Ryuk loved Manta Carlos. Truly, he did- he loved everyone in it, too. It was nice to explore this entirely new place, full of opportunity, potential friends, and the like. However, he also occasionally missed the sea. He was still happy to be here, but he missed the underwater currents, the little fishes he'd run into-- there was such a beauty to the ocean that he'd grown to love after living in it for so long.

Which is why he was so happy the island had the ocean all around it, so he could effectively visit whenever he wanted. Granted, sometimes his brother would come scold him when he came there, but he didn't care right now. He wanted to jump into the waters and just play, and so he had come to visit. It was a rather warm day- for him at least- too, so the water was much appreciated in such a time.

In a surprising turn of events, Ryuk did not decide too wear his tail for this. He would have to strip his lower clothes to do so, and the beach was far more public than the lake. He didn't want people seeing any of his lower bits when he eventually transitioned back. So, he would swim with his legs. He was.. a bit clumsy with them, but it was nothing he couldn't handle. To compensate, he'd only put on a t-shirt and shorts. Swim-able clothing.

He waded into the water once he'd arrived, but only up to his knees, allowing the breeze to hit him, as well as the water. It felt.. strangely nostalgic, in a sense. He was going to have fun, today. By himself, it seemed. It was lonely, but he qould manage. Such thoughts caused him to pout regardless- just a little- taking the smile right off his face for the time being.

William soared through the air, his fiery wings blazing behind him. Each time his wings flapped, misshapen feathers fell from them and dissipated midair. He gratefully drank in the sunlight, bathing in the warm, yellow beams. It was a wonderful sensation. Birds were giving him a wide berth, but he couldn't find it in himself to care at the moment.

He briefly closed his eyes, letting the wind mess up his hair, until he realized that he was getting pretty close to the ocean. Even though he didn't really want to land, the beach was a place he had wanted to go to for a while. He angled his body downward, descending at a rapid rate. The ground quickly rushed up to meet him.

At the last second, Will righted himself and his wings caught the air. His speed decreased considerably, but that didn't stop him from faceplanting into the water as soon as he landed on the sand. As if he was a cat and not a demigod, he leapt up as quickly as possible to get back on the sand--and it was only then that he saw the boy standing there, only a few feet away.

"Um... hello there."

It hadn't been long that Ryuk had simply been standing there, taking in the environment when he heard a gently thud from nearby, causing him to squeak, softly. He hadn't really been looking at the sky all that much, and now, it seemed he probably should have- as someone had clearly just fallen from it.

Moreover, this person was now talking to him. It took a moment for the merman to fully process it, clearly still taken off guard. However, a huge smile soon graced his features as he bounded over. He had a new, potential friend to talk to! And they'd come to him this time, not the other way around! He immediately went in for a hug, being the touchy kind of person he was, as he thought to him.

"Hello," He began, letting out little happy noises, "I'm Ryuk! I'm glad you could drop by-.. are you okay? You looked like you hit the ground badly. I can make it feel better!" He couldn't help looking up at him with this.. odd sense of awe, as he took in their height difference. "You're really tall."

William watched as the boy quickly approached him. His first impression was that the boy was going to attack, but the boy had a friendly smile on his face. Nevertheless, William prepared to retaliate.

However, the boy didn't attack. William realized that the boy was about to embrace him. He dissolved his wings so that he wouldn't be burned, and ended up nearly being crash tackled. Almost immediately, this unfamiliar person began talking--except he wasn't actually talking. His words appeared inside Will's head, echoing loudly. Yet somehow, William knew it was him.

"Trust me, I'm fine... Ryuk," Will reassured him. "Really. Thank you for asking though." At the comment regarding his height, William realized that there was, indeed, a staggering difference in size.

Ryuk nearly squealed with delight as the hug wasn't pushed away or discarded- he'd been allowed to do it. What followed was some serious snuggling of the other, followed by mewls, and some giggles. He loved when people let him do this, it was.. nice.

He smiled up at the boy as he spoke, taking in every word as if it were the last thing he were to ever hear. "You're sure? Let me know if you change your mind!" He then tilted his head curiously, thinking to him, "What's your name? Are you new at all? You have pretty wings- where did they go?"

William simply stood there as Ryuk snuggled in closer, followed by noises that William assumed were contentment. The boy seemed to find such pleasure in such a simple thing, William couldn't help but chuckle. He didn't push the boy away, as his reaction was too amusing.

William was hit with a bombardment of questions, but he didn't mind at all. None of them were particularly difficult.

"Well," he began, "my name is William, but you can call me Will. I got here two days ago. And if you wanna see my wings again, you're gonna have to let go of me." He chuckled again.

Ryuk faced a real dilemma here, as he thought over what William said. On one hand, he really, really liked William's wings. On the other hand, he also really liked hugging him. His cheeks puffed out a bit as let out out a small hum, trying to piece together what the best course of action was.

He eventually nuzzled him, sighing. "Just a bit more, then I'll let go," he thought, giggling, "I don't get many willing cuddle friends. William is a nice name... it's nice to meet you." He looked up with an all too friendly smile. "Welcome to the island! I'm new too, but not that new.. I've been here a couple weeks. Are you enjoying your time here? I hope you are. A lot of the people are really nice."

William smiled brightly as Ryuk actually seemed to consider this, as if it would be a life-changing decision. He then seemed to come to a decision and sighed, but didn't let go. William wasn't sure he minded it too much. Not even his closest friends had shown him this much affection, and it was certainly pleasing for a random stranger to want to know so much about him.

It was even more pleasing the Ryuk already considered him to be a friend.

"Thank you, Ryuk," Will said. "I have been enjoying my time here, and I think I'll enjoy it even more if people are as nice as you." He genuinely meant it, too.

This Will person seemed extremely nice- it was a kindness Ryuk hadn't really experienced- at least to such an open extent- since he'd left the sea for the main lands. It wasn't that the people he'd met were rude, they just.. tended to be a bit put off by his behaviors, at first. This single moment made him feel at home for a moment as he simply allowed himself to enjoy this cuddling session, closing his eyes with a pleased hum.

Not wanting to overstay the welcome, he did pull back- only to giggle in an almost shy manner as he listened, blushing ever so slightly. Praise was always nice, as it wasn't something he was used to.

"Oh, it's nothing, really. I just like making people.. happy," He thought to him with a warm smile, "The people I've met here are very nice. They aren't as.. um. Touchy as I've been, though. I don't think many people are, though." He shrugged, bouncing lightly on his heels. "You've been extremely sweet, though.. I appreciate it."

William was thankful for the loosened embrace, but he also felt kind of empty after only a second. It had been the sort of embrace a supportive friend would give. At first, he had been put off by the sudden hug, but he had quickly welcomed it.

William smiled at the boy. "Well, I guess we already found something in common," he said. "I like making people happy, as well. In fact, I try my best to do so. It's always good to have more friends, I think."

Will let the marks on his hand glow briefly, feeling warmth run through his body. It was much different from the warmth that Ryuk provided.
