Jen was floating, sometimes sinking, on and under the glassy water of the lake. It wasn't glassy at first, but she wanted it smooth, so she made it that way. She sunk under and started swimming, her head bobbing up here and there for breath...
Simon jogged up to the lake, smiling as he gazed out over the water. He saw something moving, and came closer to see that it was a girl swimming. He glanced around to see if anyone ese was with her, but to his surprise she was alone. But not for long he thought with chuckle.
He walked up to the waters edge and called out, wondering if she'd hear him under the water, 'Hey, mind if I join you?'
Jen surfaced hearing the voice and what it said. She paled and swallowed. "Well... y-yes.. No! I m-mean n-no.." she sighed inwardly. I am such an idiot, I can't even talk right! Why was I born to be stuttery? she thought, closing her eyes.
Simon smiled and quickly took off his shirt and leapt into the water. Resurfacing, he turned to float on his back and paddled over to the girl like this. 'So, what brings you to the lake on this fine day?' he asked, flashing a smile. 'And alone too, isn't there some safetly rule that says you should never swim alone?' He sighed and shook his head in mock disappointment. 'Well, I suppose I'll just have to stay and keep an eye on you.' He chuckled, 'The names Simon, by the way.'
Jen stared at the boy. "Well, I-I came out h-here and n-no one else w-was here and I-uh-I wanted to swim... T-thanks, I-er-I'm Jen." she sighed in her head. Why am I such a stuttery fool? He is so cool, while I'm over here, taking five minutes to say a little 'hello'.
Sliding under the water for a few moments, he came back up and shook the water from his hair. 'Are you knew?' he asked, swimming around in a small circle. He could tell she was nervous so he didn't look at her face when he asked this, hoping it would make her feel less pressured. 'And then, of course, there is the all-too common question: What are your powers?''
Jen kept her eyes on the water in front of her. She felt all eyes off her and startedeto reply. "Yes. I have control over water, and on some occasions can turn into it." she said, trying not to stutter and succiding (<Sp?)
Caitlin was walking by the lake on her way to the cafeteria when she saw her boyfriend, Simon, in the water talking to a new girl. For a second, she was jealous, but she quickly shook it off. For once in her life thankful she had just had swimming in PE, she stripped off her bathing suit cover and slipped into the water. "Hey Simon!" She called out. "I'm Caitlin." She said to the new girl, as she began treading water.
'Ah, that would explain why your at the lake, wouldn't it. And also why it's so unnaturally smooth.' He looked out across the water, it's galssy top shimmering. Glancing to her and smiling he said, 'Want me to leave? I will if you like.' he turned onto his back once more and continued his circles, gazing into the sky.
((He has a girlfriend? I thought all relashonships(<Sp?) had to reset... >< I'm thrown way off now...))
Jen swallowed. "You don't have to go.. I-I'm just a b-bit shy..." she said, trying to act like she had done this a million times.
