Gale breathed deeply. It was her first day at her new school and even though she was excited she was also terrified. She's never seen so many people, or so many different kind of people. She started to pull at her ears wishing her chest would stop pounding. Reminding herself that people were only looking at her cause she was new, not her scales. She clutched her large messenger bag to her put on a huge smile giggled a little to psych herself into being really excited.

It was her first day. She was gonna make her first friend. Talk to people not her parents and it would be the best day ever! With renewed motivation Galene Macris took her first couple of steps towards her new school.

It only took Gale a couple of minutes to get to the admins office, but it took a bit to actually knock. She tugged at her ear and breathed then took her hand and rapped it against the door. She jumped slightly at the sound ad looked at her hand in mild surprise, she never really heard a knock before, it was kinda fun. So she started lightly knocking on the door and giggling to herself for several minutes.

<div align=center>All William could think about was how dead he'd be if someone else had found his cell phone. The poor boy was vulnerable as it was, and the thought of someone rifling through his text messages and contacts absolutely terrified him. He was rather desperately hoping that someone had picked it up and handed it into the lost and found, or if not that maybe it was still in the place he'd left it. His eyes flickered across a strange looking girl trying to get into the admin office, he blinked and tilted his head to one side. Her neck and face were covered in pretty little scales that reminded him of an exotic fish. He debated whether to shuffle over and help her or not, he supposed if he could get into the administration office they might know where his phone was.

"Uh.. A.. Are you alright?" He asked quietly, hunching his shoulders and rubbing the back of his neck. "I think... You have to.. Have to go to the desk." He murmured, his voice dropping a few tones. William wasn't all that great at talking to new people, but he didn't mind just pointing her in the right direction. "I.. I guess you're new?" He stammered, taking a step back and tilting his head to the side. He got the impression she was new, anyhow, due to the amount of luggage she was carrying.

"It's.. It's alright... I was new... A really long time ago." He forced a small, nervous smile, turned away and shuffled to the desk he had been talking about just a moment ago, to ask if they had seen his cell phone.</div>

Gale as happily beating her hand against the door when a young boy with long hair came up and started talking to her. She bounced a little and stared directly at him smiling. He was the first contact with a person out side of her parents she's had in Years. She ended up staring at him for several minutes till he finished saying what he wanted to say and wandered towards the desk. She thought a little more about what he said before walking over to him "I'm perfectly fine. I am new it's really weird being in such a large place. But it's also exciting right?" She looked at the desk then back at the boy. "You said I have to do something with the desk because I'm new? Do you know what? Does it have to do with getting a schedule? Or something like that?" She really had no idea what she was doing. She didn't really pay attention when she was being told what she needed to do. She was too excited by everything. And this guy just offered her information so he probably knew what she had to do. So she just asked not thinking whether he was busy or didn't want to be bugged by a random new girl.

<div align=center>William glanced back to her when she spoke again, "oh.. Yeah." He smiled a little, trying to think of some kind of direction to give her. He struggled to remember what he'd done on his first day. Signed in, got his timetable and dorm key... "You have to sign in here... Fill out some forms... It doesn't take very long." At least he didn't think it did, he didn't really recall. He turned back to the lady at the desk only to confirm that his cell phone had not been handed in. The boy's face fell, and he frowned. "Oh.. Darn it... Alright then, thanks anyway." He sighed lightly, and turned away from the desk.

This girl was evidently buzzing with excitement, he wished he felt the same way about school. She was evidently younger than him, though he couldn't have said how much by, one or two years perhaps, maybe even more. William wasn't really all that busy, he was merely looking for his phone. "You might wanna ask for a map, too..." He added, quietly. The school was big, he still struggled rather desperately to navigate his way around it half the time. He'd worked out a specific route to get where he was going now though, and it worked most of the time. He could get from his own room to everywhere he needed to go, which was a good thing, he supposed. "I guess it's exciting... I was... Just kinda nervous when I first came here..."</div>

Gale grabbed all of the paper work passed her way and stared at it. She pulled at her ear a little and worked to remember what the letters meant. As she concentrated on very slowly reading and writing out the forms she started to forget that the boy who had helped her was there. She didn't register his presence again till she finished the first page and he was talking about how he was nervous his first day. "Oh so being scared's normal? Cause wow being in such a large weird place full of so many people is pretty scary." She said grinning with camaraderie. She started filling out the papers a little bit faster as she remembered how to read and write, something she's barely done since she started changing all those years ago. It's so fantastic finally being able to do things her parents banned her from doing for so long.

"There done!" She exclaimed as she finished the last form. The boy was right there was barely and paper to fill out and didn't take that long at all. "Um so now that I finished here what do I do? Oh do I get to go to my dorm? Meet my roommate?! I've never had a roommate. I can't wait till we become best buds!" She grinned her to her for a second before getting a look of confusion on her face. "Um do you know where the dorms are? This place is huge and so easy to get lost in."

<div align=center>William nodded when asked if being scared was normal, at least, he thought it was. Though then again, everything scared him. More or less everything, anyway. William had an awfully nervous disposition, he jumped at the smallest things and freaked out over everything. People were scary, this girl seemed like she was alright though, she seemed to be struggling with word and letters, but she seemed to know how to write. William guessed that perhaps she hadn't written anything in a little while. His eyes flickered back to her scales again, they glimmered when they caught the light, and it made him stare. "I.. I like your scales." He stammered, a coy little smile crossing his features, "they're pretty." He rather wanted to touch them, but he thought that would be a bit rude.

William had only really recently gotten a room mate, he was still terribly nervous about it though. At least she wasn't very threatening, he'd chosen to room with a girl rather than a boy, due to the fact that boys rather frightened him more often than not. They were far more intimidating than girls, which was why Bill tended to be drawn closer to the female kind more often than the male kind. "I can help you find the dorms!" He chirped, he knew where those were, at least.</div>

Gale had been filling out the forms and hadn't seen him nod in affirmation about being scared in new surroundings. But even with out his confirmation she didn't care. But she heard when he complimented her scales and is shocked her. She froze and stared at him her face red a blue with blush. She had never been complimented on her scales before, ever. Her parents never really said anything bad about them either but they also wouldn't look at them, or acknowledged they were there. She just always got the feeling that her scales were something to be ashamed of. But here it seemed to be different. This boy wouldn't stop starring at them and he liked them, he called them pretty. She finally everted her eyes and touched the scales on her cheeks, they felt hot from the blood rushing to the surface. after a second she realized she needed to thank him for the compliment so she said, "T-thank you, no ones said that before." She looked back up and her blushing calmed down when he said he could help her find the dorms, her bashful expression being replaced by glee. "Oh that would be great! It's awesome that I ran into you I'd be entirely lost otherwise!" She said bouncing on her heels.

<div align=center>William couldn't understand why no one had complimented her on them before, they were pretty. She didn't have to wear fancy jewelry or clothes, he thought, not with all those pretty scales. William wished he had something pretty like that, he was frequently complimented over his face or his hair but he usually just shook his head and frowned. He took compliments badly more often that not, he was terribly self-conscious for the most part, and it showed in a lot of his actions. He felt safe around some people though, some people could make him smile a lot easier than others could, and he liked those people best. "Never?" He asked, tilting his head to the side, "why not?"

William supposed it was lucky, though there were a lot of other students around that were as friendly as he was, it was more William's inability to be horrible to anyone that made him want to at least try and help out- besides, this girl was awfully sweet. She wasn't scary at all. He hoped she got a nice room mate, she was awfully friendly, he thought she'd be able to get along nicely with whoever she roomed with. "I only recently got a room mate... She's really nice though, I get nervous about people a lot... But she isn't scary at all."</div>

Gale had no idea how to answer her question. She was sure her up bringing was not what was normal no matter how much her parents tried to convince her otherwise, even to the extreme of not letting her read or watch T.V. or use the internet. She didn't even know what the internet was. All she was allowed to do was paint and swim in the middle of the night in their small pool. And her only interaction with people were her parents who hated everything that set her apart from normal people. They hated her scales, and her fins, and her gils and even her need for water. But they loved her so they tried to make her feel normal and loved and tried not let on that they hated so much about her but she new. And right then she let a little of the pain she felt because of it show on her face before smiling sweetly. "I don't know I guess no one really felt like they were pretty enough to tell me." She touched her face scales one more time before moving on from this subject, talking about her scales was suddenly a very undesirable topic.

"Whats it like living with someone? do you guys talk and have fun and play games? Are you two best friends?" She asked wanting to know what it was like to have a room mate really badly. It has to be fun since living alone is so boring.

<div align=center>William sensed the sudden, uncomfortable vibe flowing off the girl, and suddenly felt rather guilty. Perhaps that was a sensitive subject for her? He cleared his throat awkwardly, and ran a hand through his hair, slightly stuck on what to say next. Should I apologize? He asked himself, shaking his head just a little. She didn't need to know that he'd felt that, his powers made him just about as uncomfortable as her scales evidently did. He was glad when the conversation subject changed, unwilling to push the girl to talk any further about that, William wasn't the kind of person to push things on something when they were evidently feeling upset about it.

He had to think about that question, giving her a little shrug in reply. "Not best friends just yet..." He answered, slowly. "My real best friend is a lot of fun, though..." He told her with a nod. "I talk and have fun and play games with him?" He tilted his head to the side, pausing and glancing over to her. Those two weren't strictly room mates, but they spent so much time together they might as well have been. "He's a lot of fun." The boy chirped, his voice picking up a slightly excitable sort of tone.</div>
