried it while under its effects.

Summoning an illusion of a smiley face, he allowed it to float in the room in view of the camera (which did capture illusions, he'd found out upon coming here) so that he'd see what would happen to it if he went invisible. Would it fade?

He took Sushi's hand and let his friend do the rest of the work. Blinking once, then twice, they 'vanished' and Hikaru felt the strange, tingly feeling all over again and his eyesight took on various shades of blue. It was an uncomfortable sensation, but he supposed he wasn't complaining. At least he was able to see at all, really. He noticed that the illusion seemed to be gone, and frowned. Hmm. That was a shame. He'd have to try spooking without his illusions, then? He could still feel the feeling of using magic, though. That warmth inside was still there. Hikaru wondered what this could mean as he let go. "Sushi, let us go back to not being seeable."

...and the illusion was there. Had it been there the whole time?

After releasing his hand from Hikaru's, Sushi and Hikaru would both suddenly become visible once more as Sushi toggled off the ability. The fish boy then turned to face upward at Hikaru. "Is everything okay?" It seemed like they hadn't been invisible very long, so Sushi wasn't sure what had happened. Perhaps it was just a test for the camera, to know for certain that they were in fact invisible. After all, he'd used the ability for ages without actually realizing that what it did was make him invisible. He just knew big fish didn't really come after him so long as it was on.
