Private Eye of the Dragon

Diana was a bit caught of guard with Destra's very casual compliment. It kinda broke her train of thought and made her stumble over her words. "I . . . W-what? Of course I look fine. That's not important though. Evil monster scum don't get put down by looks. They get put down by combat." She made a point to punch her fist in her other hand really hard.

"Woah woah." Diana wasn't excpecting him to tell her to just go at him. She was expectin- well she really wasn't sure on what to expect. She figured he like do a few things then tell her to do a few things like how they do in judo and karate classes. "You just want me to attack you? That's it?"

The way he was going about this made her suspicious too. The fact he said to actually try to hit him gave her strong Morpheus vs Neo vibes. Plus he was just standing there. He wasn't guarding or raising his arms or anything. "I just have to hit you right? Just once?"

She was 100% expecting some weird dragon magic nonsense.

Did he just flicked her? Did he really just do that? That was a literal hit to her pride. She swatted his hand away and huffed to protest. "Hey! What the heck? Thinking is just fine. That's how we got by for so long!"

Diana was also 90% . . . err maybe 80% sure that the monsters who she hunt down and the ones who hunt her down, actually don't think. Which is why they tend to lose, but hey if Destra says not thinking is a good idea then sure, she will play along.

Once Destra backed away she immediatly just tried to rush him. There was no tact, technique, or anything. She just straight up sprinted at him and swung wildley and hoped to hit him. It was clear she has zero training for actual fidt to fist combat.
It's not like the monsters fight fist to fist so why should she?

Diana was definitely not happy at him just being able to casually dodge and stop her attack. She was sure he definitely was using some weird...dragon...speed...dodge...thing...magic. "What if things get worse? Well me and Frío are survivors. We always manage to get by."

There was also that factor of randomness that Diana had to deal with. While she did deal with things that was either as big as her or smaller than her, they usually are easy to deal with. "....and if things get worse, I don't think I can run up and kick some large monster in the face and expect it to die." Which is were Frío came in.

Honestly that was her real problem. Dealing with things that she felt like only Frío could deal with. Diana huffed and tried to break away from Destra. "This dumb basic combat training isn't going to stop me from being useless when the bigger monsters come around. I can't do shit against them most of the time."

She smiled just a bit a Destra. He was definitely right, she wasn't useless. She just....needed a way to make herself more useful and improve on the things she sucked at.

Diana's eyes widen a bit when Destra said that she may want to invest in weapons. She honestly never thought of that before, then again she wasn't on a magic island that most likely had magical weapons on it. "Invest in a weapon? Huh. That's actually a good idea."

Diana started thinking about Tilly & her hammer. Tilly's hammer was great and it was definitely the ideal type of weapon she would need in the sense that it actually exists on the plane the monsters exist on. "I know someone who is like me that has a weapon. I could try asking her but her hammer is basically her Frío."

Getting a weapon was only like 1/3rd of the problem though. She still needed to figure out how to get it to kill something that exists on another plane and also get training with it. This all also applies to her learning magic, there really wasn't an instruction manual left behind on what she could or couldn't do to these monsters.
"So what's your advice then. If you were in my shoes right now, what do you think I should do?"

"Yeah, I can whack them with a stick but I think it has to be in my hands to work. I'm not sure how that would work with magic or magic weapons." There was just a lot of uncertainty around the things she could and couldn't do.

Destra's suggestion of getting a weapon was actually a good idea. She also never thought about getting a weapon because she would have to explain to people why she was carrying around a sword, which would be hard and awkward to deal with.
"That actually might just work. I'm not sure how the laws work here with weapons but I won't have the problem explaining that I'm carrying a axe because I gotta kill some invisible monsters."

Everytime she said that out loud just made her cringe. She definitely would sound like some crazy person back in the narrow reality. "So I need a weapon and also training for that weapon."
