Fuyu No Mori

Fuyu is much smaller than children normally in her age and she is about the size and have a build of a 7-year-old(about 120cm;3.9ft). Fuyu has grown during her life, though only a little, and will probably be quite short when she matures.
Fuyu was made originally from snow so the expression she was made with is stuck on her face. Fuyu is always expressionless, even when she’s laughing or happy or even crying. Her face is round and quite pale with reddened cheeks. Fuyu’s has a small button nose and large, round eyes that are dark blue. Her eyebrows are two little oval dots over her eyes. Fuyu’s body is also round and her hands and feet are quite small. Fuyu’s body in androgynous and she has no genitalia, but she likes to identify as a girl.
Fuyu usually wears simple dresses that have long sleeves and reach her knees. She very much likes lace and other girly things and will sometimes wear a bonnet on her head.

Fuyu is quite the happy and expressive child even though she doesn’t have expressions. Her voice is soft and sunny, and her eyes are more expressive than most people’s faces. Fuyu loves to talk and laugh and sometimes it’s eerie how she just blabs on with a happy voice or laughs breathlessly and her face is completely blank.
Fuyu is emotional and gets upset, sad and frustrated easily. And when Fuyu is any of those things she starts to cry. Fortunately, Fuyu also recovers fast with a hug or a pat on the head and some encouraging words. Fuyu loves warmth and body heat and when she likes someone she wants to burrow into their lap all the time.
Fuyu is not shy and will right away trot to a new person and introduce herself. But if someone is mean or rude to her it will take some time for her to give them a second chance. Fuyu can really hold a grudge.
Though Fuyu doesn’t have expressions she is adorable, and her demeanour is quite disarming to many. You just want to pinch her cheeks and snuggle her, which Fuyu will gladly allow. She enjoys attention.
Fuyu doesn’t like other children or preteens that much and has an innate distrust towards them. All the years she had to bear being bullied by people her age left their mark and it requires a lot for Fuyu to actually enjoy spending time with people close to her age.
As a child Fuyu doesn’t really have a filter and says whatever is on her mind. She is also quite adept at white lies and she is good at deceiving people with her blank face, even when she doesn’t mean to. But Fuyu never lies about anything big, she mainly just tells stories that she made up as true.
Fuyu is anger is truly a sight to see. Of course, it won’t show on her face but her eyes turn icy, her voice becomes low and menacing and the air around her chills. She looks like a different person, like she is ancient. What makes Fuyu angry is usually any kind of insulting mention about her expressionless face.
Fuyu hates loneliness and she feels depressed and sad if she doesn’t have people around her. Silence and peace make her think about things she doesn’t want to think and that’s why she wants to drown her unwanted thoughts in the chatter of other people.

Fuyu is a yuki warashi, who are children made from snow and brought to life by the wishes of the couple that made them. Normally yuki warashis only stay alive during winter and wither away when spring comes, only to come back when winter arrives again. Fuyu’s case was different and she doesn’t wither away in spring and has some special abilities.
Immortality: Yuki warashis do not have a known limit to their lifespans and for all anyone knows Fuyu could live forever if she does not get killed.
Cold Immunity: Fuyu is immune to cold and is incapable of freezing to death. But she is also weak towards heat and during especially hot days she cannot even go outside. Another side-effect of this is that Fuyu can only eat and drink things that are lukewarm or cold or otherwise she burns her tongue.
Expressionless: Fuyu’s face is forever frozen in blank expression and it is completely impossible for her to make any sorts of expressions.
Snow Sculpting: If Fuyu sculpts something small from snow, like a bug or a mouse, it comes to life for a small period. The time frame is usually around 10 minutes. This power only works during winter and makes Fuyu tired.
Miscellaneous: Fuyu’s body is skin and bone but her body heat is somewhere around 30°C. In winter she looks healthier and is plump but as spring arrives she loses some weight and loses the glow from her cheeks. She doesn’t feel bad in spring, only looks like it. Apart from these things and her powers Fuyu is a normal 10-year-old with a child’s mentality.

Happy Aura: When Fuyu gets happy or glad enough she will radiate a visible aura that infects people around her with positive feeling. The aura looks like a soft glow around Fuyu. The aura is pretty weak and will not force person to become happy, it only mellows the current mood they’re in. The aura's range is about one meter.
Cold Bringer: When Fuyu gets really mad the air around her gets around 2-5°C colder and her bare skin’s touch causes frost to form on inanimate objects, not on living things. If this happens afterwards Fuyu falls asleep and won’t wake up for few hours. This power's range is about two meters.

Once there lived an older Japanese woman who had strong magic. But she didn’t know this and lived her life normally, with her husband. They were childless and unable to have any and so it went that the woman’s husband died, leaving the woman a widow.
The woman was lonely, so very lonely, and she remembered a story her mother had once told her. She went outside one October night and built a child from snow. The woman wished with all her heart for a child, for someone to care for and love. The woman wished so greatly that, unintentionally, she transferred her own magic powers to the snow child, giving it life.
Fuyu awakened 24 hours after the old woman had made her. She went to the woman’s door, knocked and the old woman opened the door, not believing her eyes but happy beyond belief. She took Fuyu into her home and gave her the name Fuyu No Mori.
The woman and Fuyu loved each other like real parent and child. Fuyu was, at the beginning, the size of a toddler but she was able to help the old woman with chores and the woman took care of Fuyu the best she could.
But the old woman had limited time. The magic that coursed through her had been the reason for her long life but transferring nearly all of it to Fuyu had weakened her and shortened her life. The woman knew her time was getting close, but she told nothing to Fuyu, she wanted to keep the child happy. And then one morning Fuyu woke up to eat breakfast and she couldn’t get her mother to wake up. They had spent together two short, but happiness filled years.
Fuyu did as the old woman had instructed and called the authorities. Fuyu told them she was an abandoned child and the woman had taken her in, like the old woman had informed her to tell important people. So Fuyu was passed on to child protective services and into the system.
Fuyu spent a long time in the system, bouncing from one orphanage to another. She was teased a lot because of her face and hair and though Fuyu was naturally happy and cheery she had a lot of tough times. Fuyu caused a lot of trouble and though her powers showed themselves a few times bit they were always dismissed as something else. Until one day at winter, in yet another orphanage, Fuyu was being teased at school and the bullies made her so angry she froze their clothes and the ground around her. Right after doing so Fuyu fell into deep sleep where she stood. Fuyu was seen by many children and by a couple of teachers as well. No one could figure out an explanation for what happened.
Fuyu was sent home and assigned a week of house arrest. During that week a scout from the academy came to talk to Fuyu, to tell her there was a place for someone like her where no one would tease her, and she would be accepted. Fuyu, who was already sick of bullies and other children in general, basically leaped into the scout’s arms and begged them to take her away. Fuyu had just recently turned 10.
Now Fuyu has been in the academy about half a year and she absolutely loves it. Everyone and everything is so weird, and she feels right at home.
