Arno would step into the court yard, his breath fogging in the cold winter air. This was the location where he was to meet his secret santa partner. The half dragon would check his phone to make sure he wasn't to early, then checking the gift in the bag he held.

While him and his parents had celebrated Christmas he'd never given a friend a gift before, let alone a stranger. He was determined to meet new people, make friends, so here he was, waiting on the mysterious person. @Keen

This was Sela's first Secret Santa. The moment they heard of the concept, they knew they had to be part of it. Trading gifts with a stranger? The possibility of making a new friend? Whatever Sela got, they would love. It would have a history to it, surely. They would keep the present close to them, forever and ever.

The courtyard. The courtyard. The courtyard. Sela held the book close against their chest as they travelled towards their destination. They would have preferred carrying it inside them. It was easier. It made more sense. Why hold something in their hands if they didn't have to? But the reveal might scare away their Secret Santa. Better to give a first impression. Better to start things happy.

Sela scoured the courtyard. Someone standing around seemingly waiting. Someone with an object in hand. Someone—There! A teenage boy checking his phone and holding a bag. Sela shrunk themself to match his height and youthful features before floating towards him. "Are you the Secret Santa: Arno Thorndrake? I'm Sela."

The half dragon would look up at the floating being. "Yes," he'd smile, "hello Sela," he'd quickly put his phone away. "It's good to meet you Sela," he couldn't really tell what species Sela was, they looked unlike anything he'd ever seen.

"Its uh...the first time I've ever done this," he'd say with a smile, "haven't had the chance to give many people gifts before." Well he'd given gifts to his parents, but that was different than getting them for a stranger.

He'd offer them the bag. Inside was a large book, about the various legends surrounding the island, prented in story format with Information from people who've studied the legends. Then there was a second book, slightly smaller, used, it was one of his older books on piano music, specifically on songs written by members of the supernatural community.

When Sela finally opens the bag, they'll find all of Arno's gifts, but also something else: a small snowglobe showing a castle, surrounded by a constantly (whether Sela shakes it or not) blowing blizzard.

Sela took the bag excitedly, almost dropping Arno's gift in the process. Remembering that this was an exchange, they handed the thick book over. The cover was beautiful drawn: two white and blue dragons flying across in opposite directions. Bordering the cover were drawn depictions of thorns, shaded so there was a third-dimensional aspect to them. "It's a journal of piano music I wrote. I tried to make it as complicated and not complicated as possible for you. I saw your last name. That's why the cover looks like that."

The complexity was no exaggeration. Several pages of sheet music for an expert piano player. Sela had borrowed many piano books to study in their dimension, taking full advantage of their ability to extend time there. Once satisfied with their work, Jao and Myst helped them remove anything a two-handed, human-like creature might have trouble with. It's a gift, not torture, Jao had told them. Myst specifically helped with the translation process into a journal, so all the sheets were neat.

Okay. Not that was okay. Sela greedily took out the books. The left lower hand held the bag, the right lower hand held the large book, the left upper hand held the small book, and the right upper hand held the snow globe. Out of all of these, the snow globe with the castle stood out the most.

"I don't know if you're fae. I won't say thank you. l like this a lot. A lot a lot. I like this surprise gift too. The castle is beautiful. It must have been hard to craft if it was with hands. I should have given you more. I only gave you one present."

While less obvious, the book had one other quirk: a song inside that Sela would not recognize, titled simply étude.

He'd blink in confusion. "I.....I didn't get you a snow globe," he'd look at the mysterious item. "It is beautiful....but...I didn't get that," the half dragon was needless to say very confused.

Arno would look to his own gift, smiling as he pulled out the book. "Its beautiful," he'd say, running his hand over the cover and looking at the art. "I love it Sela, its absolutely perfect," he'd flip through the pages, "you wrote it all yourself?" He was actually really impressed, he'd wrote music, but not near as much.

The half dragon would look back to the snow globe, humming thought. "Odd thing popping up," he'd say with a chuckle.

Sela smile was still plastered to their face, but there was an increasing blankness to it when Arno stuttered out his denial of the gift. It didn't last long. Distracted by the appreciation of their gift, their smile was renewed with life. With their rainbow eyes curving upward, they said, "I'm happy you think so. I gave myself a lot of time and tried very hard. I hope those songs will last you many Secret Santas."

They turned back to look over the globe, shaking it and watching the snow dance around the castle. Almost shyly, they pointed out, "The snow globe was in your bag. Wouldn't you have noticed it while packing? Or felt an extra weight that wasn't accounted for?"

He'd tilt his head. "You gave yourself time?" now that sounded interesting, "you have time magic?" That sounded powerful and incredible useful. "I've head of time magic, but never met anyone who had it."

The half dragon would look back to the mysterious gift. "I would have," he'd agree, "I'd have noticed it." He'd scratch at his cheek, leaning forward and poking the glass of the globe.

"Odd, very odd," he definitely didn't buy it, "well.....you got am extra gift then," he'd say with a chuckle. "Maybe someone nice teleported it into the bag?" that was the only explanation he could think of.

While not immediate, when shaken, some snowflakes would fall in the surrounding area, drifting down. Just enough to be noticable, but not enough to stick on the ground.
