Appearance Description:
Faruq usually has quite the unusual look to him. He stands at 6’1 with a thin build. In fact, considering his height, he actually looks like he could be a little bit below average weight for his height. However, he doesn’t appear to have any problems as a result of this.
Faruq is obviously of Arabic descent however it is not clear specifically where. He doesn’t usually pale or tan from his usual skin colour, and his blush is quite hard to spot. He does not have any beauty marks, freckles or scars.
He has longer, white hair that can reach to just below his shoulders. He usually has it tied up to keep it out of the way of his face. His fringe is long enough that it needs to be clipped back to keep it out of the way, or alternatively can be braided which is what he usually does. Has very light blue streaks through his hair.
He has beautiful bright turquoise eyes which always appear to be shining.
He usually wears a white tank top with a loose jacket, black jeans and black boots. Other times, he’ll be wearing a green hoodie instead of a different jacket. Remains fairly consistent with with appearance choice.
Personality Description: Although Faruq seems to have more angelic abilities than djinn abilities, his personality is a lot more like a djinn. Very joking and mischievous, he greatly enjoys pranking people. He has joy in the setup of the prank, and the actual moment it takes place. However, he’s pretty good at gauging whether a prank or joke is going too far. His aim is to be a prankster, not a horrible person. He’s rather gentle at heart and doesn’t really mean harm for anyone. He follows a strict routine of eating only as much as he needs, drinking mostly water, avoiding any other substances as best as he can, gets as much sleep as he needs and keeps himself fit. With how strict he follows this routine, it does seem a bit obsessive. He has a dislike of substances which can cause addictions, and will usually offer to help someone with withdrawing from addiction. Due to some of his rebellious high school years, Faruq is a little bit of a flirt, despite being demisexual. He has an interest in history, which is why he is going into archaeology. He also really enjoys astronomy, possibly planning to repeat college to get a degree in it as well.
Active Abilities: Sand Form - Faruq is able to shift freely from his human form to basically a cloud of pearly white sand. He is able to move around in basically a very small cloud, and basically looks like a gust of wind blowing sand around. When stationary, the sand will rest on the ground and be pretty dispersed within reason. This can effectively be an invisibility cloak. However, anything that touches him in this form causes excruciating pain.
Temporary Temperance - Faruq is able to make a person feel temporary temperance. This process requires him to place a hand either on the other person’s head or chest and to focus. Afterwards, the person will have less desire to overeat, drink liquid which isn’t water, or take substances like drugs or alcohol. The effect ranges from a few minutes to 12 hours. This does not completely erase the desire but it dampens it. For someone with greater desire before effect, the power will be for a shorter period of time but it is more effective. If the person has less desire, it will be for a longer period but less effective.
Addiction/Withdrawal Relief - Again, by placing his hand on someone’s head or chest, he is able to encourage someone to withdraw from addictions. Someone who has an addiction will find themself with less desire to continue on their addiction and have a higher chance of dropping it. However, the effect will dissipate once they do whatever their addiction is again. If someone is trying to stop an addiction and has withdrawal symptoms, Faruq is able to relieve any symptoms for a 12 hour period. This in total requires more energy to do and he needs to rest a bit before he’s able to do it again.
Illusion - Faruq is able to create illusions of objects, people and animals. Illusions of people and animals do not stay around as long, can’t be moved and look rather unnatural. Larger objects are similar. Medium sized objects can look like they’re moveable but there’s often little moments that make them seem like they may not be real. Objects which fit in one’s hands look completely real, and Faruq can do practically anything with them while maintaining a sense of reality.
Passive Abilities: Immortality - Ever since he turned 20, Faruq no longer ages. He will not die of old age. He is highly resistant to illnesses, but is still affected by them (especially if he has been overindulging). He is still affected by poison and can be killed after taking sufficient damage.
Weaknesses: Overindulgence - As a temperance angel, he has some decently nasty effects for overindulging. For overindulging in sleeping and laziness, and sexual acts, he will feel an extreme exhaustion. However, because neither of these are really gluttony, it doesn’t cause many problems. If Faruq eats more food than necessary, drinks a lot of non-water liquids, or takes a lot of substances, he will experience a variety of symptoms. For anything ingested, he will become very sick and vomit a reasonable amount. Sometimes he will fall unconscious. For any substances taken not by ingestion, he will get severe headaches, nausea, will find himself unable to use his abilities, and fall unconscious. In severe cases for any of these, he could fall into a coma which could rapidly become life threatening if he isn’t in medical care quickly.

Biography: Faruq was the result of a brief romance between a djinn and archangel Samael. Although they didn’t stay together, there was no ill feelings between them. When Faruq was born, his mother did care about him but knew she couldn’t really look after him. As a full djinn, she had a tricky and malicious nature which she didn’t want to negatively affect her child. So, she gave Faruq over to her father and he went to live in heaven.
For pretty much his entire life, Faruq didn’t have too many problems. He didn’t see his father a lot, but he knew the reasons why and wasn’t worried. He was ridiculed by some angels because of his half-breed nature, but he returned the favour with harmless pranks. Every month or so, he would go back to earth and spend a few days with his mother. He actually maintained a pretty good relationship with her.
At around 13, he got bored. He wanted to explore more but he wasn’t allowed to leave heaven when he was there, and he had to stay with his mother when he was on earth. That was until his illusory power manifested. It was the first of his powers to appear, but everyone knew it wouldn’t be the last. It was decided, because it seemed his angelic powers, if he even had any, would manifest later. So, he was sent to Manta Carlos to develop his powers in a nicer environment. However, his father could guess that when Faruq is an adult, he would’ve left to explore the world anyway. So, this was a way to allow Faruq to learn about the world.
Due to his father and the angels that generally surrounded him, Faruq didn’t overindulge until he came to live on Manta Carlos. He quite literally ate himself into a three day food coma within a week. With some testing on his part, he figured out his overindulgence restriction.
During high school, his other abilities gradually manifested themselves. Mostly through accidents, such as turning into a pile of sand during the middle of class, or accidentally making a high school fling give up smoking. But he figured out his abilities.
During his last two years of high school, he had a bit of a rebellious streak. He tried to get over his indulgence weakness. Specifically with recreational substances. But this left him at the verge of death on several occasions. Eventually, he was forced to stop which he now considers was for the best.
Once he started going to college to get an archeology degree, he mellowed out a little. He toned down with his pranks, stopped trying to push his limits to dangerous levels, and generally matured. He found an enjoyment in what he was currently doing. This is what his life has been since he started college, and is now in the process of getting a master’s degree in archaeology.
