The festival was in full swing, but in truth, Roland Knightkin's attention wasn't on the music or the booths, it was on the lovely ghost beside him.

Smiling he gently lifted her hand and kissed it, "you look amazing love," he smiled happily, he always enjoyed being around her, "thank you for coming with me."

The young mage had plans, something special just for her, for the girl he loved so very much.

The festival was in full swing, but in truth, Aswan wasn't focusing on the flowers, or the music, nor the food. No, it was focused elsewhere, on three things in particular:
One - the handsome, smart, kind mage who'd somehow captivated her attention from day one. The one who was currently kissing her hand, the one who had taken her to the festival in the first place, despite her weak initial protest.
Two - her own powers. How they had developed almost negatively in the past three years she'd been deceased. How they never seemed to cooperate or comply with her requests, how they only seemed to serve as a complication for further growth.
Three... Three, she pushed out of her mind, into the darkest recesses, lest it ruin the whole day. She had already complicated several of their casual meetings by manner of dragging the conversation down with baggage.
Speaking of which, their current conversation had resurfaced into her mind, and she nodded, trying her best to connect herself to the conversation and find meaning to the words that Roland had spoken.
And of course, those infernal words. Those words started, as they always seemed to, a pink blush that spread across her face like wildfire.
"Haha... I am happy to be your companion to this event." The blue blouse and the jeans she had picked for the outing seemed to look nice - a fact that made Aswan content. Had she always cared this much about clothing?
She was hyperaware of so many things now... Bringing Roland's hand closer, she pulled him into a short-lived hug. "Thank you for inviting me."

He gently hugged her back, "of course......I can't imagine going with anyone else." As the hug ended he quickly kissed her cheek, he loved this girl, more than anything.

Smiling, he reached into his light coat and pulled out a single red rose, "for you, a pretty flower for an amazingly beautiful girl." Leaning over, he gently slid the rose into her hair.

"Now, shall we walk around a bit," his plan was ready, but he thought it'd be a good idea to walk around a bit. "There seems to be a lot to do here, music, dancing," he smiled brightly.

Gratefully she broke away from the hug, a tiny smile tugging at the corner of her lips, as she again received a quick peck on the cheek. Roland was just so... sweet. She could tell he loved her, loved her a lot. And as did she, in kind... enough to stay awake at night worrying about him, night after night, about him being hurt at the hands of her powers....
She shook her head violently. No need to think of that.
Snapping her attention back to the situation at hand, Aswan remarked Roland's reach into his coat - and the single red rose he slid out, gingerly slipping it into her hair. Surely this rose is prettier than I - for certain. Still, she could not prevent more blushing from occurring.
"Roland," she laughed, gently poking the handsome mage, "you are far too kind." Interlocking her arm lightly with Roland's, she was careful to keep pace, so as not to drag her boyfriend down. Aswan nodded along with the conversation, trying to connect again.
"Yes, there is much to do here. Not only music, dancing, but also material arts, such as knitting and arts and crafts." She hoped dearly she was right - the booths around her seemed to show as much. Data, and conclusion.

He smiled brightly as they walked along, looking through the many stands, "yes, it's quite lovely, I'm happy we came." They continued on, looking at the various stands, he'd occasionally stop and quickly buy her a little something.

"There's so much," he turned to her, the smile still on his face, "they say your enjoyment of social determined by your company," leaning in close, he half whispered, "and I have the most wonderful company."

They came to the area, leading into a clearing, smiling a bit he motioned to their left, there was a table, a romantic dinner he'd set up. A circle of flowers surrounded it, "I hope you don't mind," he said giving her a smile.

At each stand they stopped at, Aswan couldn't help but admire the little baubles and such that lined and decorated each stand in every color of the rainbow and more. And as they walked along, Aswan couldn't help but admire the mage alongside her, occasionally treating her to little gifts (which she would bashfully accept with a slight blush and a playful admonishment) and the objects around her. It was like something out of the novel she had just started to read last week - a dream made reality. It almost didn't seem real....
And then she mentally steered herself to the present, to the logic of the real world. And she was being spoken to again. He was speaking to her. To her. Focus. Breathe. Do not make a mistake in pronunciation.
"It is a highly-monitored statistic in some parts of the world, where research is currently being done in that - " and then it clicked, it wasn't supposed to be a statistic. He was being romantic again. And the realization of that only made her translucent cheeks redder as she sat there thinking about it and - now she had embarrassed herself. "Ahem. You... did not mean for it to be a serious statistic. I.... I enjoy your company as well." A sheepish grin spread across her lips.
And so it stayed like that, until he pulled her closer to the clearing. Roland gestured to the left, where a table, nicely decorated for the spring weather and, in all honesty, very cutely, sat inside a ring of wildflowers, each one a subtle dusty color. The dusty pink ones that waved gently in the breeze almost matched the color of her face - a fact she was all too hurried to hide, using her (unfortunately translucent) hands as a shield...
Which, in fact, did not work very well - but she needn't have covered her face anyways; it was already doing a very nice job of disappearing entirely. "Thank you, R-Roland!" she stammered.

The smile never left his face as she blushed, her face unintentionally turning invisible, "no, thank you love, thank you for everything." Leaning in he gently kissed her cheek, or tried to sense her face was currently invisible.

Wrapping an arm gently around her waist, he lead her to the table, "I...I've been taking cooking classes," removing the lids, he revealed delicious smelling food and a chocolate cake, still warm thanks to heat charms.

In the center of the table, was a medium sized box with a small bow on it. "I got you something love," he said smiling, slightly embarrassed. Taking it, he slipped it into her hands, inside was a silver locket, containing a picture of them from their first date.

Fortunately for Aswan, her face still being invisible made it easy for her to hide her blushing - yet somehow Roland had managed to catch her near the cheek (or, well, the jawline, as the human contact had made her jump). "How did you even manage that..." in a low giggle.
With him gently leading her to the table, he uncovered the various dishes on the table - presumably made by himself? Aswan was unexpectedly proud - which, in fact, smelled delicious. And still hot, despite the obvious lack of heating trays. Perhaps he - oh. A heating charm, probably. It would explain how every dish seemed to be steaming without hot packs or barbecues or hot trays, for that matter. She'd studied them briefly in preparation for her Powers classes... Brilliant, really. She cleared her throat.
"Cooking classes?" she asked, keeping her voice in a sharp but impressed tone, raising an eyebrow. "Impressive, for a beginner." Understatement - it was really quite impressive, more than Aswan would let on.
However, that all but evaporated as she spotted the gift on the table... and the thing he took out of the box... and slipped into her hands.... It was a good thing her face was still invisible, because she just might have spaced out with a stupid grin on her face. Stupid grins.... always... being stupid? Oh. gods. Now SHE was being stupid. Aswan managed to stammer out another "thank you" before clearing her throat a few times and managing a cooler, more composed tone. "I mean. Ahem. Thank you, it's a lovely gift."

Smiling, he gently slipped the locked around her neck, "oh I should be thanking you, my time with you has been amazing." Chuckling he stole another quick kiss as he pulled back.

"And yes, the classes went well...for the most part," he pulled her seat out gentlemanly. "Either way, I made your favourites."

The young mage took his own seat, his calm smile never fading, "I hope it's all good," he grinned a bit, "thankfully no fires we're started while making it," he did cut himself, but he decided not to mention it.

This godforsaken blush! It stayed stubbornly on her face as she gingerly touched a finger to the tiny locket, shooting Roland a tiny grin. Another peck, another little buzz, and then another one as she pecked his cheek back, stifling a giggle. More buzzing as Aswan slipped her hands over Roland's, holding them - and by extension him - in place for a second, before he pulled back and draped a hand over her seat, sliding it out for her. Darn that coy little grin of his! "I do hope so," she replied to Roland's admission of the cooking classes... and probably the numerous fires he had set. That vision took her most of her willpower not to laugh at, but she managed, and gracefully sat herself down into the chair the handsome mage had pulled out for her.
How had he known all her favorites?! There were many of her thought-to-be-secret comfort foods... Thank Gods most of them were moderately easy - it wouldn't do to have her own boyfriend hurt himself over a dinner like this. "Are you sure there were no fires?" Aswan asked, shooting a playfully dubious look at him. "I'm impressed, again." And, judging by the quiche she'd taken a bite out of - it seemed he'd learnt quite a lot.
