It was his lunch break, and as usual, Carmin ended up heading out to find somewhere to read. It was sunny out, so he chose the courtyard today. After the events with the long night, he'd been trying to stay in the sun as much as possible. With winter rapidly approaching, there was no telling how much longer he'd have the privilege of reading outside too.
He stopped at the first unoccupied bench, tossed his backpack up and then did the same with his body. Then he rummaged around inside and pulled out a book. He started reading, and continued contently for the next few minutes, until the book ended. At that point, he didn't really have anything else to do. So, he just sat there, stared at the blank page at the end of his book and pretended he was reading. It would take too long to go to the library and take out another book and then come back, so there wasn't much else to do in his eyes.
