That wonderful gent over there
Cirro thought his arrival was abrupt, but from what he understood, it sounded like Chloe just appeared there out of the blue. He couldn't begin to imagine how that could've happened, and how terrifying it must've been to just appear somewhere like this out of nowhere. "That must've been-" Cirro paused for just a moment as a thought passed in his head. "Really hard." He'd been having a hard time the past two days, just adjusting. He wasn't sure he'd ever be able to live comfortably on the island. But from the sound of things, Chloe had a lot more adjusting to do than he did, and there she was, still standing. She was able to deal with everything she had to face, and that fact alone was able to bring a little comfort to Cirro as he walked along.

Cirro listened closely as Chloe told him the truth about demons. He trusted her without a second thought, after all, she'd already done more than prove that she was a good person. Cirro got a much more worked up about the things that Chloe said than she did. It was probably incredibly difficult to deal with everything she was going through, and then other people were treating her poorly just for being a demon. Cirro's eyes got watery, it didn't take much for him to get moved, and the result of the few things that Chloe said were proof of that. "That's just... awful." He wiped his eyes, looking at the ground as they walked. "Why would people even do that? It's so unfair." It was one thing for people to treat Chloe poorly just because of the fact she was a demon; but to make matters worse, Cirro was beginning to look up to her, and she seemed like such a great person.

"Yeah, it did kinda suck," Chloe agreed. They were walking back to the dorms, now - from out here they were all in the same direction. "But in a lot of ways I had a better time here than where I was from. And I can understand people being afraid of us and stuff. Like on the one hand you have all those stories in the Narrow Reality off the island about demons who are basically evil personified and just want to kill you. And on the other hand, you have some people here who... basically were at war with demons before they came to the island. And even though there's a bunch of different kinds of demons that have nothing to do with each other, we all share the same label I guess."

Chloe felt like she was rambling, so she stopped herself. It was easy to get her started on this sort of thing. She also started to notice that he was crying a little, and it wasn't just the rain. "... Are you okay, Cirro?"

A better time here than where she was from? Where was she from then? Cirro didn't know if he should ask, but his expression became just a little frightened when he heard this. He hadn't met a lot of people over the years, but of the few that he did meet, he'd never seen anyone who'd faced so much adversity. He kept quiet and simply listened as she explained why people acted the way they did, he didn't want to talk at least for a little, because he knew she'd be able to tell he was on the verge of crying. The stories part made sense to him, he would've been terrified if someone announced that they were a demon to him without anything happening beforehand to make him feel safe. But the demon war was completely unheard of. He wanted to ask about it, but decided to wait a little longer.

He wanted to tell Chloe how strong she was, in the way that mattered, but it was too embarrassing to say something like that to someone he'd just met; plus, he wasn't sure how bad his face looked at this point, and he wanted to keep it facing the ground for at least a little longer. However, it turned out that there was something suspicious about suddenly becoming mute in the middle of a conversation, and Chloe ended up asking if he was okay. He stopped for a second, flinching when she asked, then slowly pulled his head up to face her again. He had tears begging to fall from the corners of his eyes, his nose was running, and his lip was still quivering, but he figured she wouldn't notice if he could pull off talking normally. He could blame it on the rain. "I, I, I'm fine." He was pretty ashamed, but he managed to make it worse by still using the rain excuse after it was already obvious. "It's just the rain..." He hadn't been exposed to much in the way of sad stories in his life. One could tell by the way he handled emotions like a five year old, that he was a pretty sheltered person with very limited life experience.

She was quiet for a little while, at first thinking it might be best to try not to acknowledge that he was crying. Lots of boys seemed to think having emotions or crying was bad.

Chloe reconsidered her approach after a second. She put a gentle hand on his back. "You know... even if you were crying, hypothetically, there wouldn't be any shame in that. I've done my share of crying. I wouldn't think any less of you. A lot of us have gone through some tough stuff. But... I mean, of course this is all... hypothetical talk. You know."

The thin veil of 'this is hypothetical' was starting to get a little bit silly, because they both knew that he had been crying, and he knew that she knew. She wanted to giggle at herself, but she tried not to. He might not know that she was only laughing at herself.

As far as Cirro was concerned, she actually bought it. Certain things went right over Cirro's head, this was one of them. He didn't think he had much in the way of acting skills, but it seemed like he'd actually managed to pull it off. Despite ripping out a killer acting job, he still managed to take a little delight in what she had said. There was no way he could rely on his stellar acting forever, so it gave him comfort knowing that Chloe didn't have a problem with him crying. He sniffled and wiped his eyes, suddenly in a good mood again.

He felt much more comfortable around Chloe after that, he almost felt as if he could be open around them. He'd always lacked friends, so he'd never felt that way before, it was nice. He suddenly had the confidence to tell Chloe what he thought. "You know what, I don't know a whole lot about demons and all that stuff, but you're a really great person." It wasn't much, but it was actually a huge achievement for him. He always had good things to say about people, but he'd never actually worked up the courage to tell them. The comfortable feeling he felt, it was like he was safe, both from danger and to be himself, it was wonderful.

She was a great person? "Heh, thanks. I try." Maybe she was just getting lucky, coming up with just the right thing to say in this situation. If only she could pull that off around Amber and her sisters when she needed to.

They were getting closer to the school buildings, now. "So, which dorms are you staying in? High school or College?" That would dictate which direction they would take from here. A part of her started worrying that he would take offense. Maybe he was actually a college student, and he would resent her thinking he could be a high school student.

"Oh, I haven't started yet, but they put me in the college dorms for now." He was actually going to be starting college after the summer, since he'd already finished high school back home, and the school year was so close to ending. Cirro didn't think anything of the fact that Chloe was unsure if he was in high school or college. Cirro was very odd in the ways he got upset, certain things got to him, while others would often go unnoticed.

The campus was still confusing to him. He couldn't even remember where he left the dorms from. He hoped that eventually he'd be able to get around normally, but for the time being, he was left with only his sense of direction, and from what he understood, he must've broken that at some point. "How long does it usually take to be able to get around, like know where you're going and how to get places?" He felt out of place no matter where he was here, he just hoped that it was going to pass eventually.

"Well, the first things I figured out were the library and the dining hall and a couple of friends' dorms," she said. "It's probably a lot easier if you aren't taking classes immediately. I got lost a lot when I started classes, but by the end of that first week I had it figured out, I think. Until the next school year started." It was always disorienting to get used to her new classes every year. This school could feel like a maze to her sometimes.

They were heading towards the college dorms now. He would probably be able to find his specific room - surely he would remember that much.

"Um... after we get you squared away here, by the way, I was thinking of studying up in the library. Did you want me to show you there?"

The way Chloe explained it was just a little relieving. It appeared that getting lost was just a new person thing, and as soon as he'd had a week or two to figure things out, he'd be able to find his way around just fine. "Well that's a bit of a relief to hear. I sure hope you're right." As he said this, they got to a spot that he remembered, and he smiled gleefully.

Getting to see the library sounded really nice. Cirro wanted to go there, but wasn't quite sure where it was or if he'd be able to find a way back. With Chloe showing him the way, he hoped that wasn't going to be a problem. "That'd be great actually!"

From the place they were at, Cirro had very little trouble finding his way to his room. He made a wrong turn at one point, and started heading in a completely different direction, which could have been a little concerning for Chloe, but eventually he made it to his room. "Aha! Found it!" He was almost surprised himself that he'd found his way back. "I'm just going to change clothes, I will just be a second.

He went in and changed into a dry set of clothes, throwing the wet ones onto a hanger to dry. He looked in the mirror before heading out, taking notice of the blue in his hair starting to fade to brown. It looked like the rain was almost over. "Okay, ready to go!" He chimed as he stepped out of the room.

Chloe just waited outside while he changed. She checked her phone, and by the time Cirro came out of his room, she had blocked two anti-demon bigots on twitter. She didn't realize that he was being serious, sounding so delighted to find his own room.

"Much better," Chloe told him. "At least, I'd imagine it would be. I'd hate to sit around in the library wet. With the AC they have in there in the summer, you might freeze."

When Chloe looked out the window at the end of the hallway, they both learned that the rain had picked up a lot. Chloe stopped and frowned. "Um... I don't suppose you have an umbrella in your room?"
