Noticing him turn just enough for her to miss him, she instinctively moved her arm and leg to protect her vulnerable side, while attempting to twist herself so she'd continue facing Zack. With her muscles tensed the kick she received was a solid hit, but most of the damage that would have been caused was mitigated at the cost of a little pain. The next thing she knew, it was Zack on the offensive, running towards her and then slide. She wasn't sure how strong he was yet so she decided to try and maneuver herself instead of attempting to block with her own foot, which could have ended with her snapping either her tibia, fibula, or both, with the added pain of a broken ankle. She wanted to stay on the ground as much as possible, and so did a tiny hop to the side instead of attempting to jump over him. As soon as she touched the ground and got her footing, she kicked off the ground to hop back a little farther before walking backwards with a grin on her face. Feeling her blood pumping so fast in a long time got her excited. She didn't move to attack yet, and decided to play it safe for a few more moments.

Lei Ling took the hit and evaded the slide. She didn't seem to affected by it. That, combined with the fact that she backed away from him and grinned, sent a shiver down his spine. She gave him the vibe of someone who was battle hungry.

She didn't attack him again, which was expected. The last time he had gone on the offense, he nearly received an elbow to the stomach. He knew that it was going to be easy for her to trip him up if he was even a little careless, and she probably wasn't going to let him pull off the same trick as before. He began walking towards her.

"You look like you're having fun," he said, smiling.

"Well the rush is a lot different than what I had when I was fighting my brothers. This is more exciting!" She'd say, slowing down a little so he can close the gap. It looked as if he didn't want to attack, probably because he figured that's what she wanted him to do. Though as he walked, while she didn't want to act first neither, she simply kept her eyes on his movements. "What about you, then? You look like you're enjoying yourself too."

Her brothers, huh? Zack was immediately intrigued. He was sure that he hadn't seen the entirety of Lei Ling's combat capabilities, but if her brothers were as good as her, he wanted to meet them.

"Yeah, I'm having fun," he said. "I haven't had a decent fight for a few weeks now, since I've only really been fighting family members. Feels good to fight someone new."

During this break in the combat, Zack was circling Lei Ling, examining her mannerisms. A few seconds later, he broke into a sudden sprint directly at her. He knew that he wouldn't be able to catch her off guard, but hopefully he would be able to cause her to misunderstand what he was doing. Zack lowered himself so that it looked like he was going for a tackle, but at the last moment, jumped and kicked out, aiming for her abdomen.

"Just like making new friends," she chuckled. Lei Ling stayed in place, but kept her angle with him the same, not wanting to give him an opening. Her tail would flick from time to time and her ears would twitch as she watched him. When he made his move sprinting towards her, she took off perpendicular to him to the left, and as soon as he crouched down, she kicked off diagonally backwards, keeping her stance closed and controllable so that she could react quickly to the tackle. But when he switched to a kick, she crossed her arms to protect herself, the outer arm being the mirror of the leg he used to kick so she could quickly snap the other arm to her side if he went for another kick to her side. She leaned in to catch the kick, and kept off her heels so the force would have her skid on the grass instead of sticking there and knocking her off her balance. She also gave space between her arms and her body so she could slowly bring them closer to dissipate some of the force, like some sort of cushion, still that was a painful hit on her outer arm. But now that he was close enough, the arm behind slipped under and tried to grab Zack by the ankle.

Zack expected Lei Ling to block that kick, and he also expected her to counterattack. He wasn't as prepared for it as he thought he would be, though, even with his power. He managed to move his leg out of the way fast enough, but ended up stumbling slightly.

Zack didn't slow down. He pivoted and did a roundhouse kick with the leg he hadn't used to kick before, aiming for her body.

As soon as her hand reached the point where she expected his leg to be but felt nothing there, Lei Ling quickly drew back her hand, and hopped a little bit forward, eyes scrutinizing Zack's movements. Unless he drew his extended foot back and quickly thrust it in her face, she expected an attack coming from the opposite side, likely the other leg, but she didn't rule out the possibility of punches flying towards her. In quick engagements like this, she relied on her body reacting without the need for her to actively think about what to do. And so when she saw the other leg coming in, she tensed up her muscles, moved her arm to catch the kick with her palm, while the arm nearest to the leg lifted to allow it to land a solid hit on her side, which to Zack would feel like kicking a tree trunk padded by half an inch of foam. The other arm that gave way would immediately fold back to lock Zack's leg in, supported by the other hand that helped catch the kick. Once firmly gripped, Lei Ling turned in the direction of the bend of Zack's knee, angled to bring him to the ground with the intention of pinning him there with her own weight and pulling his leg towards his shoulder to get him to submit, but taking care not to accidentally dislocate something.

Zack realized his mistake as soon as he went for the second kick. His intention was to catch Lei Ling off guard while she was trying to grab him, but, of course, she was too fast for that. As soon as the kick landed—which felt like it did more damage to him than it did to her—his leg was under her command, and he was on the ground, pinned under her weight.

Zack tried to escape, but quickly found that it was futile. He huffed, positioning his head so that his mouth wasn't in the dirt. He tapped the ground twice with his hand. "Alright, I give," he said. "You're just too damn fast."

Hearing the surrender, Lei Ling let got of Zack's leg and rolled over to the side, sighing from relief. "You kick hard," she said, huffing."Did you hold back? Because I'd be afraid if you did." She let out a little groan as she squeezed the side of her that just got kicked. She would never show weakness during a fight, but after that, she could show as much weakness as she could because holy cow, that kidney must have been knocked loose. "Oh, I hope you aren't upset."

Zack groaned. He placed his hands on the ground to push himself up, but settled on staying on the ground instead and fell to his back. He let out a heavy exhale and looked at Lei Ling.

"Nah, that was all my strength," Zack said, smiling. "Sorry about that, by the way. I guess I kinda got carried away. I usually don't have to put in that much effort."

Upon seeing Lei Ling's pain, Zack finally stood and offered a hand to help her up. He muttered another quick apology, sighed, and ran a hand through his hair.

"I'm not upset," he said. "In fact, quite the opposite. That was the most fun I've had in a long time. You're a great fighter."
