It had been a week since her people left. Seven solid days and nights, and since then she had not gone out. Not even to head to the market to buy food, which is something she had been allowed to do beforehand. Instead, her handmaiden had been doing all the shopping, while Mother sat around the apartment watching TV and browsing the internet. She had hated it, the isolation, the lack of freedom, but most of all the boredom. At this point, she was certain that she might actually die of boredom, which is why she was here now.
Mother had slipped out on her own. Something she was certain she would be lectured for later, but as of right now it didn't matter. She was free to explore the city on her own, and see what kind of things Earth had to offer her. This was important to her, especially now considering it appeared she would be here for a while.
She zipped up her sweater before leaning on the railing of the pier, overlooking the water. The sun was just rising into the sky creating a dazzling effect on the surface of the water. Given how early it was and the minor chill in the air, there had been few people out yet. This suited her just fine as it granted her the freedom to enjoy things at her own pace, though now as she looked out at the water, Mother couldn't help but wish for a little company. The people here were so strange to her, their bodies and shapes were all different. Their cultures all foreign and interesting. In many ways she wanted to be among them, to socialize and make friends. But slowly of course.
She took a deep breath of salty air, enjoying the scent of the ocean, while she leaned forward, one set of arms were crossed on the railing providing her support, while the other pair were simply placed neatly beside their counterparts. Beside her feet sat a backpack she had loaded up for her excursion while her handmaiden had been busy.
"This place isn't so bad. I think It won't be so hard to live here." She said to no one in particular. She had been practicing speaking the language here. Ever since having it downloaded, she had made a solid effort to speak it whenever possible, forcing the other Caprisians here on the island to do the same. It had seemed like the right thing to do since they were here. Aside from that, the new words were fun to say.
