He nodded, "had private tutors and my father to teach me," they walked outside, he quickly traded out his glasses for sunglasses, letting her guide them to the gardens. "It's nice though, being around more kids my age."

"Oh you have a brother, that's nice," Will was an only child, he'd never had any siblings. "Good that you have family here," he grinned, "it's good to have family," he still missed his dad, probably always would.

"What do you like to do?" he asked curiously, "got any hobbies?"

"Hmm.." Nia was quite thoughtful about this homeschooling idea. She really hated going to school and would much prefer to have private tutor. But, she was suppose to working on her social skills.

She nodded, "It is nice that he is here but I didn't meet him until a few months ago."

Nia led them through the gardens, following her favorite path. It was a bit cold out today but nothing too bad. "I read mostly... I'm trying to read the entire library..." It was an ambitious goal to say the least but it was the only real goal she had. School didn't motivate her. The idea of a job terrified her. Only reading and the accumulation of information gave her any sort of purpose.

He followed her, his eyes wandering, looking at all the flowers, but they always found their way back to Nia.

"I like to read to, have a library at my home," he smiled, "I have a small library ay my home, me and mom use it." He chuckled, "she seems to be able to read through books in no time."

They passed a rose bush, he plucked a small flower from it. Making sure it was free of roses he handed it to her. "I like to read about vampires when I can, learning about the other bloodlines, already know a lot about mine."

"Oh wow! A home library...I want..one someday..." Nia's voice was soft as she imaged never having to leave the comfort of her home for information...

Nia took the rose, suddenly remembering the day she had met Aedan. She smelled the rose, its fragrance soft and warm. She held it close for a moment before slipping the stem into her pony tail. She had recently started wearing her hair back. Made it easier to read.

"Oh! I live with a vampire! She is very nice.." Nia smiled thinking of Cerra. The two got along quite well.

He smiled, this girl seemed so sweet and innocent, yet intelligent, "the rose looks good on you."

"Yea I'm an energy vampire, well half, my mom is human," him being half human had been very controversial in his clan, had led to infighting and his eventually leaving. "We feed off of life energy," he had people his mother paid for them to get their needed energy. "Which means no pointy teeth," he said grinning to show her his lack of fangs and chuckling.

He was strangely talkative, he was always friendly but generally quiet, "what classes do you like?" he asked, "I like literature, but I also like history."

Her cheeks flushed, almost matching the roses in her hair, "Oh..why thank you." She said, her eyes locking on the path in front of her.

She glanced back up to look at his teeth, eyes narrowing in thought. "I haven't heard of energy vampires. I started reading about them after Color moved in but only the blood drinking ones..."

They continued to walk, Nia leading them slowly down the path she walked for hours on end after she first arrived, before she discovered just how much she wanted to spend every moment inside reading.

"I uh...don't really like the classes that much. Most of them take too long and make me anxious. I guess the only class I really like is..." Nia's eyes narrowed as she tried to think, "I...really don't know." She honestly just wished she could spend all her time reading. She found she was quite good at math too but somehow that brought this kind of not in her stomach that she didn't like. Though numbers were easy somehow, she prefered to read. It felt like it pushed her mind more.

"I guess...english because they give us reading assignments..."

"Yes, were probably a bit rarer than the blood drinking ones," there lots and of blood drinkers in his clan, more than energy absorbers. "My clan was a mix of lot's of different kinds of vampires."

Nodding, he looked at her, "reading is great." He thought for a moment, "there's more to life than just reading though." Pulling his phone from his pocket, he flipped to a picture of him and his parents in Paris, France, "look at this," leaning down he showed her the photo, "this was taken around a year ago." It was night in the photo, Will didn't have his glasses then his parents looked happy.

"Books are good and giving a glimpse of things," he smiled at her, "but....it's good to see those places...explore a bit." His clan castle was enchanted to change location once a year, teleporting to a different location in Europe.

He looked at the photo, a bit of sadness briefly appearing on his face before his smile returned.

"A mix?" Now, this was really interesting. Nia didn't quite understand how that was even possible but her understanding of families was not the best.

Nia looked at the photo intently. Paris was beautiful but the thing that really caught her were the other people. "Is that...your family?"

"Yes it is," he said a little sadness in his voice, his father was tall with blonde hair, his mother had long black hair, back then Will didn't need glasses. "We have an estate in Paris, we were there while my father was on clan business."

Pushing the screen it showed them on top of the eiffel tower, "lots to see out there, I was lucky, my father took us to see a lot of cool things." He smiled at her, pushing the unpleasant thoughts of his past away to focus on Nia.

"There's a lot to see out there," he grinned a bit, "and you can't see all of it in a book." He chuckled a little, "either way, thank you Nia. Going walk with a cute girl is definitely an amazing way to start my time here."

Nia stared at the pictures intently. They looked happy. Will looked happy. She glanced up at him, her eyes concerned, "Why did you leave them?"

Nia had no family, no life really, outside of Manta Carlos. Aedan had become a brother and her new roommate was feeling more and more like a sister every day. She couldn't imagine being without them. She wanted to know why Will would choose to leave people who clearly brought him joy.

She shrugged, looking back at the flowers, "Books are my world...besides I see..." She paused, swallowing a knot in her throat, "I see plenty."

"The garden and the library are the only places I enjoy going. They feel...safe."
