Selkiris waited patiently for his first student, Noah, to arrive at his house for his first lesson with magic. Was Selkiris really ready to handle teaching students the ways of magic? To be completely honest Selkiris wasn’t sure himself if he was ready. However it was too late to turn back now.

Selkiris pulled out a very old looking pocket watch and checked the time. He had already checked and double checked that he gave Noah his address. Now all there was to do was wait.

Soon Selkiris' doorbell rang as the young mage arrived at his home. Once he opened the door he would be greeted with a young teenager, draped in a white magister's cloak. His facial expressions were minimal but all of the nervousness and excitement of his higher learning could be seen with one glance into his eyes, "Are you Selkiris?" He questioned the hooded man before politely bowing in greeting.

"My name is Noah, I look forward to learning from you." He introduced himself but soon sought entry so as to begin his lessons.

Selkiris quickly made it to the door, opening it for his very first student. They were certainly eager, that much he could tell. Selkiris bowed as well out of politeness. “Hello Mr. Noah. Please come in and make yourself at home.” Selkiris guided Noah deeper into the house, right to the living room couch. “Please take a seat.”

Selkiris quickly moved into the kitchen, bringing back a tea set into the living room. He poured a cup for himself, but hesitated to pour one for Noah. “Would you like some tea Noah? Oh and I should probably ask what you desire from this tutoring Mr. Noah.”

Noah calmly entered the home his eyes darting about the home as he entered. He had never really been inside the dwelling of another Mage before so his curiousity was peaking at just how much latent magical artifacts and spells were active in the home. Once He was offered tea he'd return his attention back to his soon to be teacher.

"Tea sounds lovely, Thank you." He responded in an equally polite tone. Upon asking his desire he would pause for a moment to think to himself before finally answering, "I simply seek to learn as much magic as humanly possible. Well, that is the long term goal..." He spoke before pausing once more then looking back to his teacher, "My short term goal for now is to learn healing magic...A friend of mine has a horribly burned face from her past. I can tell it bothers her and I wish to remedy it." He explained calmly, his gaze drifting downwards. He clearly had been thinking about this alot, "I also wish to help the people of this island with any sort of magical infliction I can...But that is something to do as I study."

Selkiris poured Noah a cup of tea and listened carefully to what he had to say. Selkiris was less than pleased with Noah’s long term goal, but his mood improved after hearing his short term goal. “That is a good reason to learn healing magic. Helping people is what the magic is designed for. As for your long term goal....just make sure not to lose your humanity while you do it.” Selkiris sounded as if he knew from experience. He sipped his tea and got back up, moving to one of his many bookshelves.
He slid out three hefty books from the shelf and brought them back to the table. “These three books are all about the art of healing. While I can certainly teach you, a big part of magic is truly understanding it. That is where the books come in.”

Noah quirked a brow at his expressed experience with losing his humanity. He'd open his mouth to ask but quickly decides against it as it seemed somewhat personal. Instead he would lift up the cup of tea and sips some of it down. Once the three books were presented to him his eyes lit up just a bit in excitement, "I would much prefer to study them myself. So this is fine...thank you." He nodded in gratitutde towards his teacher.

Noah would open one of the three books presented to him and promptly began his study right then and there. Subconsciously he was used to just starting whenever he pleased by soon caught his rude action. Not stopping but instead choosing to interact with his teacher while he studied, "Selkiris, if you don't mind me asking...why are you choosing to teach people magic if you are afraid of the possibility of them losing their humanity." He questioned, looking over the rim of one of the tomes to question the hooded figure.

Selkiris nodded silently and let Noah begin to read his books. Everyone trained differently so if he desired to read the books first then so be it.

When Noah asked his question, Selkiris paused for a moment to try and figure out an answer. There were plenty of answers he could have given to Noah, but he thought it was best to give the least complex one. “Well to put it simply, I’m teaching students so they don’t lose their humanity.”

"Hmm, I see." He responded though considering he had his nose in a book it would likely be hard to tell if he were speaking to himself or responding to the question. He'd fall silent for a few moments as Noah wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed socially, he wasn't sure what to say next.

He would then lower his book and look to Selkiris, "Did you lose your humanity? What are you now?" He questioned quizzically. He had just figured the hood was just to show his prowess as a Mage. Finding Mages covered in them wasn't hard. Even Noah himself bored a white cloak and sometimes wore the hood. But now he was curious about his new magic teacher.

It may have come off a bit rude but his curiousity was genuine and pure. He didn't seem scared, more intrigued than anything.

Selkiris suddenly seemed to zoom through his entire life as Noah asked that question. Despite all that happened Selkiris could never call his life terrible, actually it was a pretty good life. The only bad time he truly remembered however....was something that overshadowed most of his life.

“I’d rather not go into my story in-depth. It’s long and frankly I’d rather not say it. What I will say is I made a deal with an ancient being for knowledge...that in the end was useless. When I cut ties with it I became what he was, an Outer God, and Eldritch.” Selkiris took of his hood, revealing his deathly pale face and his black veins. Selkiris looked at Noah “I was extremely lucky with my outcome. I stared a thing no man should see in the face and lived to tell the tale. I don’t want others to try the same thing. For they will likely face a worse fate.”

Noah stared at his teacher as he revealed himself to him. Black veins and Pale Face, an Eldritch. That's when it clicked that he was being taught magic by an Outer God. The Barrier Mage simply nodded though his face was still somewhat filled with confusion and intrigue, "Lucky indeed...But do not worry. My desire for knowledge won't become so obsessive that I sacrifice myself to the Eldritch." He explained before continuing his study calmly.

"I do not trust humans, I certainly will not entrust some being I cann't begin to understand." He explains turning the page in one of the books, "I did say as 'humanly' possible, after all...no offense." He pointed out now realizing that may have come off harsher than he intended.
