There were times that Aternity listened to others. His wife on matters of food, drink and medicine. His nephew when it came to music, and maybe his subordinates when they had discovered that electrical shocks were actually quite painful. That last one was forced unfortunately...screaming was very difficult to tune out. But then there were others that Aternity always listened to, no matter how much they knew or otherwise.
That someone in this case was Cytus, although the same case could be made for his daughter as well.
An alien from a star well over 7,000 light years away had made their way to Earth, entrusting their body and knowledge to the Awren pair. Even Tourmaline had made friends with the being. Frankly, she was remarkable, and held knowledge that Ternie was still just beginning to study. And yet, many advances had already been made from what she knew. The quartermaster was only so happy to oblige in listening to whatever she had to say.
And today, she mentioned another extraterrestrial, this time in distress. Aternity was only too obliged to help, and left his post at the office to make his way to the beach, hefting a toolkit and otherwise. Cytus had come with him, mentioning a ship of some sort hidden under the water, and that whoever piloted it would come and get them. But after fifteen minutes, he was quite honestly getting anxious. It was a reasonably warm day, and the mage did not want to stay out in the sun any longer than necessary.
"I thought you said the pilot would meet us here."
"Please be patient, Mr. Awren, I believe we are slightly early due to your eagerness."
All too true, fortunately or unfortunately. The engineer wanted to get to work.
