It was about 9 in the evening when Jackie slithered her way down the dorm hall, DJ deck in hand and a headset over her ears, listening to lyricless songs that made her swaying that much smoother with addition of rhythmic head bobbing. She was making her way to Bastet's dorm for a very important visit. She was careful not to knock anyone over, knowing quite well that she took up a lot more room considering she had to move from side to side to get anywhere. But that was neither here nor there. Jackie tapped on Bastet's door and called out, "Hey, Bastet! I've come for more hugs! Oh and I need to borrow your tools again." This did get some other students' attention, some looking on in surprise, meanwhile the Naga was just bobbing her head to the music on her playlist.

"One minute.", Bastet spoke from within, there was a clinking of tools clanking one another and soon the sound of what was clearly a fighting scene came to a halt. Not any second later, her steps could be heard coming closer, with her taking no further delays in opening the door. Bastet clearly had been using a few of her tools, judging by how the back of her gloves are dirty with engine grease and dust.

"You caught me in the middle of something: I was asked to fix someone's fan, that thing was a mess, I'm surprised it didn't burn up when I tested to see how bad it was. But come in, Jackie! Come in!", Bastet was indeed in a good mood, though.

Her room was... Surprisingly organized for most part. The floor before her television had a disassembled desk fan and tools laying close to it, and a familiar black cat that Bastet introduced Jackie to before just gave them a lazy glance from the couch before continuing to nap.

"They didn't clean the dust off, did they?" Without a moment's hesitation, Jackie entered the dorm room and looked around for space where she could settle, but not before uttering a "Hey there kitty!" at the cat that was just all too content with ignoring her. She took a look at the disassembled fan and gave a nod. "I remember a fan I had in DCA that I forgot to clean even when the blades could hardly move without giving it a little push from a pencil between the grills. The plastic ring thing that kept the back attached got its treads melted and I woke up to some clicking an the smell of melted plastic." She shrugged and went over to Bastet's tools. "Do you still have those Allen keys?"

"Only superficially. The motor had too much dust built up.", Bastet did notice Gacha's lack of interest on Jackie. Then again, cats do cats things... "Urgh, the smell of melted plastic. One of the worst things to wake up to. But anyways, Allen Keys... Yes, have them.", she was sure quick to spot the Allen keys set once asked, promptly passing it to Jackie. "I wonder what it was like in DCA. Same things as SLA?", Bastet would soon sit down on the floor to resume the fan repair and beckon Jackie to join her.

She looked at the Allen keys and picked out the three sizes she needed to open up her deck. She sat down next to Bastet, coiling in a way that made herself her own table to put her instrument down on, but far enough away that she wouldn't worry about accidentally jabbing Bastet in the side or knocking down the fan if she had to move with the deck. "Mmm... More or less, though definitely more magic classes. Alchemy. Botany. Conjuration. Uh... what was that other class called... They taught how to make familiars, a bit different from Conjuration. Right now, the lines are blurred, but back then, DCA was big on magic and less on the mundane stuff." She took off the front panels of her deck one by one and neatly put them in a pile beside her, using a plastic cover from one of the panels to hold the bolts. With the guts exposed, there was a surprising lack of dust, save for the ones that had clumped on the edges, blown that way with air from a leaf blower.

"I see you had a lot more of variety there. Most of my life I was part of the Narrow Reality, having a mundane life... Almost, that is.", Bastet didn't need to tell Jackie why it was an "almost", given she already brought up at a previous meeting that she was born cold-blooded, unable to properly regulate her own temperature naturally and having to resort to snacks that warmed her up.

Bringing a tube of engine grease open, she began to apply the new grease on the fan's motor, after it has been cleaned. "Most of the magic I earned was in Narrow Reality, from a mystical artifact containing essences. Managed to find one here in Manta Carlos, following a treasure map.", as she finished speaking, her eyes went to the television for a moment. It was paused at a scene of Kamen Rider Build, the fight between Hazard Build and Grease.

Jackie nodded along. She knew Bastet had been from the Narrow Reality, but didn't know how she actually got her powers. Until that moment, she had always thought she was part of those human mage clans or something. "No shit? Heh, I guess cartoons can sometimes be realistic, then." She was surprised that an artifact was involved. Even more when she had a thought where finding random artifacts usually meant curses or possession, if TV shows were to be trusted. "I guess that makes sense that you'd find a treasure map that leads to something good, since this island was home to pirates." She was looking at Bastet when her eyes flicked back to the TV screen, and Jackie's eyes glanced towards it as well. "Power Rangers?" Her eyes squinted a little, and her hand shot up, holding up one finger at the side of her head. "Wait, don't tell me, this isn't Power Rangers, but it's pretty similar, right?"

"My fellow in the Narrow Reality are also tracking other Essences while I'm here. Apparently they are all around the world. And there's also the living Essence that is Gacha there.", at Bastet's word, the cat's ear perked up and she gave a tiny meow.

Watching Jackie guess the show, she couldn't help but snicker a little. "Well, Power Rangers is based on Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, but this isn't the Super Sentai show, no. Yes, similar, but not same. This is Kamen Rider Build, part of the Kamen Rider series. westerners received something similar by another studio, which was Masked Rider Black. Never watched that one though.", Bastet unpaused the video and let the epic battle continue.

"That's one hell of a scavenger hunt." And probably important. Unless she was just power hungry, but she didn't give off that kind of vibe in Jackie's perspective. She looked at the cat when Bastet mentioned that it was an essence too. "Really now? What does it do? Aside from sleeping all day without a care and being adorable." Her attention returned to the show when it got unpaused, and she watched the fight unfold. "Masked Rider Black? The West got the boring named one." She'd chuckle as she turned her attention back to her deck, unscrewing one of the boards to check if everything was in order. "Ah nuts... a capacitor's bloated. Hey, do you know anything about soldering?"

"Gacha is a funny story: She just appeared in my shadows someday and started following me around. Literally just appeared behind me. Not only that, but she's also protective and you don't want to see her angry.", Bastet chuckled with the creepiest smirk.

"Hm? I do know about soldering, yes. Don't do much though. Ah. The soldering station is in my bedroom, on the desk. Could you please get it for me, Jackie?", for some reason, after she said that Gacha has got up and was looking at Jackie intently. Should Jackie go into the bedroom, she'd notice Gacha come out from under the bed, literally from nowhere.
