Hah'en managed to get the man to his knees, and with her strength it wasn't hard to keep him there. It seemed like this man wasn't a fighter, and Hah'en didn't think he was all that strong either. He was a thief, a sneaker like her. Although at the moment it seemed she was superior in that respect. It made Hah'en feel slightly smug, she was always pleased when her abilities beat someone else's. Call it the dragon's pride in her.

The man spoke to himself, his words not aimed at Hah'en. She didn't comment on it, though she considered gagging the man. No worries for him to even try and manipulate Hah'en. She had strengthened her willpower for mind abilities exactly like this and she had her mist, but Hah'en wasn't immune, unfortunately.

Now the man spoke to Hah'en directly, and she tightened her grip at the man's neck, preparing herself for the conflicted feeling from earlier. But...nothing. The man wasn't trying to manipulate Hah'en. Or, well, judging from his words he was, but without the boost from his ability. And without said boost the words were useless.

"Ridiculous"
was all Hah'en said, voice monotone with a small undertone of exasperation. She proceeded to press her foot against the man's upper back so he kept looking down while she grabbed a hard leather snare from her belt, on her guard the entire time. Hah'en didn't loosen her grip on the man's wrists even for a second. With experienced and efficient movements she wrapped the snare around the man's wrists and tied them tightly, barely loose enough to allow blood flow, using a knot from her own world that she knew didn't exist in this one. Hah'en didn't trust handcuffs; she could get out of them in 10 seconds flat, less if she was in a hurry. But it would take even Hah'en 5 or so minutes to get out of this leather snare when tied like this, so it should hold a thief such as this.

It wasn't working. She was obviously trained as more than just a simple security guard. He was going to have to think of something fast. There was no way he was going to be caught now. Doing a heist all for himself with only one guard working. It just wouldn't do.

The foot in his back caused him to grimace. It also caused the idea to come to his mind. "You clever fox," the demon said to his vessel. Nux was obviously impressed by what Adryan was about to attempt.

As his captor began to put the snare on his wrists, Adryan saw his opportunity. He sharply inhaled as if from the foot to the back and held the breath. Quickly phasing through the snare and straight into the floor, Adryan remained there as it wasn't thin enough for him to emerge on the other side of anything. Here he would wait, listening.

Yet another dirty trick. This man truly was the embodiment of a thief. Or so Hah'en thought when the man suddenly took in a breath and then just...dropped into the floor. It happened too suddenly even for Hah'en and by the time she reached out for the man he had sunken into the floor.

Yet again Hah'en clicked her tongue in subtle frustration. She picked up her snare and put it back on her belt and took a short moment to consider her options. There were few; Hah'en had been given very clear instructions to guard this specific artifact. She knew the manor had a cellar, and since she had seen that the thief could phase then it was a safe bet he had dropped down there. But Hah'en very quickly decided she had no intentions to pursue him. Hah'en's employer had told her, that this artifact was the centerpiece of their collection. Any other artifact could be stolen, and they could just replace it. But not this one. Thus, the course of action was clear.

Hah'en spread her mist out across the whole library again, very thin like before the thief had arrived. She moved so she stood in the shadow of a column few meters from the statue, her steps yet again soundless due to the mist coating her. Hah'en took her water bottle from her belt and drank it empty in one quick sip. Using her mist so much was starting to deplete her body fluids.

Adryan had to think quickly. If his attacker wasn't a typical guard, they more than likely wouldn't get distracted and leave the room they were tasked to guard. He recalled the layout of the room and where he was. He didn't know where the guard had gone.

Options were limited. They more than likely had put the mist back around. The door was still open, but he doubted that would help vent the mist anymore, they could obviously control it. The mist seemed to make phasing more difficult, so the door might be the best option. "You ready?"

Adryan was as ready as he was ever going to be. Phasing back up through the floor, he knew he wouldn't have long. Having already gone over the layout in his mind he knew the door was the opposite direction of the artifact. Maybe him moving away from it would cause his now seeming rival to hesitate on acting.

Crawling up to his feet into a run, Adryan made a break for the door, making no attempt to hide himself. It was pointless right now.

Hah'en had to admit that she was surprised, when the thief emerged from the very same spot. So he had merely been submerged in the floor? Sneaky little thief...
Hah'en didn't waste time, and surged after the thief. She was much faster, and managed to tackle the thief halfway to the door. She lifted the man up by his wrists again, her grip tight enough to leave bruising for later.
"You are the very embodiment of a thief"
Hah'en commented, keeping her voice monotone but there was a slight undertone of something like acknowledgement.

This man had managed to evade Hah'en, and had she been a normal guard he might've actually managed to steal the statue and escape. He had picked an unlucky night to raid this place. But perhaps precisely because Hah'en wasn't a normal guard this was also a lucky night for him.
Hah'en gripped the man's throat with her free hand, squeezing it almost hard enough to be painful, and she let some of her dragon side show as she growled lowly to his ear

"If you cross my path again you will not live to tell the tale"

And with that Hah'en dragged the man over to a window, opened it and threw the man out, as far as she could. And with her strength that was enough to deliver the man almost to the fence. The manor's front garden wasn't that big, after all, and the windows faced to the front of the house.
Hah'en closed the window and temporarily withdrew her mist. She needed to keep a hydration break, and the thief wasn't an idiot. He wouldn't come back, not tonight. And after the night after this he wouldn't be Hah'en's problem anymore. They will never meet again.

Adryan wasn't fast enough. His one concern. He was hit from behind and knocked to the floor. Upon being picked up by the wrist, he grunted in slight pain. He was going to have a few marks in the morning, especially after being lifted up by the throat.

"Easy....not the face....that's the...money maker..."

He joked, more outta fear than anything, especially after hearing the change in voice. Being carried to a window, Adryan braced to get sent through it, but it was thankfully opened before he was thrown out of it.

Landing and skidding into the fence, it took Adryan a moment to stand back up. A hand gripped his hid. Hazel green eyes looked back to the window where Hah'en was still standing. He gave a small sarcastic wave. "You never learn do you?"

"I'm still alive aren't I?"

With that, Adryan turned and disappeared into the nigt to return home and lick his wounds.
