The nervous sounds coming out of Kadasha worried Junchi. He thought they were both having fun, but how could scaring her be fun? He was tempted to shape-shift right then to tell her he was sorry, yet right when he was preparing himself, she started giggling. It took him a couple of seconds realize her laughs were not from nervousness or fear but genuine enjoyment. Junchi would have giggled too if he could, but all he was only capable of making a soft, purring, clicking sound. The shaking still worried him, but it must not have been bad if she was happy. In fact, Junchi remembered that sometimes he would shake with excitement. He did that less nowadays, but it came up once in a while.

Laying himself down, he waited for her to get off so he could return to his cervitaur form. A part of him wanted to stay like this. To keep having her rest her head against his fur. He missed that. Back home, physical touch was much more common. On Manta Carlos, he could not hug people or try to pet them without getting weird looks or being lectured about how the invasion of someone's bubble is wrong. It was the first time he heard about how everyone had a bubble, and he was still confused about how they worked. If he tried to get others to pet him or hold his hand, they would snatch their hand back and distance themself from him. It was refreshing to know that Kadasha was comfortable enough with him to do something as small as this.

Kadasha didn't have a lot of physical contact at home. Well, not anymore. There was a time where the whole family would be in for a big hug, but something had changed. They had changed. They started fighting, shouting, and began ignoring each other. And then Kadasha was just left to herself after a point. It hurt her so much back then. She felt unwanted, and perhaps that was the truth.

Still, feeling a body of warmth in between her arms felt so refreshing. She was a bit sad when Junchi lowered himself. That meant that the ride was over, but she still had fun.

Shay jumped down first to catch the child in case she fell, but she was surefooted enough to not have any accidents dismounting her new friend.

Friend...

"Th-thank you," she'd say quietly with a shy smile.

Junchi had a wide smile on his face after he returned to his four-legged form. Something Kadasha would have been able to see if he did not wear that mask all the time. His clothes adjusted themselves to whatever form he took anyway, so there was no glimpse to be seen either if it almost fell off. Junchi was good at smiling with his eyes, however. Even with them apparently being closed, people said they looked cat-like and happy. Like he was always giving an optimistic expression. It was one of the features he was proudest of.

"Why thank you? We're just playing. Oh, anyways, did you have fun? I had fun! I need to go home soon, but I don't want to leave you if I... uh... scared you..." A nervous, somewhat embarrassed giggle escaped Junchi. It was a silly question when she had a small smile on her face, but smiles could be faked. His species taught him that well. That was why he had to make sure everything was okay with him and Kadasha.

Kadasha nodded at the shapeshifter. "Mhm! I had fun too!" There was no trace of a lie in her words. This had been the most fun she had ever since waking up in the hospital. It felt great, and made her feel sorry that it had to end.

Looking down shyly and with a whispering voice, she asked, "I was scared at first, but not anymore. Um... would you... visit me again?" She figured she'd go ahead and ask. Even when the answer was no, at least she wouldn't be waiting in vain.

"Good! I don't like scaring people." Junchi almost went in for a hug. That seemed the most natural. Even after learning that some of the children here (and back home) were much more fragile than him, he always felt the near-irresistible urge to run up and hug the people he liked. Even the people he disliked he would hug unless they were scary and needed to be far away from him.

Kadasha's last question confused him somewhat. Why would he not come back? They already established they had fun, which meant they liked each other and were friends. "Yeah? he said, almost as if he was questioning her. His quizzical look only added to that tone. "I'll visit again and again. I'll bring toys too, okay? What toys do you like? I need to know before I go."

He'd come back!

This made her smile even more, though she tried to hide it, her timid nature not wanting her to look silly, and maybe it inadvertently did, but she wasn't aware. She was too happy to notice.

If he'd have hugged her right then, she would no doubt have hugged him back. With her situation, that embrace from someone she liked would have been like the best thing she could have had. She missed that kind of contact, but her toy was there to stand in.

At the mention of toys, her eyes lit up with a joyous glimmer. One that Shay hadn't seen since... well... since he was given to her. It made him happy to see her like that, but... there was a longing somewhere deep inside. And a bit of worry.

Was it going to get replaced? Shay did well to hide the worry and only showed his smile and approval.

Then, Kadasha looked at him. "I like Shay... dolls? I don't know..."

"Stuffies! Plushies. Stuffed animals. Dollies. I think the other three are better. Those were the best ways Junchi had to describe what he was thinking. Some dolls were hard and smooth, but the ones he wanted to give Kadasha were soft and fluffy. Inside, there was white stuff that came out if you ripped them open. Those were the dolls he wanted. "I'll get you one of those, okay? Promise!"

Junchi paced around Kadasha excitedly. "I'm going home now! I'll bring plushies next time, okay? The soft and fluffy kind. I'll ask Arjean for theirs. Bye, Kadasha!" Junchi walked backward for a few seconds to wave Kadasha goodbye, then turned around to run off, still waving at her until she was too far for him to see.
