Cosette was very grateful to Starlight academy for allowing her to study, and she was happy to be able to receive the education she had been lacking her whole life. She had learned to read and write French during her teenage years, and more or less could do the same with English thanks to her years on the island. But reading books in English was still a struggle for her. However, it was a struggle that she welcomed, and thus Cosette was walking to the library with a small smile on her face. Well, people who knew Cosette would've been able to tell her smile did not reach her eyes. Cosette was too worried to be smiling at full-force.

Cosette pushed the library doors open, and although she had been there before she just had to stop and marvel at the interior. She loved how the place looked, it was homey and invited you to sit down, calm down and read.
Cosette breathed in, out, and then headed to the bookshelves. Cosette wasn't most knowledgeable about the system used in the library, but she was confident that she'd be able to find the classic literature shelf.
That confidence had entirely depleted 10 minutes later, when Cosette was somehow by the science section and completely lost. Cosette let out a sigh, she should've known better than to trust her own navigational skills. Cosette might've been partly a migratory bird but she was hopeless with directions.
Cosette looked around, looking for anyone that might be able to guide her. And she saw her saviour, a person in a black robe with a book cart. They must've been a member of the staff. Cosette smiled and walked towards the person with a brisk pace.

"Excuse me, could you tell me where-? Ah!"
Cosette started to say as she approached the person, but her steps had been too brisk and her eyes hadn't been on the ground. Thus, she stumbled on a book that was jutting out from the shelf and fell forward and right against the book cart next to the person in a black robe. Cosette caused several books to fall on the floor, and she quickly scrambled upright and gasped.
"Oh dear, I'm ever so sorry! Whenever I think I have finally learned to be more careful I cause more trouble with my butter feet. I will just pick these up..."
Cosette apologized, and bent down to pick up the books she had knocked over.

It was once again another boring day at the library for Selkiris. They didn’t really mind all that much though as it still kept their mind off of...much more distasteful things. They had simply been restocking books that had been returned when they heard a feminine voice approach them. Before they could respond though the female seemed to have tripped and quickly fell onto his cart. As Selkiris got a good look at who this woman actually was, a distant memory of the past seemed to flash before him, and the woman was replaced with...Morgan of all people. The vision quickly passed though and Selkiris shook his head, crouching down to pick up the books as well. “It is quite alright miss. Accidents always happen.”

The person thankfully wasn't angry, and Cosette gave them a grateful, gentle smile as she neatly put the books back on the cart.
"You're too kind, really. Um, I'm very sorry to interrupt your work once again, but could you guide me towards the classic literature section? I need a certain book for a class."
Cosette's smile turned apologetic, and she connected her hands behind her back as she subtly took the person in better. Their face was completely covered by the hood on their black robe, although Cosette was pretty sure she should've been able to see their face despite that from this angle...

Selkiris paused for a second, trying to formulate response and not internally freak out. “O-O-Of course miss. Please follow me.” Selkiris turned around and gestured for the lady to follow him. Everyone now and then Selkiris would look back every now and then to make sure that she was still following. After a short minutes for walking, the beginning of the classical literature section came into view. “There we are miss. The classical literature section is right ahead.”

"Thank you very much, I was afraid I might be lost forever."
Cosette said with a joking tone and chuckled. She followed the person, just as they gestured, and as they walked she took in the surrounding bookshelves, filled with knowledge.
"Although I suppose this could be a wonderful place to get lost in..."
Cosette commented conversationally, smiling softly as she imagined spending hours and hours in here reading. Well, reading mostly romance and fantasy novels and such, Cosette didn't have much of an attention span for highly scientific or academical books. She much rather learned her facts in audiovisual form, like documentaries.

Quite soon they reached the classical literature section and Cosette let out a quiet, bit surprised laugh.
"Oh, it was this close! I suppose I wasn't as lost as I thought I was."
Cosette said and gave the person a joyous smile.
"Thank you for your guidance, truly. Um, I hate to be even more of a hindrance, but could you help me find the book I need? It's called To Kill a Mockingbird."
Cosette asked, looking apologetic once more. She had chosen the book mostly because the title was to tragic and yet poetic, she had a feeling the book would make her cry.

"I-It's no issue really. It is my job after all to help anyone who needs it in this library. It is also quite difficult for me to get lost in here as I have memorized almost the entirety of this place." Selkiris once again looked hard at Cosette and seemed to have another flashback to his time with Morgan. Why did she seem so similar to his wife? He just couldn't shake the feeling of it no matter how hard he tried.

"Oh, you require that book? Please wait here I could find it in just a few seconds." With that said Selkiris vanished from Cosette's eyes, as he teleported throughout the classical literature section. Within a few seconds of first dissapearing Selkiris reappeared before Cosette, the book now in hand. "Here you go Miss, I hope it is too your liking."

Cosette jumped slightly in surprise, when the librarian suddenly disappeared. She didn't even have time to thank them. But then, before Cosette had even time to properly realize that the librarian was gone they appeared again with the exact book Cosette needed.

"Oh! This is exactly it, thank you very much. Dear me, you spooked me slightly with your disappearing trick."
Cosette chuckled, and took the book with a grateful smile and a nod. She looked at the cover, the image was quite charming, just like the name.
"It's funny, I don't actually know what this book is about. I picked it based on the charming name, quite shallow of me."
Cosette gave a small embarrassed smile, and turned the book around in order to read the back cover. Her eyebrows rose, and then she frowned slightly as she took in the short summary.
"Oh my, looks like I will be learning about history as well. I'm afraid I'm slightly behind in my world history studies."
Cosette commented, giving a quiet embarrassed chuckle. She must've seemed quite stupid to this person...

Selkiris gave a light chuckle at her comment. "Yes ma'am I am capable of short range teleportation, it's a much more effective way of travel when traversing the many halls of the library." Selkiris watched very closely as Cosette carefully viewed the book. She made the first impression she didn't really know what this book was about in the first place so once she verbally made that realization Selkiris was not surprised in the slightest. "Don't be embarrassed miss, I have often gotten into books without really knowing what they were about as well." Of course a few of those books, Selkiris very much wished to forget as they brought up some bad memories for him.

"A perfect ability for a librarian, I'd say."
Cosette in turn commented and returned the chuckle. It felt a bit strange to be called ma'am when she was quite, most probably younger than this person.

"That does actually make me feel a bit better, coming from a librarian. Not to say one must read a lot to be a librarian, but you seem to like literature."
Cosette said with a small relieved and still embarrassed laugh, and she idly traced the line art on the cover.
"Oh, let me introduce myself, I am Cosette Cygne. Truly, many thanks for helping me."

Selkiris gave a short laugh "Haha no I completely understand that sense of logic. And I have indeed likely read almost all of the books in this library at some time or another. It is a good method of wasting time." Selkiris sighed a little, he had way too much time on his hands and books just helped make that time more bearable. "I am Selkiris, and it is no problem at all Ms. Cosette, it is my job to help those in need here after all."
