Candy's left arm is getting rustier and more useless by the day. She's in a quest to find someone who can help her out, maybe improve said arm (right now it gets useless as soon as it gets wet). She can be annoying, likes to make fun of people and most probably will end up being friends with whoever helps her out, so something can come out of it. Either that or she'll annoy and pester anyone who can help but doesn't want to until they give in.
To keep this story running, I was thinking that whomever wants to fix her arm, could just easily change it for a new one. To keep this from happening and ending the story too soon, I was thinking about using Candy's love for her father keep her from wanting to change her arm. Sure, they can fix it and maybe improve on it a bit, but it's still a rusty old thing. Still, she'd want to keep it, since changing it in any way would make her feel like her dad's work was for nothing. Could be a subject to bring up between the two characters, or a way to create conflict. Just throwing ideas out there. ^^
