"Thank you," Mir said to Zora as they took both of the skewers for KirMir, "Though we can share between our two bodies if the purpose is just to taste the foods." Then without anything further they held one of the skewers horizontally and tool a large bite of the corn and topping.
While Mir was chewing Kir continued paying attention to the women and soon remarked, "They are spicy but not to the point of being uncomfortable and the lime is delicious." After a minute or so Mir handed the other skewer to Kir and they continued eating. It seemed like they had waited for something to happen before allowing the other body to also eat the food.
KirMir considered all the things they could have asked the women about and finally came to a decision about what they should ask first. Mir stopped eating to voice their query. "How does making friendships usually work? We are experiencing difficulty in forming those types of social bonds. Do they always require a sacrifice such as you purchasing those corn cobs for us?" It was likely a very unexpected question but KirMir had been realizing that without friends they were going to become isolated. Back where they came from that was the best way to protect themselves from emotional trauma but here it seemed they would have to change that way of thinking.
