Tomo lay on the grass, eyes closed and mind raging. Tadashi was sitting next to her, probably scribbling or something. Tomo was too busy frowning and thinking until her head hurt.
It was a pretty day, though clouds were floating in the sky, grey and heavy. It would probably rain a bit later. But now it was sunny enough and Tomo didn't feel cold in her sports jacket. It was brightly pink and white, the same colour as her sneakers. Then she had sky blue leggings and a red t-shirt that said "Bite me". That had been Tomo's mood lately, just poking at people for nothing and being a bitch, begging for someone to bite her. But she felt just shitty. Everything seemed to annoy her. Tomo had finally admitted to herself that she had a crush on John, an idiotic, stupid crush. And the guy was in juvie for two weeks! Tomo had fallen to a new low. Then there was the deal with Jii and that just made Tomo feel even more like trash. Well, she was already a trashy alley cat. But at least she wasn't a rat like Yuna.
Thinking about Yuna made Tomo growl out loud and she turned to lay on her side, facing Tadashi. They were skipping class together.
"Hey bro, do ya think I'm a bitch?"
Tomo opened her eyes after asking this and looked at him. Tadashi and Tomo really did look similar, with their white hair. They had similar facial features too, so much so you could think they were twins.
"It's just that I've been actin' like a huge bitch lately. I even fought with Yuna the other day, again."
Tomo sighed and scratched her head, frustrated.

Tadashi seemed as calm and happy as ever as he twirled the pencil in his hand. He had been drawing little lines and squiggles in the air every so often but the truth was he was actually too distracted to really draw anything substantial. His many fleeting thoughts also included John, in a way. Though there was nothing romantic at all about his. He had been bothered greatly by all the stress and arguing in the Community Center of late. After witnesing John's near death he had exclaimed that he was "tired of being a person" and hadn't been back there since. It was perhaps a little overly dramatic but it was really hard to remain calm when things like that were going on. Going to the minimum number of classes to continue barely passing was about all he had been doing in human form lately. Not that he would have told Tomo about that.

He gave up trying to draw and stretched his arms before sleepily blinking his eyes. Tadashi wasn't even pretending to have gone to class that day. He wore a plain grey hooded sweatshirt partially unzipped down the front, revealing a wrinkled white button down shirt. The sleeves ran all the way to his wrists where they were met by his customary light gray gloves. His slacks were a gunmetal gray and his shoes seemed to match the sweatshirt. He was comfortable sitting there next to Tomomi, and probably would have allowed himself to fall asleep if she hadn't shifted and growled.

Even he could tell that Tomo had been out of sorts lately. It bothered him a great deal, but he knew it would be best to let her bring it up rather than pester her about it. Until then he had been content to just sit there in comfort and keep her company. And maybe he would have tried to snap her out of it if the opportunity had arose.

Sure enough Tomo had broken the silence and Tadashi was a little unsure how to answer her. He thought about making a joke. Maybe telling her that of course she was and sticking out his tongue. That might have hurt her though and he really, really didn't want that. Instead he picked his words carefully, "You're scrappy. You stick up for yourself and I love you for it. Sometimes though being tough makes it hard for people to get close without getting hurt. It's easy for me 'cuz I know you're really just a softy at heart," he smiled as he flopped down to look up at the sky, "but you have to remember that you aren't just fending for yourself here. Us alley cats have to stick together. If you aren't comfortable talking to me about some things, fine, but i'm here and I would never judge you."

With smiling eyes and a laugh, he turned his head to face Tomo and added, "And Yuna needs to learn to play nice before someone breaks more than her leg."

She
Vero was roaming around the school, the heels of her shoes softly clacking as she walked around. She wasn’t skipping class since she hadn’t officially started at the school yet. She was just exploring the school, just seeing the standards. Ever since she’d become human, she had been taught by private tutors. This would be her first time at a school, let alone a public school.

She wasn’t particularly impressed, especially with some the students she’d only seen. She hasn’t even met other students yet. She walked through the courtyard at a slower pace to observe her surroundings. It was a pleasant enough day.
But Vero found it pretty miserable. She was used to hot weather for the entire year. This reflected in her clothing a bit, as she was wearing a white, long sleeve shirt with a light grey parker. Both of which were of high quality. She was also wearing black jeans and black boots of a similar quality to the rest of her clothing. To say she looked well off would be an understatement.

She glanced over at two people who were lying on the ground and she rolled her eyes. She couldn’t understand how people would want to skip class. She turned away to start wandering again when she slowly realised they seemed to remind her of something... she turned and looked back at them. She was about to groan when she realised they looked around her age but instead she just squinted at them. They look similar to her...? From the amount of squinting she was doing, it wouldn’t be difficult for Tomomi and Tadashi to feel like someone was looking at them.

Tomomi looked at Tadashi, really touched by his words. Tomo had expected him to make a joke, maybe give a half-hearted answer. But Tadashi had answered her seriously. Did Tomo really seem that bad? She needed to get herself back together. But for now she just tackle hugged Tadashi and laughed.
"Who gives a fuck about Yuna anyway? I've got you, brooooo~"
Tomo blinked innocently and grinned the next second. She was very lucky to have Tadashi.
Then Tomo felt a strange chill, someone's gaze. She looked around, the courtyard was empty. Well, except for a lonely figure some ways from them. Tomo could tell she was squinting at her and Tadashi, but couldn't tell if it was hostile squinting or not. Tomo let go of Tadashi and started squinting back. Next she raised her voice.
"What? Never seen siblings before?"
Tomo wasn't trying to be hostile but little of her annoyance crept into her voice. But Tomo noticed the person, looked like a girl their age, had white hair. And when the wind carried over a whiff of her scent Tomo froze and said quietly.
"Tadashi, can ya smell that?"

There we go, that's more like you. Jumping on heads, biting ears and tackling people. Happy, at least a little bit.

"Oh I see how it is, I say something nice and you try to smother me," he joked but he did hug her back. "Yeah, you're stuck with me now and I'll-," he was interrupted when Tomo let go and called out at someone in the distance. With her no longer holding him he was able to slide away a bit and sit up.

Some random girl was just staring at them and giving the weirdest look. Tadashi wasn't quite sure whether she was upset about something or just judging them for enjoying the day. It looked like she was about their age so she might have been deciding whether to tattle on them for skipping class.

He didn't really catch whatever it was that Tomo was smelling but he was a little distracted by what he was seeing. The girl staring at them was wearing all kinds of expensive clothing, but under that she looked familiar. Really, really familiar. She had pale skin and white hair just like the two of them and she looked like she was about the same age. For some unexplained reason he also felt drawn towards the girl. More than likely it was whatever Tomo had noticed.

Tadashi felt like he was swimming as he stood up and started walking towards the girl. He didn't want to get his hopes up in case this was just a coincidence, but was this their missing sister? "H-Hi! Who are you?" It was about all he could think to say and he had stopped a little distance from her, not knowing whether he should get closer to her or stay nearer to Tomo. So, he just kind of stood there awkwardly and waited to see what would happen.

Vero was squinting still when both of them stood up and confronted her. She took a step back, somewhat surprised by both of their reactions. For once, her composure is a bit off as she looked at the siblings. They both looked similar to each other, had the same pale skin with white hair. One of them even had blue eyes like her. One boy, one girl...

She cleared her throat as she walked over to them, hands placed neatly in front of her. "I'm Trinity Veronica Abel. It's a pleasure to meet you." She spoke clearly and politely, with a tone that almost seemed like she was wasting her breath. In reality, she was thinking of a way to address the main question on her mind.

She subtly tried to sniff the air, but instead her nose just kind of wrinkled. She wasn't good with any of the cat things since she never went into her cat form. She cleared her throat again. She genuinely felt anxious about this. "Are you two... bakenekos?" She spoke slowly as if she was either trying to get them to understand what she was saying, or for them to just outright burst out laughing at her. Either way, not particularly pleasant.

Tomo followed Tadashi and watched as the person came halfway to them. Tomo stared at her and noticed more things after every second. She had pale skin like them, white hair like them, blue eyes like Tadashi. Maybe Tomo had been passed with that trait. Because she was more and more sure that this girl was their sister. Tomo sniffed again, and the same scent as when she had found Tadashi lingered in the air. Couldn't Tadashi smell it?
The girl introduced herself, and she had some name. It wasn't japanese. Was Tomo wrong? This wasn't their sister? No, that couldn't be. Nose didn't lie.

As soon as the girl asked the next question Tomo was sure and she stepped forward, right in front of the girl's face, and sniffed thoroughly. She didn't care is she seemed weird. Then she looked the girl straight into her eyes.
"Yes. But lemme ask ya a more valid question. Are ya our sister?"

As Tadashi stood there watching, not knowing what to do, he finally picked up on the familiar scent in the air. Like the one that had helped him realize Tomomi was his sister. The scent reminded him of a cold winter logn ago...and mom. He might have tried to explain it away as having smelled Tomo instead, but he knew that wasn't true. This was an additional scent that added to and complemented theirs.

She didn't sound Japanese, but it was hard to argue against the scent once Tadashi had noticed it. She had asked if they were bakenekos but the easiest way to answer would be to just show her. Tadashi dropped briefly into cat form as he ran the rest of the way over. In his cat form the scent was even more noticeable and he didn't need to get close to confirm it for himself. Instead he was going to get close because he was sure this was their sister.

While running over in cat form he meowed, "Tadashi, and either both of our noses are broken," indicating himself and Tomo, "or you are definitely our sister." He popped back into human form and stood right next to Tomo, grinning from ear to ear.

Somewhere back behind them a pencil lay forgotten and lost, but Tadashi didn't care.

Vero took a reluctant step backwards when both of them approached her. She wasn’t particularly sure how to feel about seeing her siblings again, especially after how long it had been been. She almost jumped in surprised when Tadashi shifted, and she could understand what he was saying.

She gulped. She used to be teased by her adoptive family on if she ever met any of her real family again, what it would be like. Now she was here. She then nodded slowly. “Yes, I believe I’m your sister.” She spoke in this disconnected tone, not an excited or happy one. It felt like she was confused, in a way.

Again, she tried to sniff the air but was unable to distinguish the smell of her siblings from the rest of the surroundings. She was fiddling her hands as she looked down at the ground. How could I consider two people who I haven’t met for at least two years as my siblings right away? She thought this would be far easier. But it wasn’t.

This encounter went really differently from when Tomo and Tadashi had met. The girl, their sister, seemed confused and kinda distant. Well, people had their own ways of reacting to things. This was sis' way. Tomo grinned and backed up a bit, since Trinity, mighty fancy name, had backed up a it too. Maybe she needed some space.
"Jeez, try to contain your excitement a bit sis. You're embarrassing yourself."
Tomo laughed and bumped Trinity's shoulder a bit playfully. She had noticed Trinity trying to sniff the air. Could she smell it? The bond between them. Their mother's scent. But Tomo couldn't see her face, since Trinity was looking at the ground.
Tomo glanced at Tadashi, grinned ever wider and then just jumped to hug Trinity, not being able to contain herself.
"We've been missin' ya so much!"
